Accused felon Rudy Giuliani praises The Citadel for letting him keep honorary degree

Not much is going right for Rudy Giuliani.

His recent indignities include 13 felony charges related to his attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election in Georgia, status as “co-conspirator 1” in one of former President Donald Trump’s federal indictments and the pending loss of his law license in Washington, D.C.

Meanwhile, an ex-employee is accusing Giuliani of sexual assault. The IRS says Giuliani owes massive back taxes. A motley cast of detractors, ranging from his former lawyers to President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, are suing the former New York City Mayor and Trump attorney over a variety of alleged misdeed

But at The Citadel, South Carolina’s public military college, Giuliani still ranks among the storied school’s most lauded awardees — the recipient of an honorary doctorate degree.

And unlike several other schools, including the University of Rhode Island, Drexel University and Middlebury College, which have stripped Giuliani of honorary degrees, The Citadel’s leadership has expressed no interest in revoking the honorary degree in public administration it bestowed upon Giuliani in 2007.

Giuliani’s team praised The Citadel for letting Giuliani keep his honorary degree.

Rudy Tells Trump He’ll Go Down With the Ship

Rudy Giuliani is bleeding cash, losing attorneys, racking up lawsuits against him, facing criminal charges, and alienating longtime friends and Republican Party stalwarts. And yet, as his life comes apart around him, Giuliani is still promising to go down with the Donald Trump-sized ship, sources familiar with the matter tell Rolling Stone.

The former top Trump lawyer bragged to associates in recent months that he’d never “break” or betray Trump, even as his own legal problem exploded and indictments were handed down, two sources with knowledge of these comments tell Rolling Stone.

The pledge highlights both Giualini’s declared loyalty in the face of extreme legal jeopardy and the former president’s growing isolation among the circle of advisers who helped him try to overturn the 2020 election. As the Trump legal team games out which of his co-defendants are most likely to cooperate with prosecutors, Giuliani appears to be one of the few alleged co-conspirators whose loyalty is viewed as uniquely reliable.

Trump himself appears to have confidence in his former attorney’s loyalty. Since he’s left office, Trump has occasionally joked to confidantes that Giuliani is so loyal, federal authorities could put his former attorney in “solitary” confinement, and he still wouldn’t say anything negative about Trump, according to two people who’ve spoken with the former president. Maybe that’s why, despite the former Trump campaign lawyer’s unique solidarity, Trump still isn’t doing much to help alleviate his mounting legal bills.A spokesperson for Giuliani did not respond to questions from Rolling Stone.

For all the bravado of his loyalty pledge, it appears that Giuliani doesn’t have many good options for the moment even if he was open to cooperating with prosecutors against Trump. District Attorney Fani Willis has offered lenient plea deals with lighter sentences of probation and fines to a number of Giuliani’s co-defendants. But there are no such sweetheart plea deals in sight for the former New York City mayor, according to two people familiar with the matter.

Giuliani’s more recent promises to MAGA fellow travelers follow a similar 2021 pledge he made to his former client in which he said he would never turn on Trump, unlike other “weak” souls, according to a person familiar with their post-presidential interactions. But since 2021, Giulaini’s legal problems have only multiplied, a development that assures his oath of undying fealty to Trump is about to be put to its greatest test.

Trump, who often views loyalty as a one-way street, has privately told associates that he expects his fellow election-denying loyalists and possible witnesses for the prosecution to be willing to go to jail, rather than flip. Despite Giulaini’s growing legal bills, the former president has shown only a limited willingness to help with his former attorney’s finances.

Trump has paid out tens of millions for his own legal bills thanks to a campaign warchest held by his Save America PAC. But when Giulaini and his attorney asked Trump for help paying for his continuing legal defense, the former president agreed only to headline a fundraising event rather than make a cash contribution.

Adding to Giuliani’s recent legal troubles is the plea deal struck by Jenna Ellis, a former Trump campaign attorney who worked closely with him in late 2020 to try and overturn the election. In an interview with The Atlanta Journal Constitution, Ellis’s attorney Frank Hogue said “I think [Giuliani] should be” worried about the case against him. Ellis, he said, “wouldn’t be a help” if called to testify but, according to Hogue, “his troubles extend far beyond her.”

