Bloomberg: How WallStreetBets Pushed GameStop Shares to the Moon

No Excuses

Recommended Posts

This was the present day version of gold fever and an attempt to form a type of common-man union getting busted up by a corrupt big money power playing out in hyperspeed.

I sat this thing out and just watched from the side, pulling for the little retail investor, but too cynical and skeptical to get on board because I'm not a gambler and knew the game would be rigged against them even if I didn't know how.  If you **** with the money of super rich people, they will destroy you and make money off of doing so and they will get away with whatever illegal **** they do in order to destroy you.

But big picture, this event makes me wonder if stronger unions between retail investors in online communities are possible?  Clearly that has game changing ability if they can guarantee stable market access for their members.

Nobody could have seen this crater coming. Nobody, I dare say. 😤

Clearly, everyone knew all of these would crater at some point, as pretty much the entire point - is to make money and to make it you have to sell it.

However, that should have been allowed to happen on it's own in a 'free market'
