That was only 17 days decades ago, and leave my stonage alone.  I'm old & can do what I want.

I thought we were friends.

(And I'm also a sassy sarcastic one. ) 😄

Go to Renegades link. You’ll see that you were the first person I thought of! I do consider us friends. I consider a lot of people here friends even when we disagree. I’m glad this place isn’t gone. I was actually lost without it. It was only 36 hours or whatever, but I have been upset and thinking about it. 😆

This is the place I rely on for useful thoughts on what ever is going on in the world. I was gonna miss that the most I think.

I'd be pretty surprised at anyone who runs their application without any sort of microservices architecture in place. So I'd assume separate VMs for the various elements (though I'd run it in containers, personally).

I support a move towards containers when there's the expertise there and plan to stay committed to it.

I work security in software development, the number of people that think it looks cool, get in over their heads, then blackout leaving out of date **** for me to call out and get cleaned up is maddening.

Either be all in or all out, preferably out for folks that want or need to keep things simple, imo.

Well, I don't get too involved here anymore, not as much as I used to, but I usually visit and scan a few times a day.  It made me consider that this place has been a part of my life for 16 years.

I kind of missed you all, even though I probably haven't met you unless you were a tailgate regular from 2007-2009 when I had season tickets.

I just figured with that big ass noggin of yours that you couldn’t get close to a computer screen anymore. Wait, that’s what your user name implies, correct?

@ixcuincle

I badly want to give benefit of the doubt here that it was more oversight then intentional.

But it just speaks to another ownership group missing the opportunity to more directly engage with their fanbase, another "don't know how good they have it" situation to at this point not know this place even exists like that.

Yeah, sometimes I think I'm right but love coming here to make sure (voluntary gunchecking)...the necessary healthy reminder that I'm not always right is the opposite of a social media bubble...more like an actual community...

Yeah, fair point. Some people do run containers just because that's the "cool" thing to do without actually understanding why they're doing it, let alone how to do it correctly. Done right, it can make a SW guy's job that much easier as long as the docker images and repos are kept up to date. But I agree, don't do it unless you understand how to implement it correctly.