Maybe indicating that they have something on him?

Maybe witness protection might be attractive?  (If Rudy has something to offer, that's worth it?)

At this point I'm thinking the prosecutors feel they have enough that they don't need Rudy to flip. They probably believe they can get both Rudy and Trump.

I visited the 9/11 museum in New York a couple of weeks ago and it’s crazy to think how big a hero he was in the aftermath.

His mayorship ended weeks after 9/11 and he could’ve so easily ridden off into the sunset and be remembered forever as a hero. Instead he’s going to be remembered as the felon dripping hair dye on his face in front of four seasons landscaping.

FBI Raids Home of Prominent Bureau Whistleblower

Federal agents on Monday raided the Los Angeles-area home of an FBI whistleblower who has alleged that bureau higher-ups thwarted an investigation of Rudy Giuliani, two sources said. The whistleblower, FBI agent Jonathan Buma, has said that Giuliani “may have been compromised” by Russian intelligence while working as a lawyer for Donald Trump.

Scott Horton, an attorney representing Buma, said that Buma was presented with a search warrant when he went into the bureau’s Orange County, California, field office on Monday. Agents searched Buma’s person, after which a large group of agents, over more than six hours, searched his residence, confiscating all the digital media in the home, including the computers and watches of his wife and four children.

A search warrant reviewed by Mother Jones said the agents were looking for evidence that Buma had violated laws against unauthorized removal of classified documents and unauthorized removal of national defense documents.

Horton said that the search turned up no classified material and that the agents seized only Buma’s own whistleblower complaint, which is not classified. The raid “is designed to be in retaliation for the whistleblower complaints,” Horton claimed. “It’s very heavy harassment.”

Buma has also been “shunned and attacked” by fellow agents, Horton said. He said that in recent weeks, someone put large plastic rats, three-to-four feet long, next to Buma’s FBI cubicle.

Buma has filed statements with congressional investigators outlining his findings related to Giuliani and detailing his allegations that senior bureau officials shut down his investigative efforts and later retaliated against him. Buma’s claims, some of which leaked this summer, received substantial media attention, including from Mother Jones, in part because he has countered GOP arguments that the bureau was eager to investigate Trump allies but was reluctant to look into Hunter Biden. Buma claims the opposite was true. He asserted in a statement filed with the Senate Judiciary Committee that FBI agents moved quickly to scrutinize information on Hunter Biden’s business activities, even as his own investigation into Giuliani was shut down without explanation. (Buma has said that his investigative work was the first to turn up certain pieces of information related to Hunter Biden’s Ukraine dealings.)

Known that for at least 5 years?

Remember James Comey?  Hero of Trumpland?  Made the announcement which the Trumpers claimed was the smoking gun that was going to expose the cover up of Hillary's deleted emails, one week before the election?

Remember reading at the time, that he was blackmailed into announcing it, by FBI field agents who were threatening to leak it, if he didn't make the announcement?

Rudy Giuliani Calls for the Democratic Party To Be Abolished

Former New York mayor and former Donald Trump's personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani said that American politics should "get rid" of the Democratic Party because it's "too corrupt" at the top.

In an interview with journalist Dan Ball on Wednesday for his show Real America, which airs on far-right, pro-Trump channel One America News (OAN), Giuliani praised the Republican Party as "a patriotic conservative movement" and blasted the Democratic Party as a self-serving organization.

"Political parties do their best job when they serve the country, not when the country is serving them," Giuliani told Ball, as shown in a clip shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, by OAN.

"Right now the Republican Party is a means to an objective, if you want to get there through conservative party, independent party... gosh, if you want to be a Democrat and vote Republican," he continued.

"I think you got to get rid of the Democrat Party, I think it's become too corrupt at the top," the former Trump lawyer added. "They probably should get rid of it if they're not hypocrites. Think of all the statues they take down because of slavery and whatever. Nobody had more to do with slavery than the Democrat Party, they were the architects of it."

Rudy Giuliani is So Broke His Accountants Are Suing Him

Rudy Giuliani, who is already going broke, has been sued again by the accounting firm he hired to get him through his most recent divorce.

