Llevron
Greetings Folks, I don't want to write too much about this as I would like to see/ hear your opinions on the matter before I get too deep into my own. However, I don't think this is the way you coach a team or lead people. It seems to me that communication was a serious serious issue with Mike Shanahan. “I tried to have many conversations with Coach Shanahan,” Morgan said. “It got to the point where he knew I was gonna come talk to him, so I guess he started locking his door." Take a read. More at the link ---> http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/dc-sports-bog/wp/2014/01/15/redskins-joshua-morgan-says-mike-shanahan-wouldnt-meet-with-him/ I think this lack of communication and leadership was a big part of the problem here in DC this season. I find it hard to believe other head coaches act in this manner. What do you guys think?
HTTRDynasty
Very unprofessional and arrogant. Not surprised by this at all.
dc1
Far to many stick their fingers in their ears before believing that Mike Shannhan was the issue. Control, manipulation and confrontation avoidance. He has the nickname for a reason and it was his before he got here. Good luck to Gruden and godspeed and self reflection to Shanny. RED06
It was because of Josh Morgans cardiovascular issues

NoCalMike
People can say what they want about Morgan, and while I would tend to agree his tenure in DC so far has left a lot to be desired, if you go watch his play on the 49ers before his injury, he was a solid WR. 49ers fans were sad to see him go and felt the team didn't do enough to try and retain him. I am not sure if his foot injury permanently changed his capability, but I have a feeling if he is gone we will see him emerge back to where he was before. RichmondRedskin88
Should have thrown a ball at Shanny's door to annoy him. Morgan has experience in that department
Mr. Sinister
Can't say I care too much at this point, since one is already gone, and the other most likely will be at some point.

TheGreatBuzz
Whatever you think about either of these two people, I think this is lacking a lot of detail needed to form a real opinion. It could be that MS was just an ass or it could be that JM had already had his question answered and was just pestering. Or it could have been set up in a military style chain of command and he was supposed to talk to his position coach and OC before going to MS. Who really knows? This is just another article used to sell papers.
ANONYMOUS SOURCE.
Backs up what Cooley mentioned about Robert feeling that Shanny didn't like him and he wouldn't tell him why or what the issue was. Sounds like Shanny was a bit of a Coward which is strange considering his profession is/was a leader of men.
TK
The thing is, the film supports why he lost playing time. On the flipside, Shanny had also turned into the "kiss my rings, I know everything" type of guy.
Masked Marauder
Hopefully the new coach will bring in some people that don't get there wittle feelwings hurt so easily. And tell the guys that are still around to hike their skirts up and not get their feelings hurt so easily. I find it very hard to believe that Shanahan locked his door to avoid talking to Morgan. I would find it much easier to believe if Morgan said Shanahan told him to get out and stay out of his office

Skinsinparadise
Morgan played poorly so I don't have much sympathy for him. But it plays into what Cooley said about shanny and that is he was really a big time passive aggressive dude -- he was either chicken or felt too uncomfortable to have one on one talks with players so he didn't do them -- and if Shanny had issues with you, you wouldn't hear about it from him but via other sources and in some cases the media. I find it very hard to believe that Shanahan locked his door to avoid talking to Morgan. I would find it much easier to believe if Morgan said Shanahan told him to get out and stay out of his office According to Cooley, Shanny HATED one on one talks with players and just wouldn't do them, he didn't like confrontation so he'd do his dirty work behind the players back usually. Ghost of
Who really knows? This is just another article used to sell papers. This is incorrect. It confirms what Chris Cooley has said about Shanahan and what Griffin relayed to Cooley over this past year. It seems to be also the case with other former players who do not like Shanahan or have some negative feelings towards him. The man is not a leader and doesn't treat people right and has issues, in spite of his often petty nature, with confronting a problem. This comes out in how he trashed the entire team in leaks rather than come across as the bad guy. Hopefully the new coach will bring in some people that don't get there wittle feelwings hurt so easily. And tell the guys that are still around to hike their skirts up and not get their feelings hurt so easily. Or maybe the coach is an asshole and men want to be treated like men? Also see TK's post above. No one is disputing the legitimate on-field probs Morgan had this year (I actually think he was pretty good at times last year, considering the injury) but at some point if everyone who comes into contact with Shanahan says he's a passive-aggressive and petty jerk, maybe he is. It doesn't mean he's Hitler, just that maybe he's no longer able to lead and manage people. One would think the "watching tape of defensive meetings" and angering assistants via micromanaging (a guy who is an offensive specialist at that) might be a clue as to his character or style. Smooters
The problem with everything you just wrote, is that you have already formed an opinion and picked your side. So everyone is going to be wrong in your eyes either way you look at it. No matter how much you actually think you know.

So everyone is going to be wrong in your eyes either way you look at it. No matter how much you actually think you know. I formed an opinion based on available evidence. Quite literally that's the only option available to us as human beings. Can I run an experiment with a control group or video record Shanahan as coach of the Skins? No? OK. Rational evaluation of available evidence, as well as intuitions tell me I'm right. That or we can just assume Cooley, Morgan and others are all liars. Or we can just assume all players are all bums who lie about their coaches, repeat the same general story when discussing one particular coach and make excuses for their play. Your post perfectly embodies the intransigent internet commenter who lobs the accusation of impartiality and irrationality at their fellows while being egregiously guilty of both themselves. This evinces a distinct lack of the reflective character or analytical chops necessary to be an authority on others' posting styles.

If it were up to some he'd still be the coach. This report doesn't surprise me at all. Shanny quit on the team way back in 2012, and he straight up just didn't want to talk with Josh, plain and simple.
NoCalMike
Lets leave Robert out of the equation at the moment. We have two players, in Davis & Morgan who could clearly play ball prior to 2013. Reports of them being in Shanny's doghouse take place, and then suddenly neither is heard from much the rest of the season. Now, do you think two players who were on the field and producing in 2012 suddenly couldn't play anymore. Keep in mind also, Morgan was producing in 2012 with pins in his foot as a holdover from the injury in 2011, and reports during training camp were saying he was showing a return of the burst after the catch that he lost in 2012 due to the injury. There were no signs or indications that Morgan & Davis magically became mediocre players over the offseason, but there is mounting evidence of Shanny's doughouse becoming a no man's land and very hard to get out of. LoudMouth12thMan
Now all the players are blaming the coach and not themselves. lol Welcome to the Washington Redskins! So the coach isn't culpable for the failures of this franchise from 2010 to present? Year one I'll give him a pass b/c of what he inherited. Years two and four were deplorable and he's ultimately at fault. Hypothetical: If your boss doesn't lead you and his/her boss doesn't lead him/her, is it mostly your fault for consistently poor performance by you? I'd argue that's it's their fault first for hiring you and/or, at the minimum, their fault for not getting the best out of you. In Washington, Shanahan performed poorly as a coach irrespective of wins and losses. I mean to say that his game management, people, coaching, and schematic skills were nothing short of sub-par compared to even the most average of coaches in the NFL.
