Miami Herald: I’m done trying to understand Trump supporters. Why don’t they try to understand me?

The fact that his support is still this strong is sad and sickening:

Trump’s Popularity Declines Among GOP Voters After Brutal Week for the Country

A week that brought the final straw in President Donald Trump’s crusade against President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory and acts of insurrection on Capitol Hill by his supporters is ending with political pain for the outgoing president: A weakened standing with his loyal Republican base.

According to Morning Consult Political Intelligence daily tracking conducted Tuesday before the melee at the Capitol and again in the aftermath on Thursday, Trump’s approval rating fell 6 percentage points among Republican voters, to 78 percent, while the share who disapproved of his job performance rose 7 points, to 21 percent.

Wondering how y’all feel about the Hienicke stuff the morning after now that his Twitter has been exposed.

Im stuck between not wanting to care cause nothing he said was that explosive. And not wanting to excuse it cause pretending this **** doesn’t lead to and eventual end is how we got to the capital being overrun.

Recall decades ago, seeing one scene (I only watched one scene) from some show HBO did, about a semi-pro football team.

Two players.  (An OR and a WR?) are sitting in a bar, griping about the team's kicker.

He's not even American.  Some soccer player from some country nobody ever heard of in Europe.

Doesn't even speak English.  Only English he knows is "Kick ball, collect check."

And football is an American game.  And the players should be Americans, for crying out loud.  And why do us good American players, on an American football team, in America, have to put up with some guy who isn't even American on their team?

And OJ Simpson (who plays the coach) steps up, puts one hand on each player's shoulder, leans in between them, and says "Last year he was 4 out of 5 from outside the 50."

The two players look at OJ.  they look at their drinks.  They look off camera (I assume at the kicker).  They hold up their drinks similar to a hug or a toast.

"Buddy!"

This Pro-Trump YouTube Network Sprang Up Just After He Lost

A network of YouTube channels connected to the pro-Trump media outlet Epoch Times launched after Election Day as part of a disinformation campaign to keep President Donald Trump in office. Only one of the channels discloses its ties to the newspaper, which traffics in conspiracy theories and has become one of the president’s staunchest media allies.

Hours after a mob of Trump supporters violently occupied the Capitol Wednesday, the host of one channel, Eye Opener With Michael Lewis, went live on YouTube to lie about the coup attempt, election fraud, and antifa.

“There is mounting evidence to show that an old Communist tactic was used here,” said Lewis, dressed in a matching bow tie and suspenders. “These people instigated the crowd and stirred up the people into a fervor ... It looks to be antifa from early reports."

None of this is true. But it is standard fare for Lewis's channel. Since its creation on Nov. 10, 2020, it’s been a clearinghouse for election disinformation propagated by Trump, his attorneys, and conspiracy theorists. It’s working: Eye Opener gained more than 200,000 subscribers and more than 11.6 million views on Youtube in less than two months.

American Airlines pilot threatens to dump Trump supporters in Kansas if they don't 'behave'

A pilot on an American Airlines flight from Washington, DC, to Phoenix, threatened to divert the plane and strand unruly Trump fans in Kansas.

The flight was on Friday, two days after a mob of Trump supporters broke into the US Capitol, which derailed Congress's session and led to five deaths. From the beginning of the flight, Videos show people chanting "USA" and "fight for Trump."

Trump supporter Mindy Robinson, who posted one video, described the plane as "full of patriots." One of the videos shows several passengers wearing what appear to be red Trump hats.

The flight appears to have been AA 1242 from Reagan National Airport to Phoenix Sky Harbor, the only direct American service between the two cities that day.

A later video recorded the message from the pilot:He said: "This is the way it's gonna be… it's a four and a half hour flight to Phoenix. We'll put this plane down in the middle of Kansas and dump people off - I don't care. We will do that if that's what it takes, so behave, please."

I was thinking if you're going to do that, threaten to divert to Oklahoma City.  There's a prison at the airport.

Leavenworth is in Kansas tho. So not too bad a place to set down. 🙂

Kansas went from being a home to abolitionists to being one to Confederates. Not a really big punishment for the Trumpers .😣

I mostly just liked the trivia that there's actually a federal prison, built on the grounds of the OKC airport.

Only prison in the world with a jetway.

It's run by the US Marshals, as a hub for prisoner transfers.  Got built while I was living there.  Took a tour.

More Kirk Twitter fun:

Charlie Kirk deletes tweet saying he sent ‘80+ buses full of patriots’ to D.C.

Charlie Kirk, the founder of the conservative student group Turning Point USA (TPUSA), deleted a tweet in which he claimed to be sending more than 80 buses filled with President Donald Trump’s supporters to Washington, D.C.

The deleted tweet, uncovered by the Daily Dot on Saturday, was posted just two days before Trump supporters stormed the Capitol in an attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

"The historic event will likely be one of the largest and most consequential in American history," Kirk wrote. "The team at @TrumpStudents & Turning Point Action are honored to help make this happen, sending 80+ buses full of patriots to DC to fight for this president."

This kind of thing used to be funny. Turns out there are enough gullible morons in this country to actually make this garbage dangerous as a movement and that’s decidedly not funny.

I saw this guys name as a presenter for a January 5 rally.  Anyone who was at the 5 and 6 January rallies should be asked to answer why they were there.  Not all of them stormed the Capitol, but it feels like they weren't there for Jesus.  Why were rallies for "Save America" scheduled the same week?
