RGIII - They are going to come calling - Please say no to Madden

I have absolutely no issue with him winning the cover. If RGIII wants to compete, and be on the madden cover - then we should vote for him. If he feels its an achievement he wants, we should be there to help when we can!!

If he does not want to be on the cover because he believes the same thing as you, we should not vote.

Someone should Tweet him and ask him. If he really wants it (OP is right, it'll be offered at some point if he keeps playing the way he has), we vote and hope for the best. If he doesn't want it or doesn't care, explain that we don't want to risk it.

It sounds dumb, but there is an odd coincidence with the cover players. I'd play along and vote for someone else.

Odd coincidence is correct, see the following...

http://www.hergamelife.com/2012/11/exploring-the-madden-curse/ reports the following...

In 2000, the game’s cover featured Madden and Detroit Lions running back Barry Sanders. The future Hall of Famer retired after training camp, ending his 10-year career just shy of achieving the record for most career rushing yards.

Tennessee Titans running back Eddie George led his team to the Super Bowl and had the best season of his career before he graced the 2001 cover. After doing so, his team lost the divisional round in the playoffs and he never averaged more than 3.4 yards per carry again.

Daunte Culpepper similarly led his team, the Minnesota Vikings, to the playoffs before appearing on the cover in 2002. Afterwards, he threw 23 interceptions and broke the record for most fumbles in a single season.

St. Louis Rams running back Marshall Faulk appeared on the 2003 cover. He never had another 1,000 yard rushing season and his yards per carry averaged dropped from 5.4 to 5.0. He ended up retiring in 2005 due to knee injuries.

Now-infamous quarterback Michael Vick was on the 2004 cover when he still played for the Atlanta Falcons. He ended up breaking his fibula in a pre-season game against the Baltimore Ravens and the Falcons went 5-11.

Speaking of the Ravens, their middle linebacker Ray Lewis was featured on the 2005 cover. He then had his first season without an interception and sustained a hamstring injury.

After appearing on the 2006 cover, Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb tore his ACL and meniscus in a game against the Tennessee Titans.

Seattle Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander was coming off a record-setting season before he was chosen as the next Madden NFL player. He wound up breaking his foot and missed six games.

Vince Young, Tennessee Titans quarterback, was on the 2008 cover. Five games into the season, he hurt his quadriceps. The next year, he injured his knee and was out for most of the season.

Thought to be retired, Brett Favre was on the cover of the 2009 edition as a Green Bay Packer. However, he came out of retirement and was traded to the New York Jets. He played poorly and sustained injuries that would ultimately lead him to retire for good.

The Madden NFL 10 game cover featured two players- Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu. Polamalu sprained his MCL in the season opener and injured his posterior cruciate ligament later in the season. Fitzgerald had a great year and had a career-high 13 touchdowns. A rib injury prevented him from playing in the post season and Pro Bowl, though.

Coming off a Super Bowl win, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Breese led his team back to the playoffs despite appearing on Madden NFL 11. However, the Saints lost to the Seattle Seahawks in the first round, allowing the Seahawks to become the first ever team with a losing record to make the playoffs.

Peyton Hillis of the Cleveland Browns was the 2012 cover athlete. Afterwards, he sustained a hamstring injury and ended up missing six games in the season.

Finally, Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson is on the latest edition of the game. He has been battling a knee injury all season and has reportedly missed the last two practices. He has not been able to live up to the expectations of him this season.

RGIII should always lose in the 1st round of Madden voting FOREVER. We, as Redskins fans, need to make sure of that.

We should also hope that Giants, Cowboys, and Eagles fans don't bind together and vote Griffin to win.

Though, if someone was going to break the curse, it would probably be Griffin. The man is a wizard.

The curse is BS. It is mostly just an example of confirmation bias, plus the fact that to be on Madden you need to have an outstanding year and it is rare to have back to back years of perfect health and high production. There is also clearly a lot of bad luck, but not too much to be considered a coincidence. Nevertheless I will not vote for RG3. Better safe that sorry. When he wins just don't freak out over it.
