skins island connection
When: Sunday Oct. 11th 1:00 p.m. Where: Georgia Dome Yes, it is a day early, but I'm in a good mood dammit ! Sunday, the Redskins take a trip south to the Georgia Dome to take on a very good Atlanta Falcons team. The Falcons are 4-0, and playing good sound football at every level. Matt Ryan once again has his team scoring points, and seem to have started to actually play defense too. A rookie RB is turning heads and Julio Jones and Roddy white are a handful for any team. The plot thickens. Do these names sound familiar? Terry Robiskie, WR coach Kyle Shanahan, OC Leonard Hankerson, WR Raheem Morris, asst. DC Bobby Turner, RB coach I could go on more but I think you get the point; we're basically playing the Redskins, or what the Redskins SHOULD be. The Redskins come off an impressive come-from-behind win against the Eagles, in a game where it was a tale of 2 halves. In the first half the Redskins stifled and frustrated the Eagles and took a 13-0 lead, only to give it up going in the 4th 20-16, then the unthinkable happened; Kirk Cousins played tall and led the Redskins downfield and threw the game winning TD to Garcon with 30 seconds left, sending FedEx Field into an eruption of cheers. But this game is different, in many ways. Gotta give credit where credit is due, the Falcons are playing good sound football right now and it will be a monumental task to pull off the upset. It doesn't mean they cannot be beaten, because they certainly can be beaten, but it will take solid, smart, and gut-checking performances across the board by the Redskins, offensively, defensively, and especially on special teams, who seem to show up only to get a check. Kyle & co. will want this win badly, but this could very well be a double-edged sword in ways. Hankerson is playing decently but is nothing close to Jones and White, and he will also want a win badly, so the psychological battle has already begun in his head. If the past is any indication, decent coverage will prevent him from catching anything, but the distraction is there. It will be a big test for the secondary, and if Gruden is smart he will address the entire team on the emotional aspect of this game, knowing hot heads and tempers will be flaring early and often; if the Redskins can keep from getting into extra curricular activities, i.e. personal fouls, then the chance is there. Look for both defenses to be a little off, not sure who will be off more, but discipline is an absolute must in this game. Ryan will get some big plays, but if the Redskins secondary can slow down their offense they will have a chance. Cousins will have to play an almost mistake-free game, and it would be a huge boost to get DeSean Jackson back, only time will tell. In the end, as much as I hate to type this, I think the Redskins come up a little short, but end up playing and giving the Falcons more than they bargained for. After the artificial turf cools down and MORE feathers fly, Redskins 27 Falcons 37 I hope its the other way around. *Congrats to Warhead36 on nailing the prediction thread score last week! Duckus
Road game against a 12+ win team. While I think ATL is a soft 4-0, they are clearly a very good team. Honestly, this is one of those games where I just want us to look competitive. Not too worried about the result. 24 - 20 Falcons. I'm assume the line is going to be at least -7 and we squeak out a late cover.
hail2skins
Redskins will play well but won't have enough to stop a (to date) high flying Atlanta team. I'm thinking the Falcons win this one late, 31-27.
skinsfan1523
We're a ball control offense and the Falcons can be run on. Maybe we can keep the ball out of Ryans hands, and that explosive offense. The Falcons won't go undefeated, so maybe we can pull one off here. I'll Skins-24 Birds-21.
Momma There Goes That Man
Atlanta could easily start 9-0. Their schduele is cake, us included. They have 2 games I think are tossups for them, the 2 Panthers games and the Colts. They are staring at 13-3. This will be an easy victory for them. illone
I love what the Skins did today coming from behind to get the big win, but this Falcons team is not some bumbling mess like the Eagles are. They should dominate the Redskins on both sides of the ball. I'm thinking 38-21. Skins will win the following week vs the Jets, though, and get back to .500 again. DCtoSC_SKINS_LIFER
I'll be at the game so I'll predict what I want to see, rather than what I think I'll see: Redskins - 26 Falcons -
Riggo-toni
Just moved to GA. Davonta Freeman and Julio Jones are playing lights out, and Quinn has got the team finally playing solid defense. This is likely to be a demoralizing blowout. 38-13 Falcons.
TheGreatBuzz
I never bet against us. Atlanta offense is going to have a field day but every ball bounces in our favor. 38-35 RedskiNS

HTTRDynasty
Our run defense is top 3 in the league. I don't fear Freeman. Julio, on the other hand... 35 Falcons 27 Skins
hail2skins
You maybe right, but please explain what makes the Colts game tough. The fact that they've been 11-5 the past three seasons and, despite their slow start, are projected to still be decent.
skins island connection
I wonder how well their DBs can hold up. Wondering if rotating a WR constantly running straight downfield every play to tire out the secondary. If anything it may push the safety back and give us more room underneath. DM72
The fact that they've been 11-5 the past three seasons and, despite their slow start, are projected to still be decent. They have looked like hot garbage so far THIS year.
Mooka
In Atlanta... Man. Falcons in their dome. Gotta say, with all honestly. Atlanta: 30+ Redskins: N/A. Meaning our points won't even matter because they'll all come in garbage time. I don't think we match up well at all against Atlanta atm. Their offense is primed to pick our secondary apart and they have a big home-field advantage. But predicting the Falcons is so hard. Mainly because anything can happen with that team. Julio Jones could get injured at any moment and completely change the game. Matty Ice turns to straight frosting under pressure. Sometimes they look like the greatest show on turf back there, but pressure Ryan and all of a sudden the Falcons turn into the softest team you've even seen. NIKKI8
I am very concerned that all of the ex Redskins with Atlanta, especially their offensive coordinator, will take things up a notch and try to not only win but embarrass their former team next Sunday. I hope I'm wrong and it backfires on them though.
elkabong82
We get a big test for the defense. I agree with others in here that ATL is a soft 4-0. Good team, not great. I think for most teams we play this season, how we do will depend on which Redskins team shows up and whether or not we hurt our selves too badly in 3rd quarter that we can't come back from it. Competitive but inconsistent, high penalties, tough adjustments is the mark of a progressing, young team. We have something we can keep building on regardless of the outcome in ATL. It's a game we can win, but even the eternal optimist in me thinks we won't win tis one, though we'll keep it interesting. If Desean plays I like our odds more. If our run game goes nuts and we don't turn it over and defense shows well, we win.
Momma There Goes That Man
You maybe right, but please explain what makes the Colts game tough. I mean I just don't expect the Colts to play this poorly all season I guess. Going by right now, yeah the Colts game should get them to 10-
RedskinsFanInSanAntonio
I'll be at the game also, so we better win . I have lost the last two games I've been at (@Texans last year, and @Cowboys 2013). Need to break the streak! Redskins-24 Falcons-21 Game winning field goal! Injuries on defense vs a beast mode WR in Julio Jones isn't a good matchup to me. Right now, I'd say it's loss. Hope I'm wrong though.
RedskinsFanInSanAntonio
Hopefully this is one of the statement wins like how the Cowboys won in Seattle last year when no one thought they could.
