Informed of the decision on Thursday.  Wants to see a knee specialist for an injury that no one knew existed on Friday.

Yes, I can also read. My entire post was addressing exactly that, if you want to respond to what I actually said instead of summarizing news for me.

I think Daniel Jones at his best is a solid passer and an above average runner.  Is he better than Taylor?  Yes.  Is he a really good QB, IMO no.  But will see he has a good coach who has helped him this season reign in his turnover issues.

Oh, I'm totally w/ you that he is a below avg QB. I'm just kinda shocked what they have managed to squeeze outta a dude who was an uncontrollable turnover machine like 2 years ago.

That coaching staff found a way to make him a significant part of that offense that you actually have to account for despite the fact that he is not very good. Just giving them some kudos.

Even though I am not high on Jones.  What they are doing with him is exactly what I'd want next season if they can't find a franchise QB.

Jones won't wow you as a passer but he's at least OK at it.  And using him as a runner has both made their running game better and made Daniel a more effective passer.

As much as I am not high on Jones, if we had him i'd think with this roster they would be more dangerous.  Only reason why I think while we should win this Sunday (we got more talent than the Giants) the Giants have a fighting chance is because IMO Jones is a clear peg better QB than Taylor as a passer -- and a mile better as a runner.

That news was not posted in this thread.  And I did respond to what you actually said.

As for Mariota, who knows whats going on.  But I know he has the reputation of being a likeable guy.  I recall Titan players actively rooting for him posting on twitter during one of his games with the Raiders.  And I recall one Titans player said something more or less about how its tough not to root for Mariota as a dude.

I will never forget that one scout dinged Mariota's draft profile with "I want a charismatic QB, not a Mariota-Bot" only for him to go on and be loved by his teamates.

I think that was one of the wildest draft stances I have seen and is just proof they will find was to dent you.

I would be very interested in getting to the bottom of what is going on in that situation and if it is not as bad as it seems on the surface I'd have to strongly consider taking a flier. Get him in the system early and he can be a part of whatever you do next year.

I think it’s natural for guys without guaranteed money in the bag to have fear of injury somewhere in their head.

But with Heinicke, focusing on being a pocket passer seems like a fools errand.  Short with an inaccurate weak arm, beyond that dudes get injured in the pocket as well.  He has a good slide and doesn’t take on unnecessary hits, it’s a given he should be doing this more.

I said this a month ago, he earns 125k per win.....you bet he is trying not to get injured. We started the Heinicke debate with he is fragile and gets hurt easily. I think he knows that.....and I am surprised he has lasted this long behind this atrocious O line. The sack in OT from Thibodeaux was a big hit and not only did he not get hurt he didn't fumble. Which is still amazing to me.....

don't need to be RG3 to keep them honest.

Oh please.  This is practically on the goal line.  You want to watch a master class in the QB faking out even the cameraman?  Watch Rypien against the Falcons in week 10 in 1991.  Go to the 1:20:22 mark.  (Remove the space.)

If the coaches are planning on handing the reigns over to Howell in 2023 and keeping Heinicke as a back up (who is also a FA at end of season I believe?) Then okay, but if they are flirting with bringing Heinicke back to be the starter while they continue the search for a franchise QB? Nah.

If history is any indicator, I expect another veteran to come in and compete if they don't think Howell is ready. Someone like Teddy Bridgewater, Brissett or maybe Tannehill where they get the same opportunity to win the job and hold it with Howell and TH there in case they don't. Just don't break the bank for them and structure their contract with incentives, maybe even make it so they can be cut after camp if Howell is ready? I say this because Ron seems to like the insurance of having a veteran who's played and understands the nuances of the league while still having some tread on their tires. He whiffed on Fitz and Wentz so we'll see if he goes down the vet road again?

How great would it be if WE don't need to win in week 18 and Howell got to play the entire game against the Cowboys?

It's hard to believe we are now in our third consecutive December and Taylor Heinicke is our QB playing in meaningful football games. That says a LOT about him but also says a LOT about the guys who couldn't hold the job for one reason or another.

Because he is missing a crucial component.........an Offensive Line. Weird how that happens.

The coaching staff is a much bigger problem. Brady can mitigate a mediocre OL and has many times in his career—but only when he’s not constantly being put in  3rd and 8+ situations by poor early down playcalling. The game the other day their average 3rd down was 3rd and 10.5. That’s horrific, and it’s on playcalling not just the OL.

To further enhance my point, here’s a Bucs beat writer who is extremely informed, arguing that the OL doesn’t actually need much work. He’s been posting endlessly about the crimes against humanity that Leftwich and Bowles have been committing all season, though.

Generalizing, but the Bucs seem old, happy, content and well paid.

Leftwich is a terrible OC. He makes Scott Turner look like Sean McVay. And Todd Bowles is a good DC but an awful HC.

Brady is gonna leave that sinking ship this off season. Probably sign with Vegas.

I dunno.  I think he might finally hang it up.  Dude's closer to 60 than 30.

No way. He already walked away from his personal life. GOATs gonna play until the league makes him stop.

He's got a pretty good Oline. Leftwich is a trash coach though. Overall the team isn't the same, but coaching has been the biggest change.
