KingGibbs
This according to XXX ESPN radio. They are also looking at RB's. Why?

NewCliche21
This is a mixed bag if it's true. On one hand, good, let him heal up for next year. On the other, it would've been nice to have our new quarterback working with the centerpiece of our offense.
ntotoro
Man, am I surprised. Seriously. Not being sarcastic at all.
TheLongshot
I'll wait until there is confirmation of this. Personally, it would surprise me if it was true. Jason
CPortJGibbs89
I assume this means he is done for the year?? Also what is wrong with Betts, and Duckett, with rock coming in, isnt that enough? Let Duckett and Betts showcase there stuff.
Brandon Lloyd Christmas
im really glad if this is true. portis has been beat to hell all season, why even bother trying to limp him back in. let him rest so he can put up another 1500 yard season next year. betts is good enough to get 80+ a game, plus i wanna see campbell THROWING the football, he needs all the experience he can get. the looking at running backs confuses me. id be shocked if we dealt portis, but we'll probably lose duckett and betts after this season and theyll look for a good number 2. although how crazy would it be if they traded portis for draft picks, made betts the feature back and used duckett for short yardage? Capt'n Obvious
I would be surprised if it was true, I would also be surprised if we are looking for runningbacks.
Tulane Skins Fan
talk about throwing in the season. this means even with a miracle 7-0 finish portis wouldnt be able to play in the playoffs. WTF!
Isifhan
I'm not very surprised at this move. I think it's actually a good one, although it really sucks. I have no idea why they would be looking for running back help. We have enough.

Lombardi's_kid_brother
That's a little surprising actually. It's not like we don't have enough RBs to fill the void for a week or two until they figure out his status.

Zen-like Todd
LIMP back in? He broke a bone in his hand, not his foot  That guy has had injuries all over the place, half of which aren't even mentioned often to the public.
Oldskool
If this is true, then it's not much of a surprise. Portis has been beat to hell this year but I don't understand the part about looking for another RB. What part of Betts, Duckett, and Cartwright don't they like? PeterMP
If you assume you are likely to lose Duckett and/or Betts, it makes sense to see if you can find a young guy to take the roster slot, and see if he can play as a #2 or #3 back next year. TD_washingtonredskins
If true, good decision. This guy needs to rest up and come into 2007 healthy and ready! By that time, Jason will have 7 games under his belt (hopefully) and we can start training camp off strongly! To address the concern of not having Portis during a miracle playoff run...a) it's not happening and if we go 7-0 to get in without him, you would probably never want to mess with something that is working. MRMADD
No big deal. The season is over anyway. Let him rest up, get whatever surgery he needs, and get ready for next year.
roqnap1
IF this is true...I would be looking for another RB too. One that can bounce to the outside like this offense needs. I love Betts and Duckett...but they can only run full steam ahead. Everytime I have seen them try to swing to the sides it gains 2 yards max. Rock has the ability to bounce to the outside...but doesn't do it often enough and that could just be playcalling. We need a cutter....
70th Week
sure seems as if Joe is throwing in the season to me.He sounded depressed to death over Brunell and I didnt quite like it when he said of Jason,"I hope he makes the best of it"
stwasm
I think it's a good move. He's banged up. He's not healthy. Let's just let him rest and see what we have in T.J. Duckett. I could see Duckett moving past Betts as the #2 back. Suddenly, that move to acquire Duckett is looking better and better.
cyfar
CP has had a :pooh:ty year. I think it's best that he gets to rest up for next year. Everytime he'd fight his way back from one injury something else would pop up.
skins4eva
maybe we'll give our 1st round pick away for Ron Dayne.
stwasm
maybe we'll give our 1st round pick away for Ron Dayne. I sincerely hope that's a joke. We've given away ENOUGH draft picks to last me a lifetime!
