  1. The Korean War doesn't get enough love. The Communists basically conquered the entrie peninsula, we hadn't given a **** about Korea one way or another (I wonder would have happened if the South had just voted Communist) but after China, all of a sudden Korea mattered. So the Soviet Union was throwing some temper tantrum at the UN and were boycotting some ****. Fine. They weren't there to veto anything so we actually built a UN Army to fight the North. Script gets flipped, ee finally get our **** together and take over damn near the entire peninsula. Then out of no where China comes in with like 2 billion soldiers and blah blah blah, the war ends right where **** was before it started. Except a **** ton of people died for the 38th Parallel.
  2. So far that new show on A&E about rookie CO's just starting out their careers is--again, so far--the best, most realistic and informative show on prison life. I think it's called "Behind Bars". Ťhe only thing missing is and will always be the sadistic, sociopathic veteran CO's with the Personalities and emotional and mental makeups that made the SS and death camps possible. They're few and far between but their existence almost overrides everything and everyone else and sets the tone of life. They'd never agree to do the show if that would be shown. That said, they do show the douche rookie CO's and the inmates telling them to kick rocks, eat ****, **** off and that just because they have a badge on it doesn't mean they can talk and treat people however they want. They're still fresh enough that they aren't confident enough to be the psychopaths some of the vets are. You can see who has it in them. And I hope people take something away from them hiring that tiny little girl and letting her run an entire unit (140 prisoners vs her). I think it's called Behind Bars: Rookie something's. Really recommend it. (Really outside of sports and random movies I record from the movie channels, I'm not sure I watch anything not on A&E, the Military Channel (or w/e the hell it's officially called now. Changed their name like four times now. My only complaint with them is that they spend waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much time on WWII. Would love to see some self-produced stuff on other wars. Like the war for the control of Russia after the Communist takeover. Even more unknown, random things. Would love to see some stuff on the Crusades. The invasion of Czecloslovokia and crushing Czech Spring. Anything on tbe Cold War. So on and so forth. Would be so much better than WWII in Color, the Pacific War in Color, Hitler's Rise, Hitler's Colonoscopy...in Color!! And it's funny, all the **** they show about WWII, I'm not sure I've ever heard Tojo's name. So much waisted potential) and Lifetime Channel (they got some weird ****). Go to's... The First 48 (easily the greatest reality show ever created) Intervention (I finally could bring myself to watch it just about 6 months ago. It's excellent. Do wonder about their methods though--see the last thread i started in here) Hoarders and Hoarders: Buried Alive - not sure there has ever been shows with a better look at mental health. I mean it's gross and the animal ones are sickening but I really do think you learn about mental health diseases. It's pretty fascinating. Engineering am Empire - comes on the second History Channel, H2. Hosted by Robocop (seriously, he's some type of history expert (wanna say early-Rennisance Italy is his go to) out of the Uni of Syracuse.) It's a fascinating show. Basically what I want out of the Military Channel, minus the focus on war. If you're a big time history nerd like me, I don't think there's a better show on TV. Killer Kids - one of my Lifetime Channel shows. 253 on DirecTV. As far as the show...**** man. Just ****. History Detectives - on PBS. 26 on DirecTV. These experts get called out to normal folks who have some fascinating random historical item that they found in their great-grandmother's attic when they were clearing it out (for example). They don't know anything about it and want to know more. An example would be like some WWI diary with no name on it. So these experts travel around the country talking to people to put the story behind the item. Cool little time killer. Some other new shows I'm getting into: What History Forgot - the WWII Channel (287 on DirecTV) Bullet Points - WWII Channel. Now this is what I want from them. Reminds me of Engineering an Empire but on wars. Finally got something about Korea. Evolution of Evil - WWII Channel. Nice little one-hour biographical breakdowns of some of the evil men of the 20th Century. So far, in order: Qaddafi, Hitler, Stalin, Tojo (looks like I had a brain fart), Mao last week, I think Saddam is this week and Mussolini after that. Not sure then. But yeah, good show. Triggers: Weapons That Changed the World - maybe I should chill on my ****ing of the WWII Channel (287) because I sure as hell watch a lot of their shows. Actually watched this earlier today. The history of the RPG. I mean how cool is that? American Titans - yup....287. New show. About rich people, how they got there and their top rivalries. First two episodes: "Carnegie vs Frick" and "Rockefeller vs Scott". Interesting. Topics I know absolutely nothing about. Monster in My Family - basically a close family member of a serial killer meets a close family member of one of his victims. Watched it today. John Wayne Gacy's sister and niece met the sister of one of his victims. It's not just them talking to each other. First 50 minutes are the story of the serial killer (Gacy? **** man. Can you imagine how it was before fingerprints, let alone DNA. Imagine Gacy in the year 1500? Horrifying.) and then the last ten minutes are are the meeting and discussion. Hosted by the daughter of some serial killer in Oregon or something. Of course in the 80's. It's amazing how much DNA testing has changed the world. And then I like random miniseries on PBS. think the last one was a three-part series called The Abolitionists about the history of the slavery abolition movement in the US from the early 19th Century up to the Civil War. I'm not sure, maybe someone here knows, but I think all the miniseries fall under the "American Experience" subtitle. Like "The Abolitionists: American Experience" OK so my insomnia, out of Xanax for the next two days (refill), post has ended. Hopefully someone gets something out of it.
