He would retain talent like abrams, gore et al. You know something the current regime has been loathe to do with harper, Turner, Scherzer et al. And if he controls monumental and they get the rights it'd mean a welcome divorce from the MASN deal (very corrupt!) and a very fair, very strong deal that makes a lot of money for the Nats.

The caps spend plenty. Why can't the wizards? Because the league is rigged against small market teams like Washington. It's very unfair. He can try spending but the wizards haven't had a successful free agency acquisitions since Gilbert Arenas.

Consider that.

Washington is a small market team???

It is. That's why they used the supermax twice on Wall and Beal. Why do you think Durant repeatedly spurns the Wizards when he goes on one of his multiple FA tours? He wants to win a ring. Can you win a ring in Washington?

Not since 79.

Since the NBA is a very facetious league where players largely care about colluding with their friends to win rings, why the **** would they come to DC, this small market where the Wizards aren't even the main focus of the sports landscape? The Wizards are arguably 4th in relevance here with very little allure or hype. Washington is a wasteland. A small market wasteland. Spare me the talk about the DMV being major and big. In terms of the NBA the Wizards absolutely are a small market. And they, like the other small market teams, are doomed to failure. The same jabronis always at the bottom of the league. Washington. Orlando. Detroit. OKC (without Durant), etc.

This league pisses me off so much sometimes. The Wizards constantly being at the bottom rung by factors NOT relating to their own also continues to piss me off. I'm not sure how much more of this crap I can take. It's been going on since 1979. The lack of ability to draw ANY elite-caliber free agent other than Jordan and Arenas, and one was way past their prime.

At the end of the day, there was always a "Curse of Lez Boulez." And this ass team continues to show why this curse STILL hasn't been lifted since 79. One can only hope it doesn't take 86 years to break this particular "curse".

There is nothing small market about DC. The Wiz are doomed to failure from bad management and terrible drafting. Same that holds a lot of franchises. Look at the Knicks. As big market as any city in every sense of the word and they have sucked for a long time.

Last thing on this for the day but I'm really mad and angry. The fact an organization like the Wizards can't even KEEP Kyle Kuzma and he is openly considering a trade is a disaster. How do you let that guy walk? Why can't he stay? Because the Wizards are a small market team. They are miles away from championship caliber and they are not a winner. Kyle wants to play for a winner. So sadly the Wizards will likely deal him. Even if they don't he's gone in FA. They have a guy like him who gives his heart every game and puts up like 40 ppg yet they can't even keep him? What the ****?

I had a lot of hope for Beal, Kyle and KP this year. That faded VERY fast. They can't come close to Draymond, Klay and Curry. So sad that was our cheap imitation and it failed miserably.

I wonder how long us Wizards fans will live in mediocrity and purgatory. I want to see this team get good again. I am harsh because I love, but the realistic hope is as a "small market" the NBA will do us  NO FAVORS. And we cannot draw ANY FA worth a ****. So the struggles will continue. And any talented players we DO have will walk. Beal said he stayed only because he couldn't find anything better. I've had it up to here with this damn team, and it's mostly the corrupt league's fault. You can't win in this league if you don't have a loaded roster full of elite superstars.

I'll give you Davis as a terrible draft pick but Rui and Deni have been decent. But at the end of the day players want to play for a winner. Sometimes a small market may strike it lucky like Minny or NO. But those teams have no future in the playoffs. Even Ja Morant and Memphis, a previously small market that lucked into Ja, will likely be eliminated by a ,motivated GS again (and YES I know GS is playing like crap). The cards are already stacked against Washington. It's like playing in a casino where the house always wins. It's always a rigged game and the deck is against Washington. What else do you expect them to do? The most talented team they had in ages is 4 slots away from the 1st overall pick potential lol

I think the Wizards will lose their next six games. They will be underdogs in all of them.

They need to. This inept FO (and Leonsis) needs to realize that whole team needs to be nuked and rebuilt.

Zach Lowe & Bobby Marks of ESPN just tore into the Wizards in Lowe's latest podcast (Starts at 16:15)

I do agree Beal shouldn't have been re-signed to such a huge contract. SHould have blown it all up and started over

and they gave him all the bells and whistles to make it near impossible to move him. Not trade clause. Obsorb a chunk of his deal. Basically the a terrible deal for the team.

The point in the season where we can all "let go" has come early this year. Relax, my friends. You don't have to tune in to every game now. You don't have to worry about a playoff seed. You can simply let it all drift out to sea and enjoy your time without the stress of close games with late turnovers, injury reports, and the standings.

Sure, they'll have some 3-game win streaks to tease you but that's all only to ensure they don't get a good draft spot. Honestly, I love this roster but we couldn't match it with a good coach. That combo will never come to fruition in DC because Ted thinks you only need good players. A true great coach is too expensive or elusive.

Sooooo here we are again. THAT time of year when we can all breathe our annual exhale in resignation of failure. It just came in December instead of early March.  A blessing!

When your team stinks and is locked into mediocrity and the upcoming draft has that singular superstar you can build a franchise around, sell everything.  Lakers want Beal?  Two unprotected?  Hell yes.  Kuzma isn't gonna resign?  Thank you for letting us know.  We'll move you to a contender where your production will mean something.  KP looks good when healthy.  Any takers?  Any at all.

Johnny Davis got some action in garbage time.  Did nothing out there (no boards, dimes, shot attempts, etc).  Actively ran away from the ball forcing Anthony Gill to score in iso.  Dude looks horrible out there.

he’s the worst looking 1st round pick we’ve had in a while.  Worse than Jan Vesely so far, and that’s not even a slight exaggeration.  Dude looks like he might not start in China.

Jan had NBA athleticism, quickness, speed, length, etc. in spades.  He just had no confidence. It is way different than Davis who looks like he's in cement every time he plays.  Dude looks like total garbage on the court. His G-league stats are pretty bad.  In contrast, Vernon Carey always puts up numbers in the G-league. Davis doesn't deserve to have his option picked up.
