The last of the Redskins' players - Last Man Standing.

As the new name will be revelead in less than a month, I started to feel a bit of nostalgic about Redskins' days.

Because if that means a lot for us, obviously, it also means a lot for the players too.

Then I was wondering, who in the league did wear that Redskins helmet?

ap_832621700602.jpg?w=824&quality=70

This helmet was put in the history books 2 years ago. So, any players that played for the Football Team only could not qualify as one that has played for the Redskins, and still be on a NFL roster as of today.

To qualify as a Redskins player, they have had to step on the field for at least 1 snap to say they officially wore the helmet.

There's some obvious name on this list, but also some that are much unknown to us, still I went through PFR back until 2009 to see which players that played for this team, up until 2019, to see which one are still playing in the NFL.

So I thought it would be cool, in some way, to keep track of those that wear the Skins' helmet before it was taken out, and I will try to keep track on them, to find out who will be the last man standing as a Redskins player!

Here is the full list (separated in two list as some suggested):

This forced me to go back and look at the 2018 and 2019 rosters.  Football is such a cruel game that spits out guys ruthlessly.  Guys like Quinten Dunbar, DJ Swearinger, Shaun Dion Hamilton, Adonis Alexander, Caleb Brantley, all out of the league.

Josh Harvey-Clemons and Mason Foster, too

Ha Ha Clinton Dix is still getting paid to play football? He stunk 5 years ago when he was with us, how in god's name is he still around? I do remember though when we traded for him and how I loved the trade. I thought pairing him up with DJ Swearinger was gonna take our D to dizzying heights. Once again, I got snookered by this franchise- !@#$ you Bruce!

Yeah, then clocked us afterwards with a couple of picks, I remember that.

So you dont think it would be a good resource?

I was only talking about why the thread doesn't need to be in the ATL forum lol...or merged with that other one. I actually don't even think players who are not on the team anymore need to be listed, but that's just me. I'm more interested in who will be the last player left with the franchise who played while the franchise was still called the Redskins. Seeing the list dwindle down to a few remaining players who were once called Redskins will be bittersweet but also interesting.

64 players in finally, not that much, and 20 players are still on the team (in bold on the list above) and ill have gone through Redskins, Football Team and ????

Feel free to add names if I missed some, as long as they have played an actual NFL regular season snap, be it on Offense, Defense, or Special Team while playing for the Redskins.

We can also have fun with this list and place bets on who will be the last guy that ever played for the Redskins to quit the NFL?

Awesome list!!  A suggestion based on @Califan007  Maybe break it down into 2 lists  - one of current players and one of previous players. It would be really cool to see who the last players were wore the Washington Redskins uniform.

Thnak's for posting this! Will be checking back to see how it goes.

Nobody wants to hear this but there’s a pretty decent chance that despite how long ago he was drafted, as a QB Kirk Cousins has a real chance to be the last guy in the league who wore our former name and logo. If they stay healthy and have great careers guys like McLaurin and the stud DL have a chance. But if I absolutely had to place a bet, I’d put the money on Kirk cashing game checks until he’s ~40. That’s 7 years. A lot can happen in 7 years but QBs age the best and he’s really never been injured. And man he loves starting QB money.

Actually I would think that's hilarious especially if he never makes a SB and that he was the last standing Redskin is what he is most known for and that horrible contract would be awesome!

That's an interesting idea.

Actually I start thinking at this with that kind of approach, but tought it wouldn't be fair to guys like Kerrigan or Cousins that are important to this franchise one way or another, so I decided it would be better to include them on this list as well as everybody else as well, since it's a business, they can always come back to the team to. After all, I kinda expect somebody like Kerrigan signing a 1 day contract to retire with us.

But as @goskins10 suggested, maybe I could break this down in two lists. Why not after all.

And as you nailed it perfectly, it's more about the Redskins' name, than the players themselves.

As of now, I would say that Tress Way has a real chance to be that guy too.

Punters can last long, especially when they're as good as him.

And honestly, somehow, he deserves it becauses it's always great to watch him run for the tackle. Guy simply as no fear.

But Kirk Cousins is a good bet too.

Yeah, the parts in bold are good points...maybe having the two lists like GoSkins10 suggested is indeed a good idea.

You should lawyer up, contact every legal US gambling site & sell this idea to the highest bidder as a bet on their site...and then send me 49.9% of what you get. We're talking 6-7 years of potential bets they'll be making.

I respect the premise of this thread ,but it will be depressing to see the amount of people that rocked the old logo slowly dwindle over time.

Yes a little depressing but really like the idea of the thread.

Shocking how low the number is already.

It will be more depressing if the last man standing is Haskins

I have abosultely no contacts in the gambling system. But at the very least, this thread could prove that I had that idea first and could make maybe more from justice if someone happened to stole me the idea. Maybe Dan Snyder could try to stole the idea and I would require for him to sell the team to settle the score and use this thread as proof. Since he owns the site and is known for having spend time on this site at one point, I case would have some credibility I think.

Yeah, I stand corrected and edited the OP accordingly.

Btw, as @goskins10 and @Califan007 suggested I've separated lists in two. Players still on the team, and those that aren't on the team anymore. I believe Scherff will be switching list in a month or two...

It's likely to be some special teamer who never started or was never a "name," but is a survivor. A James Thrash type or a Deshavor Everett type. If he'd been drafted a year earlier, I'd say Cheeseman. Those long snappers last forever.

Cheeseman wasn't a Redskin.