  3. Got pulled over by VA State Trooper a few days ago. Was allegedly going 86 in my suped up Prius. He did me a solid just giving me a speeding instead of reckless. A reckless would seriously have ****ed me. Anyway point of this post. As known I probably have more experience with police and other authoritative agencies then anyone on this board. For the first time in my life--and it was the first words out of his mouth--I heard "Before we start, just want to inform you this interaction is being recorded by both audio and video". That's the only solutions to this ****. And the cops shouldn't have a single ****ing problem with it
  4. 8/1 at 11:3PAM to 1:30AM,"Hardwood Classics" on NBA TV, they're showing Pistons/Wizards. Great game to watch for you youngsters. You get to see Hill in his prime pre-injuries (he drops 46 on us) and you get to see the catastrophic decade us old heads try not to bring up
  5. Hahahahahahahahahahahaha Sorry. Just catching up. Kinda wish that was my last post.
  6. Well a "n-word" is a "n-word". Might as well round them all up
  7. I was big on Jeffrey Hammonds. No ****ing idea why. Just that he was Stanford like the successful Mussina, 6th overall pick iirc, 5 tool player, compared to Bonds (pre-roids dur). I was convinced he was a stud and a lock for greatness. They actually made and I actually found a Hammonds clock in some random bin at K-Mart. Undoubtedly one of the greatest moments of my childhood. (in my defense he was born without knees and he was an All Star in Colorado)
  8. That's my point. That LeBron did it against some **** isn't a plus for him and a knock on Jordan. And yes, Jordan did. You think his first title came in '98? He beat Zeke and Magic to get his first. Then he beat Drexler and Co. Then Barkley. Payton, Kemp and Schrempf, who were more than legit (check those Sonics teams records.) Then Stockton and Malone. LeBron has beaten...an old Spurs who then came back and shook his entire world up the next season. And...?And believe me, there are VERY few athletes I despise more than Jordan.
  9. Wasn't Jordan's comp a bit higher though? It's not like LeBron is single handedly running through Bird, Magic and the Bad Boy Pistons
  10. I totally get what you're getting at. My question: how the **** does Swaggy P get a "moron" and "Team Captain" Baltche gets a "retard" but ****ing Pierre, WHO WAS ****ING RAISED BY PRO BASKETBALL PLAYERS, only gets a run-of-the-mill "bust"? It's hard for me to take the rest of your opinions seriously. (Not serious if you don't know my posting by now) For real, I wish there was like some advanced stat that measured on-court base retardation. I can't imagine a trio of teammates in NBA history that comes close to their levei. And those weren't bench warmers. They were what we were basing our future on. Outside hands11 and his really weird, largely-perverted sexual fascination with Baltche--though I will say, hands11 was well before his time when it came to gay marriage so props to him on that (super duper props to anyone who gets that 8-year-old ES joke, when all the Wiz posting was done in the local bball forum. RIP baby. You helped me become a man. I'll never forget you), I'm not sure anyone ever really liked or had any type of real hope for Baltche's bum ass. That said, many here, myself included, to various levels, had some hope for Pierre and Swaggy P. And coming dead in the very heralded days of Agent Zero, we even rejoiced in their...quirkiness (being nice). Perfect fits for the team! They can follow Gil's work ethic (never sniffed 50 wins) and be lead and taught how to be pros by our great leader Antawn. (Antawn as a leader was a total fraud. Dude didn't give a ****. Never did. Though his ride is sick. Saw him on the highway heading to Charlotte. Bently. Sick as ****). But yeah, Swaggy P and Pierre and Baltche controlled our hopes and dreams. Obviously we were just lying to ourselves after years of ****. But think about that. Arguably the biggest case of sports PTSD in sports history... (hate using that term here, PTSD--myself and stepfather have both had our issues with it--but I can't think of a better term (please help if you can) and I know people know this is largely da bull**** post about bull****) ...when your hopes and dreams are based on the development of Baltche, Young and McGee? I mean Holy ****. But is it really unexpected? I went to my first game in the late in the '87/'88 season. The highlight of younger years 5-8/9 was a ****ing poster. I doubt I even need to go into detail. Remember the Dunk Contest? Javale got absolutely robbed by ****ing Kia. Holy ****. I have no doubts the 300 Wizfan Hardcores in the DMV would've rioted if logistically possible. That was OUR Dunk Title goddammit. All these years of **** and now ****ing Kia is making us its ****. But it was nice to feel emotion again. From the high of Agent Zero to the low was just so ****ing deflating. But now, finally, we mattered again. Our guy, possibly. potentially the most athletic young big in the League, should've won the Dunk Contest. Easily the most excitement since the heights of Gil (his 62 in gold in LA maybe) and right there when the GOAT dropped 50+ in OUR uniform! (I was at that game. Holler you jealous ****es). But yeah, in all seriousness, the point of this post was to just look where we've been in longterm and RECENT history, the crap we used to get hyped over. And now we are. For the first time in my life I can dream Finals and not freakshow posters* As in a large picture you put up on your wall and someone like....say... Kosher Ham for example. Understood?
  11. You'd really be doing more to help yourself if you didn't at like a douche, "LMAO" at such a serious serious issues where people weren't losing their lives and if you were actually a cop and not a corrections officer. But hey a "n-word" is "n-word". They probably deserved it. And less work for you.Anyway if we going the music route, this is my personal fav on the issue... That song is 23 years old. This issue isn't new. Cell phone cameras and the Internet are
  12. Heard someone on the radio comparing this and particularly Wall's path to those of the Pistons not being able to beat the Celtics (and from Wall's draft day I've compared him to Zeke and said we need to build our team off their blueprint) or the Bulls not being able to beat the Pistons. That **** like this, in the long run, is actually good for your team. They grow from it, they mature, the hunger, the drive, get the **** out of their way. That if we weren't going to win the title anyway, maybe it's best we going out like this. That's what I'm telling myself anyway
  13. It's funny. Apparently he's got some segment or something that he calls "Old Man Radio", swear to god i can't tell the difference. But yeah, I think you get some quality Wiz talk on the Sports Fix after Kornheiser. At least when Loverro's fat ass is in the hospital
