Btw..Thanos has easily been the best bad guy so far inr the Marvel movies to me.

2nd is either Red Skull or Killmonger.

I don't consider Loki a villain..otherwise he'd win going away.

Loki is much less a villain in the movies than in the comics. Like Thanos, they tried to not make them totally evil. Thanos went from being an outright Nihilist to being cosmic game warden culling the population of all life forms. Although if you pay careful attention to the dialogue from the Dark Order, you get that more nihilistic/evil reality coming out e.g. Ebony Maw telling the dying Asgardians they have "been saved" from life. In a strange way it reminded me of Grandmaster "you have been pardoned... from life."

So was giving up the time stone always part of Strange's plan, or was it improvised to preserve the outcome?  Because, why not tell Stark what the deal is so he doesnt do something stupid, like fight Thanos one on one.

Once Strange says there's only one winning outcome, they all shoulda said "well, what is it and what do we have to do to get it?"

Thats what I meant by creating time paradoxes and all that nonsense that comes if someone knows their future. That’s why Strange didn’t tell him.

Of course, we don’t necessarily know that Strange saw every moment of all 14 million outcomes. He may have just seen the ending of all of them. And in the one endin. He saw where they won and Stark was alive to be part of it somehow. He may not know more than that and in this ending, Thanos has all the stones. So he did the only thing he could on that battle when it came to Stark dying and that was keeping him alive

Was that the one that the collector had?  My take was that he killed the collector and use him as a trap for Gamorah.

Yeah it was.  What they didn't show was Thanos sacking Xandar and obtaining the orb (power stone).  Maybe they filmed it but thought no one really cared about Glenn Close and John C Reilly so they cut it from the movie.

Well...we don't and they also cut those salaries from the budget. I like that he already had one. He's been busy.

I agree.  I also think they could save Xandar's destruction in a flashback scene to introduce Nova (Richard Rider) at some point down the line.  Maybe Guardians 3

Killmonger is definitely number 1.

I remember reading or seeing an interview that said Benedict Cumberbatch/Dr Strange was the only cast member allowed to read the entire script. Everyone else was just given their specific scenes.

I thought this would lead to something in the movie about Strange knowing how things would turn it and needed to be able to act with that knowledge or bring that knowledge to the character. He does say he saw the 14 million outcomes but beyond that, I’m not sure what the reading for that decision was

Thanos vs Darkseid who's the better villain.

Hard to answer that question without seeing Darkseid on silver screen.  Like I mentioned, I like this movie version of Thanos more then comic version.

What am I saying, DC gonna F it up anyway, unfair question, all things considered.

My brother floated a theory that explains why Strange didn't use the time stone to undo Starlord's idiocy: he saw them getting the gauntlet from Thanos and still losing.  Strange clearly has a plan, and giving Thanos the stones to complete the gauntlet was part of it.

To add to that, I believe Dr. Strange knew that even if they did get it from Thanos, the Avengers wouldn't respect its power and someone like Tony might try to use it, similar to his reasons for Ultron.  The scenario where the Avengers finally won in the end probably depended on Thanos winning at first so that everyone would be on the same page that the stones had to be scattered again instead of used for ANY reason.  Avengers aren't going to keep the gauntlet and wait for the next baddie to show up, pretty sure they didn't do that in the comics, either.

Darkseid is definetly more ruthless, and Darkseid does not care about his kids like Thanos does (eg. he thinks Kalibak is an idiot and Orion he shipped off to New Genesis without a second thought). Don't think he's more powerful than Thanos, particularly with a fully loaded infinity gauntlet.

——-Spoiler free thoughts——

so with time to reflect, I still think this movie is a home run. The sheer size of the a-list cast and the spectacle of it all would have sunken any other movie. Infinity War embraces it and thrives. All the characters are well-represented and the team ups from characters we haven’t seen interact together yet is extremely enjoyable. This is comic book porn and a sight to behold.

Its fast paced but never feels rushed. For a 2.5 hour movie it doesn’t feel long and I was actually wishing it had another hour or two. The action starts legit 10 seconds into the movie and from there all the chracter’s arcs are juggled perfectly into their own specific goals. Despite being fast paced, there are still plenty of slower and emotional moments to add weight and gravitas to the story. They all hit home and add a lot of depth to the hero’s and Thanos.

Speaking of Thanos, he is brilliant. An outstanding villain. Powerful, menacing, terrifying but with enough character and heart to understand his motives. He just dominates every scene he is in also with a sickening sense of dread that you somehow can’t take your eyes off of. Josh Brolin crushes it and the cgi for Thanos is excellent as well, conveying a lot of emotion in Thanos face. He doesn’t feel like cgi at all.

I was worried thse trailers would give too much away but they didn’t. The story goes in several unexpected places for me. It’s funny, it’s sad, it’s everything I had hoped it would be when you envision a movie with the scale of a decade in the making and 15+ movies all pointing toward this one single moment. And it delivers. Make no mistake, the stakes are real for our hero’s and the universe itself.

This movie is really unlike anything I’ve seen before just in in what it sets out to do and what it accomplishes. People were standing and cheering at certain parts, thunderous applause at others, literal profanities screamed at others.

It was an experience and one hell of a ride. I felt exhausted at the end

All of this.  Saw it on IMAX last night, I haven't had that much fun in theaters since Mad Max in 2015.  Balls to the wall action.  I was worried about how they'd manage the 10-15 A-list celebrities together in one movie, but they balanced it perfectly.

As I expected, the Guardians stole the show.  Don't get me wrong, I like all of the Marvel heroes, but the Guardians (IMO) have so much more depth and purpose to their characters.  Guardians 1 & 2 were better than all the other Marvel movies, IMO.  I care about them more than I do any of the other Marvel characters.

Thanos is one of the best villains ever.  Big Than-Than.  **makes a fist**
