"Eric Clapton was asked about how it felt to be the world's best guitarist. His response: 'I don't know. Ask Prince.'"

Yep, one of the most badass compliments I've ever seen given.  And for the record for others, this is way before Prince died, so not a posthumous BS thing.

EVH said that about Alan Holdsworth back in the 80's. And honestly, Holdsworth made almost everyone look like a toddler on the guitar. Including EVH.

I remember when someone first told me that EVH was an incredible guitarist, but I'd only heard the singles from Vagar Halen at that point, and I was like, "Yeah right."

Then I was sent "Eruption" and I think my jaw still hurts from hitting the ground.

I think we will add a 5th lb, maybe after week 1, but it will be a guy we had during TC.  they might just want to see how waivers shake out and see if they can upgrade there, knowing they have a few guys they can bring back if an upgrade doesn't present itself.  Norris/kunaczyk?/mayo etc aren't all getting claimed, and they are all pretty comparable JAGs.

I'd add McKinney, and cut Carter.  If I'm drunk enough to convince myself Carter will have a significant impact for us, I'd cut Roberts.

Hopefully, with as much as our defense is gonna force punts, that extra 9 yards or so per return he gets every time could be significant over the course of a game.

Apke IMO is a really bad safety, pretty bad CB from what i've seen and heard.  But he's supposedly a borderline elite special teams player hence he's on the squad.  Most teams like to have a killer special teams specialist or two.  He's our version of that.

Keep hearing how good he is on special teams (2nd and 3rd hand). I have no idea either way, I just haven't spent much time dwelling on coverage units to have an opinion. Curious if any one here has spent anytime watching him on ST.

Wonder how much our average age goes down if we replace Fitzpatrick with a rookie QB.

I was thinking the same thing for Tampa with Brady. lol

Holy crap, Texans at .7

No wonder Watson wants out.

Yeah, that's pretty much an expansion team at this point.

I thought it was interesting that we're the only team in the top 14 that had a QB graded below 2.0.

I do think he needs to adjust his weightings a bit more.  There's no way the Chiefs should be ranked outside of the top 5 overall.

I guess he likes what he saw from our rookie TE's in preseason?

There's a solid chance his ranking for our defense improves too.  Depends on how the safeties are used and if Landon Collins rehab/body-change makes him better as advertised.

Remind me how the Chargers are continuously thought of as a 12-5 team and a big favorite week 1?  Their overall roster does not look like a team getting a dozen wins.

Nah, his recent WFT TE grade hasn't changed from his August 5th grades.  I think he just likes Logan Thomas a lot.  And looking at the TEs across the rest of the league, it's hard not to.  There's a definite dearth of talent at that position.

Speaking of McLoughan, I listed his 2 drafts with us.

And it didn't just stop, with his departure from Washington.

I recall him continuing to tweet that "Matt Jones was a true, real football player", even after McLou left, and even after Jones was cut and couldn't find a job.

Scherff, everyone agrees, was a no-brainer that fell into our lap. Crowder, Fuller, and Ioannidis were good picks, of course. But the rest of those picks ?

The good picks are what you'd expect from just your typical average GM. The bad ones were terribly bad, and certainly more than washed out the good ones.

But compare that to now, as Rivera seems to be finding uses for virtually every single pick he makes, all the way down to the 7th Round.

What it comes down to, is he wasn't really terrible, but not great either. McLou was certainly over-rated.

Not quite the "Diamond in the Rough" locator, that he seems to be reputed to be.

2015 Draft

2 38 Preston Smith DE Mississippi
3 95 Matt Jones RB Florida

6 181 Kyshoen Jarrett FS Virginia Tech
182 Tevin Mitchel CB Arkansas
187 Evan Spencer WR Ohio State
7 222 Austin Reiter C South Florida

2016 Draft

Round Overall Name Position College

2 53 Su'a Cravens LB Southern California
3 84 Kendall Fuller CB Virginia Tech
5 152 Matt Ioannidis DE Temple
6 187 Nate Sudfeld QB Indiana
7 232 Steven Daniels LB Boston College
242 Keith Marshall RB Georgia

Not sure, but the waiver claims have started going through.

Teams had until noon today to put in a claim on any player with less than 4 years accrued service, so I believe AGG and the rest of our younger guys can be signed to the PS now once they've gotten confirmation from the NFL that no claim was made.  I'm sure we will be getting a lot of breaking news throughout the day.
