It intertwines with various eras, people, and emotions. A man (Sam Jackson) and several others, take a keen interest in it, trying to outsmart and outbid each other, while the true nature of its origin and purpose is told. I loved it. Saw it awhile ago, but thought I'd mention it here. Perfect blend of mystery, drama, and passion For the longest time, I was convinced that Sam Jackson had that exact character for a couple of different films. When he dies, I think they're going to finally reveal that he is actually apart of a group of triplets.

I always thought they were quintuplets : "Spooky" Sam "Fire and brimstone" Sam "Keeping it real" Sam "A ****ing shark ate me" Sam I know people sort of look at him as sort of through the Tarantino lense these days (rightfully so, but he's more than that, always has been), but the man is a gifted actor, with a slew of films to back that up. Spooky Sam (Sphere, 1408, Caveman's Valentine, Eves Bayou, Lakeview Terrace, Unbreakable, etc) just might be my favorite. Totally creeps you out. 1

His range is pretty remarkable I recently watched the HBO Move of The Sunset Limited with him and Tommy Lee Jones. The entire movie is just those two in Sam's apartment having conversation about life and death. I've always liked movies with a minimal amount of cast or set pieces, when the acting is right, it is brilliant 2

It's exactly the same atmosphere as Sunset Limited, it's more like a play than a movie. The entire film takes place in one room (well about 95% of it). A bunch of college professors, mostly scientists, sit around in the den of a cabin. Randomly, someone mentions how a coworker hasn't aged a day in their 10 years working together....and then, that coworker claims to be over 14,000 years old. When his colleagues (paleontologists, theologians, anthropologists, historians, etc) realize he's not joking, they begin to pick his brain and ask him questions about his life and what he's been through. I discovered this joint by googling "the best movies you've never heard of" like 10 years ago. This is one of my favorite movies of all-time. Fascinating stuff. Quite a few recognizable B-list actors, too. Edited December 4, 2017 by Chew

I didn't even think he wrote about being strong. I thought he was a weak (dumb) ass even in his "story"? lol

Now that I see it, by not showing up at the end, it was a big FU. So he basically grew a pair.

Momma There Goes That Man
That’s correct. She had called him weak multiple times and her mother as well and often criticized his writing style as not being engaging or effective because he wrote about himself. So so when she came crawling back he wrote a haunting and eerily appropriate story about a weak but good man with a similar wife to her that ultimately loses everything thru his weakness. She is hooked and falling for his talent and romanticism again as she did many years ago and also as an opportunity to escape her loveless marriage. But he has made peace with her leaving him earlier and stands up her so that she knows the feeling of being worthless and alone Edited December 4, 2017 by Momma There Goes That Man 1

Destino
Mayhem. Samara Weaving must never stop making kind of funny horror movies. She's great. Good to see Steven Yeun from Walking Dead again as well. Rage virus infects an office building and the government won't let anyone leave. Entertaining violence ensues. This isn't a good movie, it's really not, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it at all. Who doesn't want to see an employee literally fight the accounting department? Good times.
drowland
I checked out the Disaster Artist today. If you're a fan of The Room you'll enjoy it. Has a lot of good laughs and has some heart. It really is an underdog story. Franco did a good job becoming Tommy Wiseau and as the movie went on you believe he really is Wiseau. He goes between creepy weirdo, to being a straight asshole to just being a lovable loser.
88Comrade2000
Saw Jumanji today. I don't remember the original, but it was pretty good. They said there was a nice touching moment to honor Robin Williams but I don't know what it was. May need to watch the original. The movie was pretty funny and Karen Gillian of Doctor Who fan, was nice eye candy. I'll give the movie an A.
88Comrade2000
Saw Downsizing today. Another "A" for me. The previews left you expecting one type of movie but you get a different type of movie.

I was completely drunk so maybe that had something to do with it, but I laughed the whole time. The only thing I think that could have been a tribute to Robin Williams character was the hut area that the pilot lived in I think is where Robin williams character, Alan Parish lived when he was trapped in the game for 20 years too. Also, the original is a classic for me. It wasn’t funny but it was just a grand childhood adventure. You should check it out. The cgi is awful now but otherwise, it holds up. The elephant figure they find is one of the game pieces from the original. Also, it picks up right where the original ends with the game covered in sand on the beach Edited January 1, 2018 by Momma There Goes That Man
justice98
Blade Runner 2049 First let me preface this by saying I liked the first one, didnt love it. That's basically how I feel about this one. - It's visually stunning and well directed. Denis Villenueve is my favorite director going right now. - All the performances were excellent. I'm not a huge Gosling person, but he did fine. I dont see how Harrison Ford can even think of another Indiana Jones the way he moves around now though. - It built on the mythology quite well and doesnt feel disconnected from the original, which was a risk given the new director and long time between movies. - It didnt need to be 2 hours and 45 minutes. It's too methodical for that kind of run time. Kinda glad I watched it at home and not in the theater from that standpoint. It's certainly a well crafted piece of filmmaking, but I still only liked it, didnt quite love it. I think the Blade Runner saga overall just doesnt grab me for whatever reason. 88Comrade2000
Saw Ferdinand yesterday. Another ethnic culture cartoon, this one was about a bull in Spain. I liked it, not as great as Coco but still good. It gets a solid B.
FrFan
I really enjoyed Seven Sisters, a sci-fi movie featuring Noomi Rapace fighting to survive in a dystopian society which prohibits multiple child families. It's a low budget movie with a great performance from Noomi worth an award imo. Edited January 8, 2018 by FrFan
