Well, to be fair, it's hard to give your support when you're dead.

the time of polling coincides with the death spiking, probably best not to extrapolate it beyond a certain time period.

And yet, apparently non-essential travel to Hawaii is allowed.  If the tourist has enough money to pay for a hotel and room service for two weeks.

According to an article which you posted, in this thread, less than an hour ago.

Never said they were stupid 😃

Yeah, they'll probably forget about their dead friends, and being considered expendable, between now and the election.

Old folks, you know.  Memory.

Or making it extremely obvious that their age group can be flushed down the toilet in order to save the economy, that'll definitely be forgotten in a few months.

US reopening: What states are relaxing social distancing restrictions and moving away from lockdowns?

Various social distancing orders across the U.S. helped slow the spread of the coronavirus, but states are feeling increasing pressure from protesters and the White House to relax restrictions.

Such a swift reopening runs counter to the advice of many experts, including Dr. Anthony Fauci, the government’s top authority on infectious diseases, who warned has warned that resuming business too soon risked a fresh spike in infections.

“I think the message is that, clearly, this is something that is hurting from the standpoint of economics, from the standpoint of things that have nothing to do with the virus,” Fauci said. “But, unless we get the virus under control, the real recovery, economically, is not gonna happen.”

President Donald Trump, who announced guidelines Thursday for states to start opening their economies, cited a handful of states taking steps toward a "safe, gradual and phased opening," including Texas, Vermont and Ohio. He is pushing to relax the U.S. lockdown by May 1, a plan that hinges partly on more coronavirus testing.

Several states announced plans to coordinate their response with neighbors: California is moving forward in coordination with Washington and Oregon; governors from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware and Rhode Island announced plans to form a joint task force.

Here is a list of states making moves to roll back social distancing regulations. We will keep this file updated:

'Bitter pill': Bavaria cancels Oktoberfest over fears of coronavirus spread

Bavaria’s leaders have cancelled Oktoberfest, the world’s biggest beer festival, due to fears that it could become a breeding ground for the coronavirus.

The 210-year-old festival, which attracts around 6 million visitors a year, is a major event in the German calendar.

Markus Söder, the premier of Bavaria, which has been one of the regions worst hit by the pandemic in Europe, said the Oktoberfest posed too big a public health risk. He had hinted over several weeks that it was “on the rocks” and was unlikely to take place.

“Living with coronavirus means living carefully,” Söder said. “As long as there is no vaccination, we need to be very sensible. We are in mutual agreement that the risk is quite simply too high … compromises will not help.”

Hospital delivers bodies to Philly medical examiner in the open back of a pickup truck

The horror of the coronavirus pandemic took an especially macabre turn on Sunday afternoon when a Ford pickup truck pulled up behind the Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office with five or six bagged bodies stacked in its open cargo bed.

The driver got out, spoke briefly to a medical examiner’s employee who seemed unnerved by the delivery, and then climbed onto the cargo bed, walking on bodies that initially had been covered by mats, according to an Inquirer photographer who was working near the site in University City.

He pulled the bodies by their feet to the edge of the truck bed. The remains were offloaded one at a time onto gurneys and wheeled up a ramp into a refrigerated trailer.

The Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that a transfer of human remains from a local hospital had arrived in “an unapproved manner.”

A malaria drug widely touted by President Donald Trump for treating the new coronavirus showed no benefit in a large analysis of its use in U.S. veterans hospitals. There were more deaths among those given hydroxychloroquine versus standard care, researchers reported.

The nationwide study was not a rigorous experiment. But with 368 patients, it’s the largest look so far of hydroxychloroquine with or without the antibiotic azithromycin for COVID-19, which has killed more than 171,000 people as of Tuesday.

The study was posted on an online site for researchers and has been submitted to the New England Journal of Medicine, but has not been reviewed by other scientists. Grants from the National Institutes of Health and the University of Virginia paid for the work.

Good grief. Did some digging and found out there have been 1,124 COVID-19 tests performed for the "quad county" area so far. That includes Carson City and the county I live in along with 2 others. There are 170,000 + people who live in the these counties with most in 3 out of four of them and much of that percentage live in some concentrated towns and cities. Gee I feel better now.  Sigh.

Right.

We should end distancing in places where the disease hasn't peaked yet.

how do you know it hasn't peaked elsewhere?

we had what looks like a peak here, and other places were exposed long ago.

distancing differs from shutdown, shelter in place and quarantine ect

Dozens of defiant Christian pastors across the country are preparing to open their church doors to their congregations for Palm Sunday, despite strict lockdown orders to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

'We're defying the rules because the commandment of God is to spread the Gospel,' Louisiana pastor Tony Spell told Reuters Saturday.

This lovely human being is back in the news:

PASTOR TONY SPELL TURNS HIMSELF IN, BOOKED ON 2 CHARGES

According to Central Police in Baton Rouge ... the warrant was issued Monday based on video evidence caught by FOX 44 from a Sunday incident where Spell allegedly reversed the bus upon the shoulder of the road and nearly took out someone who was protesting his church gatherings.

Spell is being charged with 2 misdemeanors, aggravated assault and improper reversing.

Tony's wife, Shaye, tells us her husband isn't guilty of any crime, and she claims his arrest is the result of harassment by an allegedly inappropriate protester outside of their church for weeks.

She and a busload of parishioners are heading to where the pastor's locked up to protest.

Having protested our government numerous times, I don't condemn these anti-government protester. They do need to be mindful of the consequences of their actions, including arrest, as I was mindful.

Deliberately backing up and trying to run someone over sounds more like a felony for attempted murder rather than a misdemeanor assault.
