I think Carter just wanted to go back to the West Coast.  He signed for LAC for that reason.  He's in Vegas now.

Surprising the Chargers let him walk - he caught 46 balls for them as a receiver as well as being the primary punt and kick returner. Its not just Washington who have allowed him to leave via free agency.

I know that we need OT. My draft crush is Brock Bowers. He's that, "generational" TE, the Chase Young of TE's. If Howell is good, imagine Bowers, Terry, and Dotson. We'd be back to Garcon, Reed, and DeSean Jackson, but without the health issues, and with a real ass defense.

The problem is, that if Howell is good, we aren't going to be in a position to grab Bowers. Still, I think my ideal offseason is Bowers, fortify OT in FA if possible, and then fix LB. This is the first time in forever that I think we are actually within striking distance. Bowers, McLaurin and Dotson might be as good as any skill position group in the NFL. We have DL and the secondary locked up. If QB is locked up, it shouldn't be too hard to make the OL at least average and find a competent LB or two.

The Chargers have a pretty full and impressive WR group this year plus drafted a returner in the 4th round

True. But I would take our WR group over the Chargers. Carter would be the 6th receiver/return specialist here.

But he'd be a much better 6th receiver/return specialist than Dax Milne, and he is getting paid basically the same as Milne (slightly higher but not much). It is what it is, that ship has sailed.

On the draft topic - looking at guys who are good punt returners should be on the bingo card of our scouts.

Both teams have highly talented WR groups. Carter is def way better than Milne. I thought punt returner was on the bingo card for 2 years now, it's like the elusive other LB and talented OL :ols:

Bowers is my guy, too.  I posted on this recently.  My only thing is @KDawg keeps making the obvious point on this draft thread that is its easy to lose sight of which can we afford to dream about another spot outside of tackle in this draft?

But yeah LT aside, I'd kill for Bowers.  I watched a lot of Darnell Washington and in that process watched Bowers.  That dude is special.  Better than any TE from this past draft.  And he can do it all IMO -- some hit him on his blocking but IMO he's OK enough as a blocker.

I want Jeremiah Trotter, Jr.

I want Marvin Harrison, Jr.

I want Brock Bowers.

I want Drake Maye (not over Howell, but as a general statement).

And maybe when it's our pick those guys make sense. But going in, as of THIS moment in time, not thinking we will go tackle unless all of our highly graded ones are off the board is almost criminal.

I agree.  It's torture that we boxed ourselves into this but it is what it is.  We can't go round 2 of what we did in 2023 for the O line.

Dream big.  If we have access to a transcendent talent in this upcoming draft, pick him.  Don't force picks at other positions.  We're a good team now, and good teams take the transcendent player that falls to them when it happens.

I don't think this is going to be a great first round crop though.  This could be the year where our best play is to trade out of the first and try and get future picks.

The tackle group looks much better IMO than last years group.  You were super down on the tackles last year.  I’m with you in always taking BPA.  You can never go wrong taking elite talents.  That is why I was such a Bijan fan last draft.  I know he won’t bust

10. Washington Commanders

Sam Howell and company could surprise some folks this year, and when combined with a solid defense, that could make Washington more competitive than consensus expectations. Their biggest need looking ahead to the offseason is at left tackle, and Latham has the size, power and athleticism to be a dominant presence there.

Jayen Wright, nice size, some power, some burst.  Had 6.0 YPC last year. Looks good today.

Feels like Tennessee offensive playmakers needed to be graded a little on the curve because the offense works on hyper speed.  They just set and go in a nano second.  Puts the defense on its heels.

Colorado game was fire. Hunter with just a ridiculous game.

After one half of football, I’m not sure Ohio State is gonna be in the mix this year. McCord seems like an average QB at best to me. Weapons galore but feels a bit like the Clemson fall from the top to me.
