Pence came within a hair's breadth of complying with Trump's wishes on J6.

No he didn't.

He was against Trump's plan since the first time Trump suggested the plan to him. The one thing he did NOT do, is go public with the plan. Which I think he should have. He knew they lost, he knew he was on his way out in about a month or so. But he wanted to keep his stature in the GOP...so he did put his interests over the interests of the country by remaining mum. Trump had numerous people talk to Pence to convince him the plan was legal and legit, and Pence had his team start researching what he was being told. So, no, he didn't come within a hair's breadth of complying.

You are correct.  However, the fact that he didn't come forward when he knew other people were engaged in illegal activities is itself a crime.  It's called Misprision of a Felony. 18 U.S. Code § 4

Quote

Whoever, having knowledge of the actual commission of a felony cognizable by a court of the United States, conceals and does not as soon as possible make known the same to some judge or other person in civil or military authority under the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

Is the "commission of a felony" part a loophole since they had not committed the felony yet? Or for that law, is knowing of the planning to commit a felony the same as knowing a felony has been committed?

Well some of the false elector schemes were done before Jan. 6th so there were many crimes before that day.  I'm pretty sure he was made aware of Eastman's plan.

True...I also wondered if that law could be used against him for not coming forward to say what he knows after Jan. 6th...

Just observing - "planning to commit a felony" is called "conspiracy".  And it's a felony.

Have to say, I really don't care about finding documents at Pence's place.

He doesn't have a history of intentionally trying to destroy records.

Or of taking intentional steps to conceal them.

And my (admittedly ignorance-based) opinion of him is that he didn't intentionally steal them, with intent to sell them.

Rather, my opinion is that he's like almost everybody at that level. He spent years, handling maybe hundreds of classified documents a day. And occasionally, he (or somebody under him) made a mistake.

I don't think it's news.

Biden attorneys in talks with federal prosecutors over terms of his interview in classified documents case

Attorneys for President Joe Biden and the special counsel appointed to investigate his handling of classified documents have been negotiating for about a month over the terms under which he would be interviewed, two people familiar with the matter said.

Discussions between Biden’s lawyers and special counsel Robert Hur’s office are focused on how, when and where the interview might take place, as well as the scope of the questions, these people said. They stressed that the negotiations are ongoing and that no agreement has been reached.

The back-and-forth suggests that the probe — now in its eighth month — may not be wrapping up imminently. But an interview with the person at the center of an investigation typically takes place near the end of the process.

A spokesperson for Biden’s personal attorney, Bob Bauer, declined to comment Thursday, as did a spokesperson for Hur.

Biden interviewed as part of the special counsel investigation into handling of classified documents

President Joe Biden has been interviewed as part of an independent investigation into his handling of classified documents, the White House said late Monday. It’s a possible sign that the investigation is nearing its end.

Special counsel Robert Hur is examining the improper retention of classified documents by Biden from his time as a U.S. senator and as vice president that were found at his Delaware home, as well as at a private office he used after his service in the Obama administration.

Biden has said he was unaware he had the documents and that " there’s no there there. ”

Ian Sams, a spokesperson for the White House counsel’s office, said in a statement that the voluntary interview was conducted at the White House on Sunday and Monday as Biden and his national security team grappled with their response to the surprise weekend attack on Israel by Hamas militants and as the president received some criticism for not being more visible during the crisis.

It’s not clear when Hur’s team approached Biden’s lawyers about an interview or how long they’d been negotiating. Asked on Aug. 25 if he planned to sit for an interview with the special counsel, Biden replied, “There’s no such request and no such interest.”

The interview could signal that the special counsel investigation is nearing its conclusion.

So once again some aide most likely packed them in the box when cleaning out ol Sleepy Joe's VP office. Same **** what happened with Pence n his box of unclassified whatever.

Neither of those guys were boxing up documents and then putting them in uhaul trucks. Then driving them to their country club to be stored in a bathroom and sold to the king of Saudi Arabia. 🤣
