Destino
I was in a horror comedy mood this weekend watched The Babysitter on Netflix and Happy Death Day. Both were fun. Not good, but fun. Samara Weaving needs to get more roles as a crazy villain, she killed it. Plus, she's unfairly attractive so by all means more movies for her. Yeah she looks like a cross between Denise Richards and Margot Robbie. Wow...just...wow!
88Comrade2000
Saw Justice League. It didn't suck after all. It could've been better. I agree with others, the villain was meh. Wonder Woman was great. Flash and Aquaman were funny. The movie did seem to move a little fast. Still, I enjoyed the movie. I'll give it a B.
Chew
Oscar tour tonight. The Shape of Water, Lady Bird, Most Beautiful Island. Most Beautiful Island was....strange, but good. Really good. At only 79 minutes, it didn't waste much time getting to the point. Never seen anything like it, but I loved it. I'm in love with Ana Asensio. Smoking hot. The Shape of Water is the best movie I've seen in 2017. Period. Del Toro strikes again. I'm gonna say at least three Oscar noms for best actress, director, and best film. Beautiful. Lady Bird up next. Saiorise and Metcalf time.
FanboyOf91
There are two movies in Arrival. One is about various SF themes concerning language, communication, and time, and Villeneuve is very very good at presenting SF themes. The other is about the female main character's journey, and, having seen Sicario and Blade Runner 2049, I can now say Villeneuve is very very bad at handling female characters. A must-see, but damn man hire some women writers to iron that stuff out.
Mournblade
I just wish Villeneuve would put Emily Blunt in ALL his movies.

Momma There Goes That Man
Hm. I didn’t see that personally. Obviously she was the focus of the “twist” but she made a hell of a courageous and strong decision out of love and what that meant to her. I didn’t see the role doing women or her any disservice. Quite the opposite to me
Chew
Mudbound. Might be the best Netflix original film. Slow, depressing, and honest. This movie has no main character, just a drama about life on the Mississippi Delta after WWII. Poor whites and blacks. Carey Mulligan and Garrett Hedlund stole the show in this one. Really good film. 98% on Rotten. Edited November 23, 2017 by Chew
Chew
Lady Bird - Greta Gerwig will win best director. You can stamp it and I'll quote myself in March after she wins. I knew Saoirse was gonna be a star after seeing her in Hanna and Lovely Bones. Loved her in Brooklyn. She's one of my favorite young actresses. Dramatic coming of age movie. Metcalf delivered as a poor mom trying to make ends meet in 2002 California and her strained relationship with a stubborn teenage daughter. The vibe between Metcalf and Ronan reminded me of "All We Had" with Katie Holmes & Stefania Owen. Thor - pretty good, by far the best Thor movie. I don't think it was 92% on Rotten good, but I had a lot of fun. And it was funny, but definitely not as funny a GotG 1 like some people have suggested. Good movie tho. LOL @ the cameos in the play. Ingrid Goes West - pretty funny and kinda creepy. Plaza was great, one of her better performances. I want to marry Elizabeth Olsen. The House - arguably Will Ferrel's worst movie. Absolute trash, this movie blew my high. I think I laughed once.
88Comrade2000
Saw "Coco" and it was pretty good. A different cartoon than you're use too. Even a little twist in the movie. I think older kids will probably like it more than younger kids. I'll give it a A. Also, if you're a Frozen fan; they had mini-movie with Olaf and the gang for Christmas. Think it was 15-20 minutes long.

FanboyOf91
Tree of Life It rides the line between ambitious and overindulgent. Definitely a Catholic movie. 8/10

Definitely a Catholic movie. 8/10 I loved this movie, it's in my top 50 favorite movies of the 21st century. Tree of Life is one of those films that are criminally misunderstood, just like Giamatti's Lady in the Water . I felt Brad and Chastain gave it their all and Malick did the rest. Lubezki and Desplat took it to another level with the cinematography and music. I was blown away by it. I'm a very emotional person and have always worn my heart on my sleeve, and movies like ToL dig deep into my psyche and make me reflect on life. Almost to the point of tears. Not that I'm any sort of intellect or deep thinker, but I felt Terrance malick used the Tree of Life to show us that life can be both incredibly simple and also very complicated. Yet any and all life, regardless, is still beautiful. Makes you question why were here and what our purpose is. I enjoy movies that make you question things when the credits roll, and Tree of Life did that for me in a big way. And the music in this movie. Oh god, the music. The vocals combined with the visuals in this video still give me goosebumps. Edited November 28, 2017 by Chew 3

Destino
Coco! Loved it. Beautiful look at Mexican culture and display of Mexican music around an interesting story for a cartoon. Not particularly funny. Kind of a serious topic for a cartoon (death and dead family members) but they handled it well enough that my 4 year old enjoyed herself and wasn't troubled by any of it.
Mournblade
Spiderman Homecoming. Once again, I was duped by the people and critics on the internet who actually said this was good. All you really need to know is they decided to make Peter Parker 15 in this movie. You read that correctly, FIFTEEN YEARS OLD. Tom Holland is actually passable in this film, but his crew of 15 year old friends made me want to shoot myself. Ugh. I think Avengers Infinity War will be the last superhero movie I see. I'm starting to hate the genre and people who follow it. Edited December 4, 2017 by Mournblade

And Mary Jane Watson is in the movie, but no one seems to know or care who she is. Flash Thompson went from a physically intimidating bully, to a smart mouth nerd that is apparently scary because he says mean things sometimes. It's like someone let MTV writers in on the project. Mr. Sinister
(1998) Basically tells the story of a cursed violin, being presented at auction, made by a specialist after the death of his pregnant wife. It intertwines with various eras, people, and emotions. A man (Sam Jackson) and several others, take a keen interest in it, trying to outsmart and outbid each other, while the true nature of its origin and purpose is told. I loved it. Saw it awhile ago, but thought I'd mention it here. Perfect blend of mystery, drama, and passion
Momma There Goes That Man
Yeah I wasn’t a huge fan of Homecoming either. I thought the kids, Favreu and Keaton were the best parts. Best scene was Keaton talking to him in the car too. I hate that he basically had an iron man suit with webs instead of missiles. Felt like it really cheapened his character when he’s got a damn Jarvis he’s talking to strategizing with rather than relying on his own ability. Also him showing up in DC makes it way too obvious who he is to anyone paying attention. Spider-man is a great character. He doesn’t need the avengers universe or characters to make him compelling. I hope after infinity war we just let him go back to being by himself Edited December 4, 2017 by Momma There Goes That Man
