tr1
This just confirms why Portis hasn't had great numbers this year....lingering injury. It also justifies getting Duckett. I'm surprised at how few posters have noticed that the Skins have been the walking wounded this year...especially on d. This is probably the biggest reason for our record. Uno Mas
Why does it have to be a mistake. I've said all along since his injury he would have his shoulder repaired in the off season. It's just comes sooner then I expected. That is actually a good thing. It will get his rehab started sooner.I know shoulder injuries............ str8jacket
Definitely gonna miss CP, but on the positive side it gives us a chance to take a look at another important position in a year where Betts and Duckett both have contracts ending. I feel that both are very competent and can get the job done. Both are averaging 5 yrds per carry which is good and Betts has had a couple of really good games. I think most important is that the coaching staff run the ball the same number of times as they would if CP were back there and not force JC to throw to much. They have tended to not give the backs many carries when CP has been out. And given his injuries it's a good chance to see what these guys can do. Would love to see Duckett utilized more on 3rd and shorts and goaline situations. And also given the injuries maybe a Portis trade might be in the works, I've heard people mention that. One of the players we could get something out of. But CP is a great back and really the heart of the team, and our best player. Will definitely be missed. But the remainder of this season is up to all of these guys and hopefully they can give us a much needed spark and show what they can bring. Really looking forward to the rest of the season now. Love_Them_Dirtbags
Yep, and Moss needs to sit for a while, too, so he can get healthy. However long it takes. I love 'Tana as much as everyone else but I don't want him banged up going into next season. Give him his rest.
No_Pressure
Blessing in disguise- Portis can get fully healthy, and not waste himself in the pre-season next year.
JoeKnowsBest
No not Portis! Please don't put him on IR! The season is not over and he can still come back for the last 2 or 3 games! If we can go and win with Betts, Campbell, Moss, and the rest of the gang, we'll be exactly where we were last year heading into December. 5-6 with a shot at the playoffs. Right now we are only 3 games out of first place in the division. And in todays NFL any thing can happen. Those division rivals are now facing the meat of their schedule and it will be harder for them to win. We can still do it and to lose Portis for the season would put a damper on our hopes when we could've had his services for the lats few games. Plus, I'd like to see my favorite Redskin run the ball again! I fear he will lose his job if he doesn't come back! And that's for next year too. We need Portis back! There aren't many RBs in the league who are gifted with that kind of speed!. We need that! Please, please, don't end his season for sure. *praying smiley* We need Clinton Portis. Where's a praying smiley face when you need one?
JoeKnowsBest
Man, I hope they don't put him on IR. They really shouldn't. We need him at the end of the year! We are NOT out of this and we still have a big chance. We are only 3 games, count 'em: THREE games out of first place in the division. And the Rest of the NFC isn't so hot right now either in the wild card race. It's been up and down across the conference. Not to forget that if we win our next 2 games we will be at the EXACT same point we were last year. 5-6 heading into December and ready to make a run at the playoffs. I think Jason Campbell will help us. He will push the ball down the feild to our playmakers and Betts and Duckett will grind it out as long as they can. And we will win with these guys. They are quality ball players. Then when Duckett and Betts aren't as fresh anymore, we can have Portis back and reignite the offense in Mid-December to help us beat the Saints, Rams, and the ultimate win would be to beat the Giants for the division or the Wildcard. That game is our last game of the season and it's a game we MUST HAVE Portis for. It's a division rival that could have serious implications, and we will need his speed on the perimiter. I don't think we can accomplish that goal if we don't get Portis and his lightning speed back at the end of the season. Especially if we go into the playoffs like I think we can, we will need Portis and his talent. It would be a mistake to put Portis on IR at this point. We need to keep the door open. And let's not forget how much he means to that team in this locker room. If you don't know, don't ask 'Dr. I don't know'. Ask 'Reverend Gonna Change!' "Things are gonna change 'round here." Power and Guts. Never give up.
stwasm
The Washington Times is reporting that he will be placed on IR today. Frankly, this is a smart move. The man is banged up and, because of that, he's not as effective as he can be. I say rest him, let him get himself together for 2007 and let's see what Betts and, especially, Duckett can do. We have some very good backs, backs that are more suited to running between the tackles, which is what Gibbs likes to do. We gave away a third-round pick for Duckett. There's no point in just having him sit on the sidelines. Rest Portis and trust what's already there.

Power and Guts. Never give up. Indiana let it go.... Seriously, Portis has taken enough of beating....why risk shortening his career or wearing him down any further for a pipe dream of a playoff run with essentially a rookie QB? This team is incapable of playing consistently enough to win 2-3 game sin a row, let alone 6 of 7. The right thing is to refocus, play some young kids and sort the mess out for next year. Patrick86L
why does everyone think we are going to trade our franchise player? I don't get it. This was a great move because it gives him a great jump on rehab for next year so that he will be 100% even by the start of mini camp...:applause:
Brandon Lloyd Christmas
we can win games with betts guys, hes actually looked great this season. hes got great hands when it comes to catching, and his running has looked very good. he could easily be a #1 back on another team, so why not ours while our true guy is out? besides, now duckett will get tons of carries, which is a very good thing.
