He's being diplomatic, its going on the RFK site and every knows it now.

Falcons new stadium is about 71k, I really don't something bigger where that is in the city, it's not realistic.  Good choice checking out that one.

Attendance at the SB yesterday was around 62K. Allegiant, not SoFi or Atlanta, should be the model for the new stadium capacity wise.

Squad of us are making the trip to Vegas (staying at the Luxor) in September so I’m looking forward to taking in the Allegiant. Looks quite the stadium and I agree is perhaps the model/template going forward,

In an exclusive interview with WUSA9 Sports Director Chick Hernandez,

I never knew Chick Hernandez went from call-in show on HTS with like Doc Walker or someone, all the way to Sports Director like he is now

We stayed at the Luxor when the Commanders played the Raiders a couple of years ago. You'll have a great time and that stadium is something else.

I liked the look of Allegiant during the Super Bowl. I also love that it's a domed stadium with natural grass. I would love for our new stadium to be like that. Domed with natural grass. The main reason I want a domed stadium is that we can start getting Super Bowls. Even though there was one in NY, I think the NFL is still hesitant to have a Super Bowl in an open-air stadium that is not in a warmer climate. Especially after the Chiefs-Dolphins playoff game. 15 people were hospitalized because of the cold.

Realistic timeline to be in a new place ?

2028-2030.

He needs to have a deal by end of year, with financing decided.  Start having construction next spring.

Also, he’s going to be refurbishing JunkEx this year to improve short term things

Yes, I think our new stadium will 100% be a dome or retractable roof.  The goal of new stadiums is to function as year round entertainment venues.  It doesn't make sense to build an open air stadium that you will only be able to use only 8-10 times a year (almost all of that being NFL games).  DC is a world class city, that should be able to easily compete for major events like Super Bowls, Final Fours, Major Stadium shows and other events throughout the year.  That only happens with a dome/retractable roof stadium.

Yep agreed. But again, absolutely must have metro access.

It really is a shame we couldn't get a new stadium before the World Cup. The fact that the capital of the free world and specifically an area of the country where soccer is very popular won't be hosting matches in the biggest tournament in the world is just tragic. Thanks again Snyder!

It's terrible, and that is 100% Snyder's fault for that happening.  He might not have been the one to build Fed-Ex, but its his fault for not doing the necessary upkeep and maintenance to make sure that it's at least a functioning stadium.  Don't forget, Taylor Swift also skipped DC/Fed-Ex for her recent world tour.  Not only did Snyder piss off and embarrass soccer fans, but he managed to upset the countless number of Swifties living in the DC area that were wanting to go to her show last summer.  My youngest cousin who is a Swifty herself, had to go to Philly to see her concert.  She was upset and pissed off that Swift skipped DC.  Tickets to her show were already expensive, but having to travel to Philly, reserve a hotel and rent a car, made the experience a whole lot more expensive.

Long term that's a good trade off. I'm glad they didn't throw together whatever they could before they left. The team will now have a new stadium created by a competent group of people. Much better than being stuck for years with whatever the previous fools would have come up with.

EXACTLY my thoughts.

The two stadium designs that the Snyder team came up with were beyond laughable.  Just absolutely horrific designs, as was the funky "Jenga" training facility design.  The Harris Group will come up with something truly exciting.  I have no doubt about that.  We dodged a real bullet.

Those designs were so bad I have to believe our previous owner was being punked by the architect.

And in all honesty, even if they had come up with something good, as far fetched an idea as that may be, I'm pretty sure we would have hated it anyway.

Fresh start everywhere!

I am going to be very disappointed if we don’t get this drunken mess, complete with the people repelling down the side of the stadium.

The only thing I  can think of when seeing this drawing is that during the time our previous owner ran the team, fans would rather be outside playing than watching the crap going on inside on game day.

I would love to know how drunk they were to come up with this thing

My favorite is the rappelling fans trying to escape the horrors going on inside the stadium :ols:

and where the **** do we have waters in DC you can surf on or a beach you can throw down a towel and layout?

Well it would be man-made and probably a wave pool… because no drunken moron would come out of the game, fall in, and drown. 0% chance that would happen. Totally safe.

This elementary level photoshop did not get enough ridicule when it came out.

So what are your hopes for a new stadium?

If it’s possible, I want a full entertainment complex around the stadium.  While the stadium is big draw, I want the stadium site to be if used 365 days a year.

The 70,000 seat stadium will have a retractable roof; so it can still use grass but can be closed to be used all the time.

Surrounding the stadium will be a mixed use shopping district with stores and restaurants. You want fans just to not come and go for the game only but spend a little money outside area and not just on game days.

This shopping/dining area would only be possible if the site has room. Don’t know if RFK does or not.

I’d also include a Washington Football Hall of Fame. If possible, a casino.
