Rallies are a way to re-energize his supporters (and himself), blame the transition's shortcomings on designated enemies (the media, protesters, Democrats, etc.), and test out policy positions (by which ones get the most applause). They're going to be very important for determining the course of his administration, just as they did during the campaign. Especially considering Mittens has been sounding the anti-Russia alarms for quite some time and we all know Donald's love for Putin. But conventional wisdom went out the window in 2016 anyways lol. He cares about this country and is worried about Trump's ability to handle the job. Inserting himself into Trump's inner circle could be the greatest opportunity to make a positive impact on this country he's ever had. Including running for president.
