Willing to bet they are getting written questions just to have something on record. And that they have the answers to the questions they are asking OR you can't answer them honestly without setting yourself up. None of this stops them from having an in person interview at some point. But they probably feel like, given current events, it's best to get something on record while they still can.
skinsmarydu
That's how it was described last night, "at least he had a chance to be honest " (lol).

Sacks 'n' Stuff
Trump’s team of legal masterminds has had months to carefully craft the wording of these written answers to avoid confessing to any crimes as well as the patented perjury trap. Here’s an example. Q. No collusion? A. Uh. Hmm, well, uh (this is actually in the written response)... It wouldn't be inaccurate to assume that I couldn't exactly not say that this statement is or isn't almost partially incorrect. I'm possibly more or less not definitely rejecting the idea that in no way with any amount of uncertainty do or do not know if any collusion took place. Mueller never stood a chance. Bang
Given Trump's history and the history of his lawyers, worrying whether or not they will outsmart Mueller seems pretty silly. ~Bang 1

techboy
I just heard Flake on CSPAN. It was a pretty good speech, and if he follows through on his threat, it actually has some teeth. The bill would die in the House, though, one would imagine.
