The old guy with a big beard on that A&E show about a bunch of guys who make duck calls got fired (surprise! un-fired!)

Agree, the A&E decision maker in this particular incident basically cut his own throat, he is the one least likely to survive this.  Reminds me a bit of the NPR firing of that commentator couple of years back because he appeared on Fox. The person behind that move lost their job although that was more to do with appearance of partisanship than lost money.

Juan Williams, I think? He's on FNS, usually weekly...as long as the topic at hand doesn't upset George Will, that is.

I'm not getting into the topic itself. But I will say this. The folks who think A&E are going to take some long term hit and need any show regardless of what their sponsors want are insane. This isn't a stand alone network. They're on the TVs of something like 80%+ homes in the United States, and they're part of a family of stations like Lifetime and History Channel which I think is half owned by Disney.

So.....no cable provider is going to drop them because they don't want to risk losing those other stations.....or in an expanded view...ESPN and the other Disney owned properties. Comcast or whoever isn't going to demand A&E unsuspend anybody. And however many folks who drop comcast for fios or dish are going to have the same issues on that end where A&E will be there because those providers want to offer the other stations. They are stuck.

PARAGOULD, AR (KAIT) - The "Duck Dynasty" backlash has hit Paragould Light Water and Cable.

"We've had a few of our subscribers that have called and referenced that they would like to see us pull it. We've had a couple of emails that were sent in," said Farron Toler with PLWC.

The company posted a response to the calls and emails on its Facebook page, saying in part, "... due to contract obligations with networks like A&E, we cannot simply stop showing their programming."

Toler says earlier in 2013 PLWC renegotiated with A&E and its affiliate networks.

"A&E is a network that owns several other networks. They own the Biography Channel, History channel, (Crime & Investigation), some other channels and as a group we have contracts with those through 2016."

Toler says PLWC has no intention of breaching the contract, but the company does value customer input, with the Facebook post also saying, "Customer requests will be passed on to the Cable Selection Committee... a varied group of individuals from the community that work with PLWC to determine programming."

"In 2016 if there is some conflict with A&E then we could make a decision of whether or not we wanted to continue airing A&E at that time, but from now until 2016 when those contracts expires we're pretty much locked in."

I love how a thread about why someone on tv should be tolerant of others includes people using the disparaging term "teabagger".

Why would anyone consider that term "disparaging"? There are people who will identify themselves as members of that party/movement. I know a few...they wear it with pride.

You just had to remind me that George Will moved to Fox. Didn't like that move at all (understand it was due to location move of This Week to NYC). Too many conservative commentators are pushed to FOX when they are needed on the main broadcasters. Lessons the political diversity of the various broadcast and cable news networks.

/Sowwy. When I lived in Savannah, all shows were shown at the same time, I swear, so we had to pick one.

I hate that we had to move back to ATL, but at least I can see everything here.

Because its referring to someone as a sexual act. I'm sure you'd be offended if someone called you a (blank)licker.

It's offensive.

TEA Party members called themselves "tea baggers" first, the left then latched on to it.

Personally I think a person diminishes the validity of their argument when they resort to slurs.

I just read this on twitter and thought it ironic.

@drantbradley: #PopeFrancis & #PhilRobertson believe the exact same thing abt homosexuality but Pope is Time's man of the year? http://t.co/SPu78KJzLM

Yeah, cause if you read it on Twitter, it must be accurate lol.

And its completely incorrect.  Here is a link to an article from Rappler.com website.

I'm sure some do. It doesn't make it any less offensive.

See "n-word" for context.

I get the connection you're making here, I really do, but that's a bit of a stretch.

Tea Party people choose to be crazy nutball racist lunatics. They aren't born that way. Therefore if I want to make fun of them I feel that it's not out of line to call them Teabaggers, or a host of other words that are far more offensive than that.

Calling them teabaggers is offensive and intolerant. The exact reason people are up in arms about the duck dude in the first place.

I think liberals choose that direction as well, but I don't think I should call them names to demean them.

Yes. I am intolerant of people who choose to have a certain set of beliefs. Teabaggers are intolerant of people that are born a certain way. That is in no way, shape, or form the same thing.

maybe you don't read what you post? Or what I posted? There us a link to the catholic catechism in my post. Are you saying that pope Francis doesn't agree with it? I think he does.

You see, while they believe the same thing regarding homosexual behavior, they just don't speak about it the same way. But they do both believe it is a sin and that sin is evil.
