I dont remember where it popped up exactly, but I either read it in an article or heard it during one of the games from the broadcast team. The change was also very noticable, teams LBs stopped just charging the line to stop the run as soon as the ball was snapped on first down. But just curious if a source or media ever confirmed it. Or that we just put 1 and 1 together. Because I'm now interested in if Dan his football brain trust had any influence. Just watching the last 2 or 3 games you could tell there was a shift in play calling! They where actually starting to become more interesting to watch! Even when gruden was calling the plays the offense was just plain hard to watch. Nothing about the offense this year seemed well planned or thought out. If everything said about Rivera is to be believed, this is the best we could have done needing a culture change along with a good/decent coach. Had we waited for a GM he would have been off the market. I like this hire and am looking forward to the season now. It was excruciating knowing it was football Sunday and our team was a lost cause as long as Bruce was here so it wasn’t really worth wasting the precious 3 hours during the weekend. But, most of us did anyways because we have young team with some promising pieces. No Vinny, No Bruce... please please Dan do not hire a buddy to be GM because this team cannot take another 10 years from a bum GM/President. These two are going to have to be simpatico no matter what. Therefore, I don't see the big deal in hiring one before the other. You hire the GM first, he's got to get a coach who he can see eye to eye with. On the flip side, you tailor your GM search to match the philosophies and vision of the coach you just hired. Listened to the interview with Schefter and Rivera and Rivera kept coming back to his relationship Madden. He kept saying that having other people that had head coaching experience are integral to learning and evolving. Hopefully Danny Boy puts him intouch with Gibbs for another experienced voice. Everything this guy says is awesome. As others have said he is well respected, and feared simultaneously, the media loves him. He will walk in day one and change the culture of this team immediatly.
