Howard Stern Listening Thread - Stern Signs to Judge Americas Got Talent

I am happy that Richard & Sal are not on every single day now, I like them in spurts. The phoney phone calls just blow, calling "Tradio" just gets old. Wish he could get some of the rock band's that he used to have in. These days he is just fawning over Neil Young's Harvest or Steven Stills.

Funny though, as much as I'd love to change so many things on the show, I'm sure the show would really suck and I should just let Howard do the driving (I think he know's what he's doing).

Jeez they completed owned Dr. Laura

Someone made audio of all the prank calls. NSFW....but great listening.

The show was great today

I haven't listened to the whole thing but people said she cried??

wow, brutal. Even by the show's standards. I realize Howard is the big dog at Sirius (npi), but I do wonder if sirius mgt might not tell him to cool it.

I heard some of that stuff this morning (they could only read transcripts, not play audio). It was over the top, even for HS standards. I don't care if they want to mess with her and clog her lines with phony phone calls, but calling her some of the names they did (I think I'd blow up the filter if I typed some of them) was too far, clearly.

The funny thing is how much of a hypocrite that HS has shown himself to be recently. He openly attacked Glen Beck after the shooting in AZ, first accusing him of inciting that attack, then just saying that his show incites people to want to attack others. Then, he openly goes after Dr. Laura's show and laughs when his whack pack attack her. Personally, that kind of constant barrage was unwarranted and HS really does need to take some responsibility and tell them to cool it (or like Zoony suggests, I think upper management will have a talk with him).

Question for all the HS fans

Do you guys think they are paying howard or Sirus when he goes on about certain products for days on end? For instance, the droid or youporn?

I don't know if he's serious or not but I really hate the hourly infomercial at the start of each show. He's done it with the iPad or upcoming movies.

I can dig it if he's giving them plugs but to continually drone on and on with the stuff, it fells like I'm listening to a long commercial.

I miss the old howard, he has become an elitist that watches american Idol or other pre-teen shows.

It's a fair question. I caught 5 minutes of the show the other morning where Stern was lashing out at his audience for daring to suggest that he did (get paid)

As for Howard becoming an elitist, I don't really get that. He's always been a bit feminine when it comes to music and TV.

The definition of the word would preclude an elitist from watching a populist show like American Idol. Just saying.

Howard has become an out of touch snob in recent years. I don't think he has become an elitist. He was always obsessed with trash culture and nerdy pursuits. If anything, he now talks more about sports than he ever did. The idea of 1992 Howard sitting court-side at the Knicks is laughable.

I don't think he gets paid for talking about the Ipad. He has always talked incessently about whatever gadget or product was the center of his world at the time. For years, I thought it was "The Howard Stern Show Brought To You By Lotus Notes."

LMAO at Lotus Notes.

I don't know why he talks so much about phones. As much as he loves his iPad, you'd think he would just get an iPhone for Verizon in a few weeks. I know he wants a keyboard or whatever but I'm really not sure what's so difficult about the iPhone set up.

Either way, listening to Howard and Gary talk about Android like it's the most complicated thing ever is infuriating.

Thats a tough question... if this was 1993, I would say no way, Howard is way too honest for a bs move like that but as a long time listener (since dc101) I honestly cant tell anymore... he has changed so much over the years that he is a completely different person from what he was. I do recognize that people change over time but honesty shouldnt. I love the show but its not as edgy or funny as it once was... the best thing about the show in the 2000's was Artie and now he is gone. The porn star thing gets old and I hate American Idol... I still listen every day but its not nearly as fun.

I would love to see Jackie back in the studio to liven things up. Hamptons Howie will never let that happen.

Stern is usually pretty up front about saying he's not getting paid for talking about a particular product. They have 4 hours of air time to fill, so of course he's going to talk about his interests: gadgets, chess, movies, etc.

I do find it hilarious when he and Robin talk about wanting to go for "lessons" at the Apple store. I mean c'mon, the iPad is one of the most simple and intuitive devices out there.

He criticizes the products as much as he compliments them. He's been critical about the iPad's lack of keyboard and flash. Just today he was complaining that the battery life of his Droid (or whatever the phone is) was only 4 hours, and disabling features to extend the battery life wasn't worth it. So no, I don't think he's paid to talk about the products he uses.

He used to talk about his Blackberry too, but then he also talked about replacing it.

The show has high and low periods, because a lot of it consists of Howard just talking about his life (which can't always be very exciting).

Either way, listening to Howard and Gary talk about Android like it's the most complicated thing ever is infuriating.

Howard's old. He's shown again and again that he's not very good with technology. I think Gary just acts like it's complicated to make Howard feel a little better.

Howard Stern has sued Sirius LOL....I bet Howard is having second thoughts about re-signing...Why wait a few months after your new contract is signed? (I bet his lawyer told him, so he make sure he could lock up some money)

I'm not sure what a person in his position could do otherwise if he feels like the company didn't give him the money he's owed. Hopefully this leads him to stop talking about his Apple collection. The last couple of weeks have been awful, because I couldn't care less about what computer or phone he uses.

So, Three day work weeks start next week.

It will be 4 days, 3 days, 4 days & 3 days each month... not sure which day they are skipping, Monday or Thursday.

Pretty lame.

At least they started playing history of stern shows in the afternoon on 101.

Yeah he hinted a while ago this was coming soon. Oh well, still beats no show at all.

I'd like to work 14/20 days every 4 weeks and make millions

Well, he's been on the radio for 35 years, so I'd say he's earned it. I am just less willing to listen to his complaints about how terrible his life is.

This is one of the funniest phony phone calls I've heard on the show in awhile.

http://youtu.be/suh4FOymda4

They get so lucky with some of the calls they make. I don't know how that guy came up with those email addresses.

I think this one is the masterpiece. Maybe not as funny, but really well done.

This might be the funniest.

Dude, you've said about 10 billion times that you hate Howard Stern. We get it.

I don't understand why you continually post in a thread about the guy.
