skinsfansince1988
Not necessarily per the tweet posted above, it just depends on whether the trade terms had any safeguard for the Cardinals:john_keim John Keim More from NFL: If Vonnie does not report & retires, then it depends on language of the terms of the trade. Otherwise, teams trade @ own risk plus I don't think the Cards wanted him, it sounds like the Redskins offered him as part of the deal
kvarlo12000
I would have rather kept the draft pick and shipped out Vonnie for a pick. And then pick up Michael Bush. Yeah but that might not have been an option
tml6157
I dont think the trade really hinged on a old 3-4 DE. Im sure they can just solidify the pick to a 6th instead of a conditional pick.
jflow78
plus I don't think the Cards wanted him, it sounds like the Redskins offered him as part of the deal I hope not. I like Hightower's size and speed as one of our backs. He'd be a great guy to throw into a multi-back system.
skinsfansince1988
I can't believe that a player doesn't want to leave the Redskins, when was the last time that happened
brandymac27
You may be right. At first I thought it was bad news for Williams but thinking about the past week and the youth movement, Sellers is likely odd man out not to mention missing reps by working at TE. Not sure we need another TE. I really like Sellers and we all know some of the crushing blows he used to deliver but that was a few years ago. I still have a tough time shaking memories from that Bengals game a few years back too. According to the twitter thread, we signed a TE earlier today. NoVaSkins21
I like the trade. The Skins got a young guy and traded a guy who was getting way up there in age. Holliday and Daniels, although he was great guy here on ES, both had to go.
skinsfan07
If Vonnie retires, I'll be pissed. Just let the trade clear, than retire! Dang!
SkinsTribeVA
I would have rather kept the draft pick and shipped out Vonnie for a pick. And then pick up Michael Bush. I could be wrong but I believe Michael Bush is a RFA, meaning we'd still have to give up a pick for him.
RabidFan
I could see Daniels back for vet minimum and depth plus his leadership is unheralded.
Water Boy
Yeah but that might not have been an option Bush is a freeagent.
KDawg
Hmmm first I've heard of Keiland at FB. If that's true, he can also function as the 4th back, while still maintaining a fullback in an HBack style offense. I think Keiland, Sellers and Young are in competition for one spot. Water Boy
I could be wrong but I believe Michael Bush is a RFA, meaning we'd still have to give up a pick for him. Just looked it up and the site I looked at said he is a URFA.
terpfan
Bush is a freeagent. I assume hemeant no one would trade us a pick for 35 year old Vonnie Holliday, which I agree with.
Rudechain
Bush is a freeagent. actually, he is a restricted free agent. http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/41971/michael-bush-officially-is-a-rfa
dadirtbags
i think this is a great addition....i was hoping we would sign a vet who is young...hail

MattFancy
I'm ok with Hightower. He is a good pass catcher out of the backfield and a solid short yardage guy too. He always seems to get a decent amount of TDs every year. We all know what Shanny can do with RBs. So I think it s a good move
Conn
Bush is a freeagent. If Bush was a FA, I'd REALLY want him on a cheap contract. But he's not.
THE HAMMER'IN HOG
I like it! The guy is explosive he's just not a feature back but if used the right way he could be a valuable asset. And Holliday is no big lose, and the pick is probably a late rd pick, looks like a good deal for us.
paloosa
Hightower is not a bad player but he isn't a superstar either. Maybe Shanahan sees something more. I am just not sold on the trade but knew that Holliday's days were numbered.
tml6157
We kept two FBs last season and I can see us doing the same. But at the same time I can see 2nd FB as the bubble guy for an additional WR. RB - Torain - Hightower - Helu FB - Young - Williams PS - Royster Cut - Sellers
RedskinPryde
Finally, a move the skins make that I actually like. Not that its addressing the serious offensive issues were dealing with at quarterback and the offensive line... But it does give us some very generous running back depth behind torain and we gave up very little to get him.
tml6157
In addition, Hightower is not a feature back but he is a TD machine. I remember seeing multiple fantasy guru's saying he is a definite pickup for his TD scoring ability. I also never saw Shanahan going into the season with Torain and two rookie RBs. I am just not sold on the trade but knew that Holliday's days were numbered. We don't need superstars we need players who want to work hard. Not sold on getting rid of Vonnie Holiday??? Huh? Hightower wont make or break our team, but he would contribute more than Vonnie, who in my opinion was a roster cut anyways.
