I lumped the entire 2000 group together because ALL of them were bad, and the whole lot of them were a symbol together. I think it’s impossible not to have spurrier on the list.

If if I had to pick one of the 2000 guys as the worst symbol, it would be George. QB who we didn’t need, locker room cancer, divisive, owner fired a coach because he was unwilling to play the guy, etc.

Archuletta was bad, but not Jeff George bad.

Strongly, STRONGLY disagree with this. The 2000 signings were all more or less good. They were “now or never” signings for sure but the guys they brought in vastly improved the team. Most signings were on D and we went from 28th to 4th. Our D in 2000 was legit until the very end of the year when we were already elmimated. Heck, in the game that basically ended it for us we only gave up 9 points. Deion had a good year— and Bruce Smith had a really good year. Carrier was good too.

Our biggest issue wasn’t signing George it was NOT playing him over Brad Johnson. George was SO much better than BJ that year but Norv stick with BJ out of loyalty based on his white hot start in 1999– but it really only lasted a third of a season and he went downhill from there. In the first half of 2000 he was downright awful. When George came in the offense was better— they just turned it over to him too late.

Now, if you want to say those guys are symbolic of the “quick fix” era that dominated the Snyder philosophy during the early part of his tenure, I understand that. But I don’t consider that group “failures.” Or they at least weren’t the reason the 2000 season went south.

Spot on - I'm definitely not an analytical or stats guys, but I do remember one game, I think it was Philly, where BJ through 4 or 5 interceptions and I thought why in the world is George still on the bench.  I figured Norv Simpson, I mean Turner, had it out for George and that's why he wasn't playing him, but what the heck it's about the team not your love of the BJ, I mean BJ.

Dan Snyder

Bruce Allen

VInny Cerrato

Albert Haynsworth

This sums it up the best IMO.

Sure there are plenty of honorable mentions but the top 3 sum up the bulk of what's been wrong, and in that order.  Albert Haynesworth is symbolic in it all considering that was Vinny and Dan's bright idea and we ended up getting Bruce Allen as a result of all that.

I'm envisioning a monument that is slightly different from Mt. Rushmore.

It would be carved into the side of a mountain for sure, but the resemblance would end there.

Picture a throne. Not just any throne, but one where the right arm rest has Fat Albert Haynesworthless' ugly mug attached at the end and the left arm rest is RGMe. The backrest has three heads mounted above it: Spurrier, Gibbs and Shanny (Dan's most notable HC trophies). The seat cushion is Vinny's face, in a nice puckered expression ready to cradle Dan's butt in accustomed sycophancy. Finally, the base of the throne rests upon thousands of partially dismembered fans whose souls have been crushed countless times by the Redskins.

But hey, I'm not bitter...

I guess I'm the only one who'd put Jason Taylor in stone. May have been a HOFer but as I recall he came here and was fairly underwelming and then got hurt.

I know he was a trade and not a signing so maybe the lack of money keeps him off the wall?

And those things would be?

1.  His wife spearheading Breast Cancer Awareness Month after getting it herself, which lead to NFL finally seriously reaching out to Female fans

2.  Joe Gibbs Return

3.  Starting the "Washington Redskins Original Americans Foundation" in middle of name controversy and not bragging about it despite getting no credit for it

4. Some how making us a $3 billion franchise despite not winning 11 games in his entire tenure (say what you want, that's impressive and imperative for reinvestment into the franchise, which he's getting a better feel for what that means to do correctly)

Now I expect excuses and rage for this post, but you know what, we have enough negativity around here already.  Aim higher.

I'm not sure why you would expect rage in response for your post.  I'm expecting heaps of sarcasm and LOL's.

1. So he should be congratulated for marrying what appears to be a good woman doing good things?

2. This is literally the best thing he's ever done.  Unfortunately though, just like every other head coach, he's failed to provide them with a solid FO.

3.  C'mon man.  This is digging very deep.

4.  So you want fans to credit him with making this franchise more valuable at their expense?  Not to mention NFL franchises in general have become worth more and more with every passing year.

I'll just say if this is literally the best list you can come up with over the course of 20 years of ownership, that pretty much tells the story for why threads like these exist.

Honorable mention, this one is tough because he is a friend of the family, but this was a monumental mistake:

We helped a rival with draft assets and...

Year: 2010
Contract: 5 years, $78 million ($40 million guaranteed)
Team: Washington Redskins

When the Washington Redskins gave a contract extension to Donovan McNabb worth $78 million and nearly $40 million guaranteed in the middle of the 2010 regular season, he was having his worst year ever. While he was on pace to eclipse the 4,000-yard mark for the first time in his career, his touchdown-interception ratio and practically every other statistical category was abysmal. At nearly 34 years old, it was probably time for the 'Skins to go in another direction and think toward the future, but instead, they handed McNabb a lucrative deal that he was not going to live up to.

One month later, head coach Mike Shanahan demoted Donovan to third string while making Rex Grossman the team's starting quarterback

Exactly how I expected you to react, believe whatever you want to believe, there isn't a list you'd buy anyway, that was just off the top of my head.

Saying he deserve no credit for making a charity for Native Americans is unequivocal f'n BS; how many people in the media bashing us for our name even donated to one, let alone had their one?  Gibbs didn't ask for Vinny to be replaced (if I'm wrong correct me, Gibbs had Snyder eating out his hand, coulda got it if he wanted it bad enough) and yes, making money hand over fist at a faster rate then other franchise growth rate matters, especially if he's putting it back into the franchise (and while we're losing, odds are its going to skyrocket if we start winning playoff games again).

Most of ya'll have zero interests in finding anything positive anyway, you can just ignore me if it makes you feel better (which I don't understand how misery does that for you, but whatever).

If we're gonna blame Snyder for decision's he didn't directly make, like drafting Cravens, he deserves credit for things he didn't make the final say on.  He did what he could to help Tanya with WoW, that absolutely should count.

Edit: for example, I saw someone put Jason Campbell, dude, that was Gibbs idea to draft him instead of Aaron Rodgers, not Snyder's.

Are ya'll really that desperate for something to talk about that you've picked just another way to bash Snyder?  What about a Mr. Rushmore for what he got right?

Turning the cheerleaders into escorts was clever in a diabolical way, I suppose.

Um...….

I guess giving Joe Gibbs all the money in the world so his kid could be an NFL coach was something.

The Native American charity thing is arguably the single most cynical act of his tenure. It's the very definition of "paying money to make a problem go away."

It also doesn't seem to have actually done anything since 2015.

He also nearly died during the season from an injury from what I remember....something about his leg and a rupture

He's still donating via that charity, there's articles showing that.  If he didn't make it, that'd get thrown in his face, too, so glad he did because it is doing some good.  I wish he'd talk about why he's the soul contributor or what did know about cheerleading thing, it's hard to defend him on stuff he doesn't defend himself on. FO shifts suggest he didn't know.

It’s called Compartment Syndrome. Literally bleeding in the muscle that can cause nerve damage from lack of oxygen to the tissue. He could have lost his leg.
