NoCalMike
Everything about the investigation is worded so weird. "The clear authority to do so" so does the White House specifically have to say "Yes you can go interview....so and so?" Trump is insisting he has told them they can interview whoever they feel necessary. So someone has to be lying. Don't see why the FBI would have any reason to lie in this situation. The way the FBI is talking, it seems like there has been clear directives *not* to interview them.
Zguy28
Still amazed, maybe not, that I continue to see more than not on my Facebook, people insinuating that the women are tarnishing an honest man's reputation. Insinuations come out by using code words for Dr. Ford like "disturbed" instead of "traumatized". Also the "where is the compassion for a man whose reputation is destroyed?" Sigh...

Burgold
The goal posts have not moved. The goal line has always been... is Kavanaugh the right person and the best person to fill the SCOTUS vacancy. The answer is no. He fails on: Temperament Honesty/Perjury Alleged Sexual Abuse Extreme Partisan Expressed desire for revenge on his enemies Any one of these should be disqualifying.

I'm more cynical than you. You have more faith in the government than me. I'll admit this "stay" to investigate surprised me, but I think even that is a show and dance. I think in any other administration Kavanaugh's nomination is pulled or he is allowed to withdraw. Too much smoke, too many red flags, too many very real problems. The fact that he's still there hanging around is a symptom of how broken we are.

A- Trump likes a fight B- Trump is guilty of far worse sexual abuses C- Trump has no shame or sense of decency D- McConnell has no shame or sense of decency E- The GOP is so intimidated and beholden to their far right groups that they are afraid to cross them at anything F- Trump is terrified of Mueller and Kavanaugh and Trump thinks that Kavanaugh is his "Get OUT of Jail Free" card. NoCalMike
So the lack of this being a real investigation could turn out to be less to do with the FBI only having a week and more the parameters set by the White House. They have stopped even giving straight answers about whether or not they are stifling behind the scenes. It's clear they just set this up so that little to nothing new can be discovered. Bravo Trump, never change.

Putting a strict time limit on it and setting a narrow scope on what you can and can't do is what you'd expect to find on a trial porn membership, not an FBI investigation. I mean, you start an investigation into a sexual assault allegation, and don't even bother to interview the accuser or the accused? This is just a farcical aside so that the Republicans in congress can say "See! We are open and thorough, and let a full investigation take place!", meanwhile they'll still ram through the confirmation of a dude who, at a minimum, is an abject partisan who doesn't have the judicial temperament to be on the highest court in the country, and at worst was a drunken frat boy in his youth that sexually assaulted women. Pretty sad times.
