IONTOP
My friend who works in a building overlooking that part of the Hudson said that ppl were on the wing waiting to be rescued. I can't access any of the live feeds from work here, so I can't confirm. Your screen name and location is very ironic...
Kilmer17
Different that Air Florida because the Potomac was frozen and boats couldnt get to it. I still remember watching the guy swim out from shore to try and help.
Toe Jam
It looks like they're trying to nudge the plane towards shore.

Kilmer17
Wow. Just found out a friends wife is AT Laguardia right now. Her plane was scheduled to take off 10 minutes ago. Scary. Great news that everyone survived.
Larry
Just got home, watching CBS. They're interviewing a 60 Minutes producer who saw the plane from her office window. She didn't see the plane actually hit the water, she saw it in the water. She saw the plane floating. (They're showing live video, and it's still floating, at least somewhat. At the least, the ****pit and the rudder are out of the water.) She saw flotation devices deployed. She saw passengers standing on the wing. Lots of boats around the thing, right now. renaissance
Jeebus, can you imagine if the river wasn't right there? And I wish they'd stop talking about a "bird strike" as if the ****ing geese were out to get the plane. Glad everyone seems to be ok though. ST is my boy
I dont get how geese could take down an airplane.
DButz65
Cray shot of the passengers on the wings of the plane, hope EVERYONE is alright. Its crazy how many birds are around for the middle of January, if a bird did indeed hit the plane or got sucked into one of the engines.
Toe Jam
Sounds like they got everyone off of there. Awesome.
Stophovr6
I dont get how geese could take down an airplane. If enough get sucked into the turbine, it's my understanding that it can jam the turbine or do whatever else damage that would cause a power malfunction. Larry
Agree with the observation that there are lots of worse places to have a "plane crash" than in the Hudson river, within sight of Manhattan.

Glad everyone seems to be ok though. That's a common term in aviation and birds are actually a pretty big threat during takeoff and landing - it's funny because I was just reading about this a few weeks ago. Crazy that it doesn't happen more often.
