No FGs scored in the last ~2:30 when we had the 8 point lead. Witman doesn't call a single TO as Toronto makes their run.

One loss closer to firing this clown.

But Wall has to take the blame. He was god awful tonight and then of course bricks the most important FTs in the game. He is not a clutch FT shooter AT ALL. He ALWAYS misses at least one FT late in games. ALWAYS.

John Wall being **** is the Wizards biggest problem. More than the front court. He's been **** for most of a month and his **** play late in this one lost it. Stars have to produce, if they don't then there is no point pointing out the difficulties the role players are having.

John is THE star on this team and he's been ****.

Defense plays well, can't score. Offense plays well, can't stop anybody. They've shown they can do both, now wondering if they can do both consistently before its too late and they're catching the tailend of playoff seeds. Now way Wall keeps playing like this, it just doesn't make sense.

Gortat says negativity from everyone makes it not fun coming to arena any more #WizardsTalk #NBA @CSNWizards #WizRaptors

no more negativity, gotta spare the center's psyche

I will say it takes a certain mental toughness to play in this town. We are soooo used to losing and any bit of bad play just adds on to the feeling of negativity. You can't really blame the fans, we're so used to the losing we can't help it.

"I think it starts with big expectations before the season. Everybody though we’re going to go to conference finals and stuff like that. We didn’t make any spectacular trades or signings in the offseason," Gortat said. "It’s not like we’re supposed to be three times a much better team this year. We lost Paul Pierce, a guy who’s a great leader, experienced player. We signed three players that they deliver good stuff to the table for us but at the end of the day they’re not All-Stars. Expectations are high and we are not up there yet."

so what exactly were Gortat's expectations going into the season? another season of treading water?

Hahahahahahahaha

Really?  It takes mental toughness to play in LA or NY or Boston.  It takes clowns to play in DC.

In all fairness, that's exactly what our GM set us up for to make sure we'd have room for KD next offseason. How else can the state of our front court be explained?

Gortat needs to focus on playing better instead of what people are saying. But he's right that we basically pretended to upgrade this roster and changed our identity in the middle of pretty much our entire conference upshifting a notch in competitiveness.

He's plainly stating that the team is worse.  Reading between the lines, there is something concerning about his mentioning the loss of leadership.  Wall's had a history of needing a vet to wake him up before.  Okafor did it, Ariza did it, and it's a safe bet Pierce slapped a couple fools in that locker room.  Perhaps the team drafted a lot of guys that don't have that type of personality.

Hahahahahahahaha

I don't think you have to be all the tough to play anywhere.  LA, NY, and Boston have had **** teams for years and years and no one had a panic attack because the mean media wasn't nice to them.  Rondo is a sensitive lunatic and he managed to endure the Boston media long enough to chase everyone else the hell out of Boston before the team finally got rid of him.

I don't think the media causes locker room problems as much as locker room problems boil over and then appear in the media.

Pace and space. Can anyone name the last team to win using that offense? Our trademark the last 2 seasons was brutally tough defense. Now we play run n gun offense which leads to increased TOs and prevents tough defense by design. It's like Randy asked what offense can I run to not get killed for my offensive game plan?

Still no timeout to break a run. Still no real plan. Why is Wall covering Lowery in the back court? Ball goes there the game is over. Why is Beal playing over Derozan giving him the cut inside? Why is Gortat playing over Scola preventing him from helping on Derozan and preventing help defense from leaving a shooter?

The D on the final possession was terrible, but the answer to your question is Golden State. Houston also plays pace and space and they won 56 games last year. OKC plays a high pace offense where they are consistently in the top 7 or 8 in possessions and they play a lot of small lineups and they've been 50+ game winners. The Clippers are also a high pace offense that is usually in the top ten for pace and possessions. They don't truly play small, because Griffin is a true PF. He just happens to be one that handles the ball on the perimeter. The Heatles were also a small ball team, but they weren't pacey. Didn't have young enough legs to play fast.

Playing a high pace offense with small line ups has become the new orthodoxy, it's not a revolutionary system any more. Teams that have young and fast enough legs to run it do. That's definitely us. The Wizards are actually several years behind the curve in making the switch. We should have been playing a fastbreak offense with shooters at the 2, 3, and 4 the moment we drafted Wall.

The problem isn't the system. Golden State runs it. And they prove you can run the offense and still play great defense. The problem is our players aren't playing well.
