Yeah, iron is basically the final state of fission (where bigger elements such as Uranium fracture into smaller elements) and fusion (where smaller elements smash together and fuse into bigger elements). Nerd moment coming... why are most barns red? because red is the cheapest paint. why is it the cheapest paint? because the main ingredient is Fe2O3 or FeO, (mostly iron... think that rust is iron (Fe) that is oxidizing (O)). And there's a lot of it because it only comes from the nuclear fusion of dying stars that got deposited billions/trillions of years ago as gasses pooled together to form Porto-earth.
