is this seriously what is in the comments section? This is one of those stories that I purposely avoid comments section. I would become physically ill to read that crap.

It was all over Twitter and Reddit last night.  I can only imagine what the Facebook alternative news sites were pushing.

Especially when those narratives aren’t exactly playing out….

looks more like the guy that did this was just a real piece of garbage, facing prison, and just blew his top when he encountered this parade.  Seems unlikely that he planned it, and he wasn’t fleeing police at the time.  Not the first time he’d run someone over either.

Brooks was acting alone, authorities said in a news conference Monday afternoon. He had been involved in a "domestic disturbance" just prior to crashing his SUV into the parade. Authorities say police were not engaged in a chase of the suspect at the time of the incident, but that one officer did fire several times at Brooks' vehicle as he drove through the parade.

Brooks has a criminal history in Wisconsin. In 2020, he was charged with recklessly endangering safety and being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to documents from the Milwaukee District Attorney's office provided to NPR.

The documents also show that Brooks previously used his vehicle to cause harm. Earlier this month, he confronted a woman outside a motel. He knocked her phone out of her hand and drove off. He then returned, punch her in the face and and ran her over with his vehicle. The report notes that the woman had tire marks on her pants in addition to other injuries from the incident.

Not mentioned above is that there are videos online where he admits to pimping a 16 year old girl in Nevada, where he’s registered as a sex offender.  So on top of domestic abuse, drugs, and guns, he’s also an admitted sex trafficker.  And now a mass murderer.

Do we ever hear the right things, this was a loser of society that decided he wanted to evade police and the easiest path he saw was plowing through a parade...theres no black blue green white or orange in this. Hope this guy likes prison.

Police weren’t chasing him when this began.  Cops were minding their own business manning barricades set up to close off the street for the parade, and this guy showed up and crashed through them.

They haven’t said drugs were involved, but this has the feel of a violent panicky meth user.

According to the Washington Post he was involved in a knife fight at a totally separate location, the police showed up at the knife fight, and he sped away from the police there. The parade just happened to be in the way.

If you watch the over head shot there is a moment you can tell he is thinking about it for a split second

CBS 2 found records for another ongoing case from July, 2020.  According to that criminal complaint, Brooks got into a physical fight with a relative over a cell phone and fired a gun at the relative and a friend who were leaving in a vehicle. He was charged with two counts of recklessly endangering safety with use of a dangerous weapon, and possession of a firearm/convicted of felony. He pleaded not guilty in this case.

  • In 2011 Brooks was found guilty on a resisting/obstructing an officer charge.
  • In 2010, he was found guilty on strangulation and suffocation felony charges in Wood County.
  • In 1999, he was found guilty on substantial battery-intend bodily harm, a felony.
  • Brooks was also a convicted sex offender, stemming from a case in Nevada about 15 years ago. He got a 15-year-old girl pregnant in Sparks, Nevada when he was 24, authorities said. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to probation. On June 23, 2016, he was arrested in the same town for failing to register as a sex offender. He bailed out on that charge and never appeared in court. He has had an active warrant from Nevada since then. The police department in Sparks, NV told CBS 2 the warrant was specific to Nevada and not other states. However, it’s unclear if authorities from Nevada and Wisconsin had previously communicated about the warrant, and whether authorities in Wisconsin were aware of it. CBS 2 has contacted the Milwaukee County Distract Attorney’s Office and the Milwaukee Police Department with questions.
  • In 2003 he pleaded guilty to a charge of misdemeanor resisting arrest.
  • In 2005 he got brief prison time for obstructing a police officer, also a misdemeanor.

And somehow the POS made bail

Doorbell video appears to show arrest of Waukesha parade suspect

Unaware of Sunday's crash, Daniel Rider said he invited suspect Darrell Brooks into his home and made him a sandwich before authorities arrived.

The suspect accused of mowing down a crowd of holiday revelers in Wisconsin was captured in a doorbell camera before his arrest pleading for help and telling a resident he was waiting for an Uber, according to video obtained Monday by NBC News.

The Nov. 21 video also shows authorities arriving at the Waukesha home and telling the suspect, Darrell Brooks, 39, to put his hands up.

It isn’t clear whether the house, roughly a half-mile from the Waukesha Christmas parade route that Brooks is accused of plowing into, is where police placed him under arrest.

It Didn’t Take Long for Waukesha Parade Attack Suspect to Get Kicked Out of Court and Go Shirtless

Homicide defendant Darrell Brooks, 40, got was out of court and took off his shirt mere minutes into the first day of his trial for killing six people at a parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin last November.

Brooks has been representing himself since splitting from his public defenders last week, and things have been rocky.

After he showed up to court on Thursday wearing jail orange, Judge Jennifer Dorow repeatedly asked Brooks if he wanted to put on a suit, noting that doing so would be helpful to his case. Brooks suggested that putting on a suit would be futile because it’s well publicized that he is in jail. The judge, however, found his answer to be unresponsive.

Brooks is charged as the person who rammed an SUV through the Waukesha Christmas parade last year, killing six people: Jackson Sparks, 8, Tamara Durand, 52, Jane Kulich, 52, Leanna “Lee” Owen, 71, Virginia Sorenson, 79, and Wilhelm Hospel, 81.

The encounter on Thursday continued a week-long pattern since Brooks’ hearing in which he fired his attorneys and insisted on representing himself. He has described himself as a “sovereign citizen” or, as he later said, “sovereign.” So-called sovereign citizens assert that the government holds no true, legal sway over them because they, not the government, are the “sovereign.”

As seen on footage from Thursday, Brooks’ repeated interruptions resulted in him being hauled into another courtroom, linked by a video stream and audio feed that Dorow’s court could control. The proceedings continued after a brief recess. For the record, the judge said she was told Brooks would not sit down. He was resisting, she said. He took off a shoe, and it appeared to deputies that he was going to throw it.

Brooks could be seen with his back to the camera and his shirt off. Dorow said she was told he was threatening to throw and break items. She noted that he said he wanted headphones because he had trouble hearing out of one ear. The judge said she declined because of his threats to throw and break things.

Trial just wrapped.  Or, rather, the judge is reading the jury for all 67 counts.  I’ve been watching YouTube clips all evening.  If it wasn’t so sad for the victims it would be kind of funny watching him flail as he represented himself.

He deserves to be executed, people like him are why you have the death penalty.  Did he get a terrorism charge?

Except Wisconsin doesn't have the death penalty, and in fact was the first state in the US to abolish the death penalty...in 1853.

No terrorism charge, I don’t believe.  If you want to watch the behavior of a narcissist these clips are fascinating.

His entire closing argument was a whole lot of words that didn’t say anything.

He won’t get the death penalty, but this guy ain’t built for prison.  He’ll be holding somebody’s pocket very soon.

A far better punishment imo. Killing him is letting him off easy.

Yea, what I don't find hypocritical at all is some saying expecting someone to get raped the rest of their life behind bars is somehow perfectly acceptable compared to jus killing them for what they did.  😒

No one should be celebrating additional law breaking in what are supposed to be correctional facilities as "justice".

Can't pass the buck of not wanting on one's conscious executing someone then openly owning how f'd up our prison system is and the amount of crime that can't be stopped by keeping people like him alive as some sort of "right thing to do" sticker.
