Just sayin'.

They should have an app for that because hiring an escort to see a movie with you is a drug addiction away from rock bottom. Something to let people that want to see a movie, but are afraid to be seen in public by themselves, find a movie partner.

When I got married and worked too much I loved doing anything alone because it was so rare. Then I had kids.... people listen to me, cherish the moments you can selfishly have for yourself. They will be stolen from you!

The Judge.

 

The cast was great (Downey Jr., Duvall, Thornton...Dax Shepard too :) ), and the story itself was very well done. I'd recommend going into it blindly if possible.

 

I thought it was really good too.  Much better than I was expecting (no disrespect to RDJ and Duvall ;) )

Yeah man, kids takes a lot of free time away. They are fun though but you don't get much free time. Luckily mine is small enough to strap into a bjorn while I play video games.

The escort was an obvious joke and should not be taken seriously by any married men. Perhaps he has some friends that like movies? I don't know if I'd enjoy going to a movie by myself, I've never done it.

I used to go to midweek matinees all the time back when I was in college, because that was the only free time I had. That was back when I was nearly killing myself working and studying. Going and cat thing a movie was a way to keep my sanity.

There's no law that says you have to bring a chick with you, or a group of friends. In the evening hours you may feel more pressure, but I doubt there with friends or a date is going to be payingpaying attention to you.

And yeah, between kids, a demanding job, and a potentially paranoid wife/gf, goodbye to even having a moment to collect your thoughts.

Nothing wrong with seeing a movie alone. I've done it at times when a friend has bailed or during some of my single dark dad when I had a ton of free time.

Recently my wife was throwing a baby shower and all my friends and brothers were either working or busy so I just went to a movie by myself and kills a couple hours.

I'm not a big talker during movies anyway so it's not that much of a difference for me. I don't get a wife cuddle or a chance to cop a feel every once and again to make sure she is awake but other than that it's about the same.

People watch movies at home alone. The only difference here is that it's in public and somebody might see you. The opinions of strangers are obviously a problem for people at movie theaters since I also see so many "bros" that don't sit beside each other and leave a seat empty in between which when you think about it is like watching a movie alone. And it's stupid.

Come on get out of here with that crap.

Finally got to see Interstellar a couple of days ago. Just two words. Mind. Blown. Since I've been pretty busy at work and with a variety of other things over the past several months, I came into it without really knowing too much of what to expect other than the basic plot line and that it was supposed to be good. Man, does it deliver! It has its schmaltzy moments, but overall the storyline is really excellent and I was really taken aback by the cinematography. The attention paid to scientific detail was an incredibly pleasant surprise. Also, I got lucky in that due to the timing and my schedule, I was forced to watch it in IMAX. This is exactly the kind of film that benefits incredibly from a format like IMAX. If you haven't seen it that way, you should.

I rarely do this, but in this case I think I'm going to see this film twice.

You must have seen it in IMAX digital, not real IMAX? Which theatre?

Chef. Probably the best non-action movie I've seen this year. John Favreau needs to get in front of the camera more often. Really good movie. 8.5/10.

Sofia Vergara looks soooooo much better with light hair (not that she isn't hot with dark hair)

How I Live Now. Damn good indy movie. A nuke goes off in London and 5 kids, the oldest being 16, are forced to fend for themselves as war breaks out. Between Sairose's performance, an interesting storyline, and the beautiful English countryside as the backdrop, this movie surprised me big time. 8/10

"Set in the near-future UK, Ronan plays Daisy, an American teenager sent to stay with relatives in the English countryside. Initially withdrawn and alienated, she begins to warm up to her charming surroundings, and strikes up a romance with the handsome Edmund (George MacKay). But on the fringes of their idyllic summer days are tense news reports of an escalating conflict in Europe. As the UK falls into a violent, chaotic military state, Daisy finds herself hiding and fighting to survive."

3 Days to Kill.  Decent movie for a Thursday night with nothing good on TV, but would've been pissed if I paid to see it in theaters.  The movie could've easily been 20 minutes shorter without cutting anything significant.  And its weird taking Costner serious as a cold blooded CIA killer.  I know he's done a wide variety of films, but ever since seeing Dances with Wolves 20 times, I always associate his character from that movie to his face.  A friendly, peaceful man.  Felt weird watching him shoot people in the head for two hours.  7/10.

 

Also, Amber Heard is insanely beautiful.

3 Days to Kill. Decent movie for a Thursday night with nothing good on TV, but would've been pissed if I paid to see it in theaters. The movie could've easily been 20 minutes shorter without cutting anything significant. And its weird taking Costner serious as a cold blooded CIA killer.

This is what ruined Untocuhables for me, aside from the fact I found it boring. Costner just didn't sell it.

I was cool with him as Robin Hood and The Postman but for some reason, this one...wasn't buying it

2. Nightcrawler - A +, second best movie of the year after "Gone Girl".

 

Jake Gyllenhaal's character: Lois Bloom would be perfect for Gone Girl's Rosamund Pike's Amy Dunne. Two people, just perfect for each other.

 

3.  Exodus: Gods and Kings - B-.

 

Saw that today, it was okay.

They put a bullet in Mose`s head, and damn near made Button a vegetable. Meanwhile the corrupt sherrif does nothing.

AND they were **** on for being "Freegrazers".

That town needed to be set straight in a bad way. And they straightened it. Big time.

That entire shootout scene was one of the best in the history of Westerns imo

"Still Mine."  Great movie!  Wow.  Just looked it up, its getting a 92% on rotten from the critics side, so you know its solid.  James Cromwell was so good in this.  9/10.

 

 

 

 

Based on true events and laced with wry humour, STILL MINE is a heartfelt love story about an 89-year-old New Brunswicker (James Cromwell) who comes up against the system when he sets out to build a more suitable house for his wife (Geneviève Bujold) whose memory is starting to go. Although Craig Morrison is using the same methods his father, a shipbuilder, taught him, times have changed. Craig quickly gets on the wrong side of an overzealous government inspector, who finds just about everything unacceptable, including the unstamped wood Craig has milled from his own trees. As Irene becomes increasingly ill and amidst a series of stop-work orders Craig races to finish the house. Hauled into court and facing jail, Craig takes a final stance.

I've been really enjoying the movies I've seen this year about cooking. I thought Chef was awesome as well and I watched the 100 Foot Journey this weekend with my girl.

The Kadam family leaves India for France where they open a restaurant directly across the road from Madame Mallory's Michelin-starred eatery.
