What, The Force Awakens wasn't original enough for you? I liked the Force Awakens. I forgive the lack of originality because of what he was trying to do resurrecting the franchise. It was still enjoyable to me. But I just dont wanna see him resort to that again. So I disagree, I dont think it was a horrible choice. lol It was a good one, IMO. I'm with you on this. Abrams is a hack that relies on camera tricks and relentless loose threads ("mystery boxes") to keep viewers. If Abrams writes nothing and Rian Johnson is still writing the core treatment for IX as originally planned, then I can tolerate bringing him back.

I've always hoped for a Neill Blomkamp flick, have it centered around HK-47 or IG-88. Hell, have both! Just bad-a$$ robot bounty hunters terrorizing the hyperlanes.
DM72
Mark Hamill: "Watch Monday Night Football on October 9 for no reason in particular." As everyone remember, the final trailer for The Force Awakens premiered at halftime of MNF.
DM72
The runtime of "The Last Jedi" is reportedly 150 minutes long which makes it the longest Star Wars yet.
DM72
Rumor is that Star Wars: The Last Jedi presale tix will go on sale next Monday after the trailer airs on MNF. If I remember correctly, they did the same thing for TFA and presale tix actually went on sale before the trailer.

Means they have plenty of story to tell and didn't want to sacrifice it by over-editing for the sake of brevity. That or Peter Jackson snuck onto the set and filmed a 15 scene 40 minute ending.

Warhead36
2.5 hours is excessive IMO.
DM72
If it's good, how is 2.5 hours excessive?
Momma There Goes That Man
2.5 is about the average length for all great dramas. Not saying it will be great but you need time to properly setup and follow thru on the story to make a quality movie, especially one that is epic in scale Edited October 5, 2017 by Momma There Goes That Man
shakinaiken
Part of the appeal of these movies is their relative brevity- they never feel bloated. But as others have said, if its good, I don't care how long it is. I have a lot of faith in Rian Johnson.

“Misdirection”
I can never get this right. So if the movies release date is Friday December 15th, does that mean there will be midnight showings on the 14th? When is the earliest possible time to see it? Showings usually start at 7:00 pm December 14. That still goes towards the Fri-Sun opening weekend.

Rule of thumb, release dates given for movies are always the Friday date.
