Us Tar Heels on this site (and there seem to be quite a few) have known that for quite a while. And their dad was Mark Maye, who was the UNC quarterback in the mid-80's who lit it up and likely would have had at least some success in the NFL except for injuries.

I don't think anyone is saying that they would choose Howell over Caleb, in a vacuum. But the reality is that in order to get up to #1 to draft Caleb it will likely require the next three year's #1 picks. And that will immediately handcuff a new GM/Coaching staff for their first two years.

Very good chance we would have won that game and ended up in (at least) the NFC title game that season, and Griffin's career could have been extended.

The worst trade in franchise history was the one we did NOT make: Cousins to San Fran for the #2 overall pick in 2017. That would have likely been Mahomes or Deshaun Watson (or more likely for our numb-nuts drafting they would have probably picked Trubisky). But still ....