Giuliani hired BST & Co. CPAs, which is based in upstate New York, in 2018 to value his business assets during his divorce from Judith Nathan. The firm filed a lawsuit on Monday stating that Giuliani never paid them the $10,000 retainer they agreed on. BST is also seeking $15,000 in legal fees.

BST sent multiple letters to Giuliani over the past five years requesting that he pay up, according to the lawsuit. Giuliani allegedly ignored every single one.

The BST lawsuit is just the latest accusing Giuliani of failing to pay his debts—and he could be on the hook for much, much more money. Several of Giuliani’s former lawyers, including his longtime attorney Robert Costello, have sued Giuliani for failing to pay their legal fees.

Giuliani has begun representing himself in court to save some cash. The man once affectionately known as “America’s mayor” is scrambling to find the money for all his legal fees and even listed his Manhattan apartment for sale in July. In August, after he was indicted in Georgia, Giuliani asked his social media followers to donate to his defense fund.

He also flew to Mar-a-Lago to beg his boss Donald Trump to pay him for working as Trump’s personal attorney. That didn’t work, but Trump did agree to host a fundraiser dinner for Giuliani. Entry cost $100,000 a plate, but Giuliani paid Costello just $10,000 in September.

In addition to the racketeering charges in Georgia, Giuliani was ordered to pay more than $130,000 to Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss. The two women served as 2020 election workers in Georgia, and Giuliani falsely accused them for months of fraud. Freeman and Moss are also seeking between $15.5 million and $43 million from Giuliani for alleged defamation.

Meanwhile, Nathan says Giuliani owes her more than $260,000 for her country club memberships, condominium fees, and health care as part of their divorce settlement.

Giuliani hires 'country lawyer' to defend him in Georgia RICO case after weeks without attorney

Former Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani has now retained the services of a small town lawyer from rural Georgia to represent him in his high-stakes RICO case in Fulton County.

L. Allyn Stockton, whom the Wall Street Journal described as a "country lawyer," has been the county attorney for Rabun County, Georgia — which has a population of roughly 16,000 residents — for the past 23 years. The Journal reports he has represented a wide breadth of clients ranging from DUI suspects to death row inmates. Stockton told the publication that despite Giuliani's ongoing financial hardships, the former New York City mayor has agreed to pay him, and that his client will not be accepting any plea deals.

"No offer has been sought, nor is one expected," Stockton said.

Rudy Giuliani fears 'prison for the rest of my life' after laptop 'manipulation' claim

Rudy Giuliani expressed fear on Sunday that he could go to prison for the rest of his life after Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) suggested that data from Hunter Biden's laptop had been "manipulated" by the former New York mayor.

On his Sunday radio program, Giuliani said he deserved praise for exposing the contents of a laptop belonging to President Joe Biden's son, Hunter.

"Do you think I'm entitled to some credit for being the one who brought out Biden for the first time?" Giuliani asked longtime girlfriend and co-host Maria Ryan.

"You deserve a lot of credit," Ryan agreed.

"They don't," Giuliani complained. "They think I deserve to go to prison for the rest of my life for doing it."

"That's why they went after you, Rudy, because you had information, and you were highly credible," Ryan insisted. "They had to discredit you, so they made up stories about you."

Giuliani argued that he had been "vindicated" even though a lawsuit from Hunter Biden accused him of hacking and manipulating the laptop's contents.

I thin Giuliani should be more worried about the GA trial than Hunter's laptop.  But at least if he's jailed for the rest of his life he doesn't have to worry about being bankrupted from all his legal woes, he's got 3 hots and a cot lined up.

'Simply nonsense': Judge shoots down Rudy Giuliani's desperate bid to escape liability

A federal judge peevishly shot down Rudy Giuliani's last-ditch effort to avoid a jury trial in a libel suit brought by a mother-daughter pair of Georgia poll workers.

District judge Beryl Howell denied the former Donald Trump lawyer's request by repeatedly noting that his attorney had missed deadlines in the case filed by Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, and she rejected his argument that mistakes by the pair's counsel justified a shift from a jury trial to a bench trial.

"This is simply nonsense," Howell wrote in a footnote to her order. "Giuliani's counsel's two-sentence email cited three out-of-circuit, non-binding cases, dated between thirty and nearly fifty years ago, without any express statement that Giuliani planned to seek a bench trial or that he would do so in reliance on this cited authority."
