Dan T.
^^^ Greatest moment in Nats history so far. (Thinking about it helps dull the most painful moment in Nats history that followed in game 5.) What made it even more dramatic was that it was a 13-pitch battle before the shot.

It should be an all-time iconic moment in baseball. But, you know - Why, Drew?

@DCGoldPants
Pathetic hitting again. They had a day off and looks like they didn't work on anything. **** it, give me Jayson Werth as hitting coach. This is stupid.
NoVaSkins21
With the way they're going, I see Philly taking out of 3 out of 4 or maybe a sweep and this is where the season is lost. So sad. Oh and the ASG is right around the corner here in a few weeks
thebluefood
Well, what's the excuse this time? Was the day off not enough and they're still fatigued? Still too many injuries? It's still too early to tell what this team is going tobe? Because it never seems to be the right time to be concerned about this team. Really hoping this team gets hot after the All-Star Break. They may only be a few games outside of first place right now but if they keep up at this clip, it's going to be a lost season.

I have no doubt that is true if you posted it, but you're putting a lot of weight into those 4 data points. Nothing I've seen in watching them (and I've spent a lot more time watching them this year than previous years) makes me think they won't be right there in September. I still think if any of the 3 teams is capable of winning the division running away, it's the Nats. Edit: BTW I love that Boswell quote.

But I was focusing on the times they've won the division...I think you're putting too much stock in where they were in the standings on 7/1 in those 4 seasons. There are really only 3 other seasons that even come close to a team that was decent (2011, 2013, and 2015). So, I will compromise and agree that we're dealing with 7 data points (2011-2017). There's no point in lumping in the 2009 team, for example, when they were 30 games below .500 in July.

Warhead36
We play the Braves right after the ASB. The goal should be to be within 3 games of them by that point, then make a run. There are no real stand out teams in the NL this year like last year's Dodgers or 2016' Cubs. I mean would anyone be afraid of the Diamondbacks or Brewers? Make the playoffs and take your chances, even if its only as a Wild Card.
skinfan2k
This reminds of the Caps season. This team was in 9th place in the east in December and was completely lost. Maybe lightning hits twice.
