Damn. That's a good signing by the Giants.

So far, they've signed Golladay (overpaid) and Jackson is a second tier CB.

They are doing well with only 3.5m cap space, 1 rule for Mara and one for us.

Wasn't it Mara that busted us and the Cowboys for violating the "spirit of the cap"?

Giants making solid moves but at 10M over the cap 🙄- shouldn’t there be some spirit of the cap going on this year given the expectation of the next 2 years

Mara does what he wants, no cap for the Cheats(sorry Giants), we pay the waterboy 1 dollar a year to much and we lose 3 draft picks.

Yes, we lost 36m and the Cowboys got a slap on the wrist, and they told us just a couple of hours before free agency started.

I think the Giants are doing what needs to be done. If they stink this year with Jones after surrounding him in FA with talent and a defense, then they’re going to have an answer at QB. They’re basically leaving him with no excuses.

Exactly. People don't want to hear this but Allen and Payne are very replacebale players. They are both good players, but neither is what I would call a great player. Now, if we had a DT like Quinnen Williams, a player who will most likely be elite at his position, you pay him.

Terry and Chase are the true keepers on the team right now for me. They need to get paid no matter what.

we have five DT on the roster currently.  Three have shown starting quality, one is a damn good backup, one is a former first round pick who has yet to play in this system.  If BPA is a DT do we still select a DT despite the fact in would mean cutting one of these guys?

You have to do a BPA weighted system.  So not just pure BPA, but if a position is absolutely loaded on the roster, then it's weighted less.

The Giants have added some really nice talent. They could win the division. We need to maximize the draft and maybe even do a little more in FA.

How does their cap look next year?

- William Jackson, 3 years 39 million + 1.5 million in possible incentives

- Adoree Jackson, 3 years 39 million + 5.5 million in possible incentives.

That surprises me.  Giants must be thinking Adoree was misused in that Titans defense, and Adoree/his-agent must have been pretty convincing in that argument as well.

Out of the last 32 games he's played in 14 and started 12...foot injury 2019 and knee injury 2020...he weighs 185lbs and has 2 career INT's.

Who fleeced who?

Dave Gettleman is clearly on the Hot Seat in 2021 and he just might F the Giants for the remainder of the 2020s decade.

The cap doesnt matter anymore clearly. Teams are signing people while they are at or over the cap at this point. It is a joke.

They have nothing to fear on the cap.  They laugh at it.  Their cap "spirit" is a benevolent one, much different than the malevolent spirit we have.  All is just peachy in G-land.

Nate Solder apparently took a big pay cut, which freed up some cap for this.  They still need to figure out how to free up more cap to sign rookies though.

Its easy to get around the cap because everyone knows its gonna explode these next few years so all the contracts are being pushed to those years.

Remember though when the Giants signed a bunch of guys back in I believe 2016 to upgrade their D? They did go 11-5 the first year but completely fell apart the year after that. Always be wary of desperate GMs making desperate short term moves to save their jobs.

But they have upgraded their roster. Should be a battle for the NFC East this year.

If Aaron Donald fell to 19 in this draft would you pick him?

A 21-22 year old Aaron Donald on a rookie contract with the knowledge he'll go down as the GOAT DT? Yes of course.

But I'm not sure I'd take him now, as dominant as he is, considering his advanced age(not that he's old or anything)and huge salary #.

These moves limit the depth of their roster.  I wouldn't be surprised to see them play well for one month and poorly the next.  Risky business practice.

People need to learn how the cap works, it makes our fanbase look hysterical and frankly a little ignorant to complain as if the Giants are doing something we couldn’t or breaking the rules in some way, “spirit of the cap” incident from a decade ago or not. They’re restructuring existing contracts and pushing money back into future years, and making the first season of their new signings’ contracts have small cap hits—just like every other team that looked like it may start the offseason tight against the cap. They aren’t circumventing anything, or the spirit of anything. This has nothing to do with us being screwed for not going along with the NFL’s collusion in that uncapped year. Crying about their actions now, which are unrelated and within all rules, just makes us look dumb.
