Per Adam Schefter: Arizona trades Tim Hightower to Skins for Vonnie Holliday and pick

can we ever go through just 1 year without trading away draft picks

Let's say it's a 6th. The past 3 years, the 6th round has given us:

Durant Brooks

Kareem Moore

Colt Brennan

Robert Henson

Dennis Morris

I'll gladly give away a 6th for a back of Hightowers skill set.

This kid had 63 receptions in his last year playing with Kurt Warner.

And what logjam? Guys like K. Williams and J. Davis are borderline roster guys. Hightower is a sizeable upgrade over those types of RBs.

Totally agreed. Williams is likely gone, as is Davis.

I like the move, Tim Hightower can end up being productive in a rotation of backs. He can block well, and his YPC has increased each year in the league. He's young, and most likely knows he's competing.

As for his fumbles, I think that can be corrected. I seem to remember Tiki Barber had a problem holding onto the ball too. ( not saying Hightower is the next Tiki before anyone goes there)

Would not be surprised if we kept four backs: Torain, Hightower, Helu and Royster. Keiland Williams is going to have to beat out Young at FB to make the roster. Did anyone see the picture of him at camp? Williams put on a lot of weight, definitely looks much more like a fullback now anyways, but I don't think they're even looking at him as a running back anymore.

Peterson as well 4-9-7-1.

He scored 3 touchdowns for the Cardinals in the playoffs in their Superbowl run in 2008, 2 of them were receiving.

In the 2009 playoffs, he ran for 2 more TDs, one of them a 70-yarder at New Orleans.

In 6 playoff games, Hightower has 5 TDs.

Great trade IMO

A young back with great potential for an old vet and a late rounder.

Love the competition at WR and RB this year, our 2 biggest weakness last year. May the best players win the roster spots. The days of gimme are over. You need to earn it.

The logjam of unknowns with a known guy, our best past (t) rusher? wow facepalm

The facepalm is giving up our best pass rushing defensive lineman AND a draft pick for a running back who fumbles more than Ladell Betts. I wouldn't dislike it so much if we kept the pick.

This FO has been magnficent thus far. Almost every signing has been a semi-known quantity just entering their prime who have all the motivation (and maybe even more importantly, the opportunity) to become superstars as Redskins. Simply brilliant.

Awesome!

He watched the Cards draft Beanie and then Ryan Williams. Now his home-town team with a murky RB situation trades for him...that's the kind of guy who busts his ass for you and appreciates the opportunity. And he was already known as a great locker room guy and hard worker.

Notice a trend? Bringing in guys like Cofield, Bowen, and Hightower, all guys who recognize that we believe in them more than their last team and will let them prove their talent if they deserve it. Combine that with smart pickups like the Wilson pull, a draft full of blue-collar, team-captain type guys, and the trading of divas and media-whores like AH and McNabb, and I'm more excited than ever about this team!
