Evan Turner: John Wall Got ‘Christmas Early’ With ‘Garbage’ Foul Call http://go.nesn.com/1z1pEoW

Evan Turner won’t quibble with the first nine points John Wall scored in double overtime Monday night. But he was steaming mad over the 10th. Wall’s final point, the eventual game-winner in the Washington Wizards’ wild, 133-132 win over the Boston Celtics, came on a free throw with 44 seconds remaining. The officials ruled that Turner had fouled Wall as the Wizards point guard split two defenders for the go-ahead layup. Turner vehemently disagreed.

“He made a good play going to the rack and he got the bucket, but the and-one was garbage,” Turner said after the game, via The Boston Globe. “That was a horrible call, and it went like that the whole game. “John stepped up and hit some big, big, big, big, big shots, but right there he got the bucket and did his thing to tie the game, but it was Christmas early.” Wall, who finished with 26 points, seven rebounds and a career-high 17 assists, did hit some huge shots down the stretch for Washington, but judging by the replay, Turner’s gripe looks justified. Still, it’s never a great look to complain about officiating, especially when Turner already has done so once in his brief Celtics tenure.

Can you believe this ****? Yes, it was a phantom foul call. But the only reason the game went to OT was because of a bull**** charge drawn by Olynyk where he was very clearly sliding under Wall while Wall was in the air. So take the L and move on. Quit your whining about a single call. John ate your lunch. You'll always be "the other guy" from that draft.

To be fair, Boston's entire starting lineup (minus Jeff Green) was a non factor. The Celtics starting 5 were all negative, the entire (playing) bench was positive. Meanwhile, our starters were positive (Beal was 0), and our bench was a negative (except Butler).

Brad Stevens coached circles around Wittman. Our end of game inbounds are still dreadful. Randy's use of TOs is HORRENDOUS. 23 point lead to 8 with only 1 TO? The **** outta here. Officiating was questionable. Kelly Dazed and Confused loves to grab and set moving screens and slide under shooters and never got called for it. Zeller has never heard of over the back. But the and 1 at the end for Wall? Smart and Turner made no contact with Wall. One phantom call went our way all night, and it was the most important one.

The job Stevens did on Beal was amazing.  They were SWARMING him the second he touched the rock.  I don't know if anyone picked up on it, but Beal's body language was that of someone who was defeated.  As soon as the buzzer rang, and we won the game, Wall made a beeline over to Beal.  He was consoling him.  I haven't seen Beal like this since his rookie year.  Hopefully he bounces back quickly.

Some crow?

Herd w/Colin Cowherd ‏@TheHerd  2h

Hear @ESPN_Colin: John Wall has grown and matured. He has a reservoir of character that I see every night when he plays. #HERD

I don't care what Cowherd says.  He overstepped his bounds on numerous occasions when discussing Wall.  His opinion on ANYTHING involving Wall is null and void.  He's a straight up chump.  Damage has been done.  He needs to apologize face-to-face...because I'm sure he'd only say the **** that he did behind the comfort of a mic, some 1000+ miles away from DC (or where ever he broadcasts from).

Cowherd played and lost. He assumed Wall would bust like so many, hedged his bets more and more as it took Wall a bit to grow and become legit and now Cowherd was obviously wrong and has to eat ****. **** him.

Popeman is right, the only reason that game got to OT was Boston benefiting from some bad calls. Olynyk should have been called for a blocking foul on Wall, not a charge called on Wall. Two bad charges called on Wall in the fourth. The Smart foul I have less of a problem with but it was still a bad call.

Cowherd was flat out race-baiting with his comments about John Wall when he was a rookie. Using the dog-whistle about John's dancing and how he lacked character because he grew up in a single parent home. Now that his national, mostly white audience has accepted John as a great player, he finally starts praising John? **** Cowherd. He is trash.

Posting this in the Wiz thread because the site won't let GACOLB receive any new messages for some reason...

Jazz game, Sunday.

Ok, bro. We are confirmed for Sunday.  Gonna grab 4 upper-deck tix tonight.  Do you want me to grab a 5th or 6th for you or maybe just let you know the section number so you can sit nearby?  We should be at a pub watching the conclusion of the Skins game by about 300-330.  Hope you can make it!

Hope some of you other Wizard brethren can make it, too!

I also think Kyle Lowry is having a slightly better season than Wall, but that comes with the caveat that he plays a lesser role than Wall, is not nearly the passer or defender Wall is, and has a slightly better supporting cast. Beal ain't DeRozan yet. Wall doesn't have the luxury of lowering his usage rate to increase his efficiency, shooting from just two parts of the floor, and passing to AS caliber offensive creators. And he doesn't have the luxury of not playing defense.

chill, Lowry is arguably the best defender at the point guard position. (well 2nd best, if we are being honest that gremlin Patrick Beverly is the best).

Lowry, Conley, Wall are in the conversation for 2nd best defensive point guard. Then CP3 and whomever else you want to put there.

yup, I said it last night

Brad Beal doesnt want the ball

I dont think he took a shot for both OT periods

It occurs to me that Wall's explosion in assists have coincided with Humphries becoming a starter and developing some chemistry with him. He gets like 3 or 4 assists off drive and kicks and pick and pops to Humphries, who has been nailing the open 18-20 footer with great accuracy.

Nene is a playmaker whose lost a lot of his ability to finish. Worse pick and pop finisher than Hump and not a PnR finisher. There isn't a lot of offensive synergy with Wall. Nene's ended up becoming more of a defensive specialist here.

At this point, with the plantar fasciitis flaring up and causing other injuries, Nene needs to be coming off the bench. We'll get more offensive synergy in our lineups by having him play with the bench anyway.

I'm over Nene and am ready for his contract to expire.  If dude cared, and took his training seriously, he would have done all he could to drop 20-25 pounds going into this season.

He's a damn good player when he's on the floor, but he's good for about 50-60 games played per year.  We need guys on this roster who are reliable.  He's just not it.

Evan Turner is garbage, the Celtics are garbage. Each of the last two games the Celtics relied on red-hot 3 pt shooting to stay in the game, they don't have any offense they just have these assholes chucking shots with the hope that some of them get hot, then they become the starters for the game.

I'm not mad at the Celtics. They gave us two great games and played their asses off. You've got to admire the fight they showed and their coach that left the bench mob out there indefinitely when they had success.

I'm not mad at Turner either, he hated a call... that's pretty much part of basketball. It's not like he claimed to be part of the best back court right before losing his spot as a starter.
