Donnie Nelson was the first guy to really understand how to scout and value foreign players for NBA skills.   It's not just Dirk.   He is the one who figured out why Sarunas Marciulionis had a game that could transfer to the NBA, while Oscar Schmidt probably didn't.   (Sarunas was a freaking beast, by the way.)

Mark Cuban is a brass balled, forward thinking self made billionaire genius, that youd want to chill and grab a beer with.

Dan Snyder is an insecure, reactionary, socially awkward little man who has no clue how build anything from the ground up, but instead run it into the ground

I understand where you're coming from, but Cuban was a joke at times. He has made a fool.of himself on numerous occasions getting into with refs as if he was a fan.

I actually like his man of the people behavior.  There is something great about an owner that shows up at a game in a tshirt and sits in the stands with fans.  He lives and dies with what is going on on the court just like any fan and he's not afraid to show it.  He's not acting like he's nobility walking amongst the muddy peasants.

Toronto can't beat Chicago. Chicago can't beat Washington. Washington can't beat Toronto.

The EC playoffs are going to come down to match ups. Chicago can win the conference if Washington plays Toronto in the semis. Toronto probably wins if Washington and Chicago play in the semis.

Seeding is going to end up being really important.

So basically the Pistons have decided to join the Sixers in the tank sweepstakes?

They are stuck in cap hell for two seasons after this one.  They probably should focus on developing their players at this point because that JSmoov mistake is a big one.  They need to figure out if Monroe and Drummond can coexist too.  If they can't, trade one.

San Antonio has had a brutal schedule so far, but 4-6 in their last ten ain't good. Feels like the West caught up to them. This could be how the era finally ends. Kind of a whimper. Going from annually dominant to merely good, while younger, more talented, hungrier teams like Golden State and Portland pass them by.

Losing Parker and Leonard will do that to ya.

No they're injured.  When 100% healthy they rule the West.  They took Memphis 3 OTs and handed them the win with no Parker or Leonard.  Also no Patty Mills.  They will be fine.

They've had significant injuries in the past, including injuries to Parker, and those didn't slow them down. Now they're playing sub .500 ball in their last ten games? When is the last time that happened?

They aren't as good as they were last year, and the top end of the West is better. SA isn't the favorite any more.

Life is nothing but a bitter pill.

do you include that postscript in your kids' birthday cards?   :)

Cuban is a burning paper bag filled with turds.

when was the last time this happened with the spurs?

how about every single year.

Pops is one of the few coaches that has the security and wherewithal to not care about regular season games... and to actually play that way.   The Spurs ALWAYS have regular season stretches where they are tinkering with line-ups/resting players/trying new schemes/whatever .... where they lose and are written off... and then some how <surprisingly and miraculously> they find cohesion and momentum at the end of the regular season and enter teh playoffs in playoff form.

that said... they ALSO never ever win back to backs :)      (and duncan ginolbi are as old as I am ....right?)

Both are self made men and big sports fans. Snyder started his business working out of his parents home.

He did not become a check signer for NFL players from pure luck.
