And I dont just think Republicans are the problem. Right now yea, but there is nothing stopping a Dem from doing the same thing other than "morality".

The fact that running on those values with a D after your name won't get you elected might be a difference.

A column by Gary Abernathy which I think hits the nail on the head, about Trump's refusal to uphold the dignity of the office will prevent him from ever being regarded as a great president. The fact that a significant portion of the population doesn't care speaks very poorly, IMO.

The fact that every single one of his policies are evil, and maybe the most corrupt administration since Grant, might cost him some points, too.

And every single accomplishment the author attributed to Trump is not a real thing that he is responsible for.

Quote

Trump might well lead the nation to an unprecedented employment and economic boom, develop better relations with age-old global adversaries and (hopefully) save the United States from an unhealthy acceptance of socialism.

He lead the nation during an economic boom, he did not lead it to an economic boom.

Being a patsy for an age-old global adversary is a different relationship, it is not a better relationship.  Especially at the expense of our age-old global alliances.

If anything, Trump is pushing the country towards socialism with his policies that tilt power so much (more) in favor of billionaires.

Again, the thing I ask is what defines an economic boom.

Trump tweeted out today that the GDP growth in 2018 was the highest since 2005. Which is technically true.....but omits that we had the same growth in 2015 (2.9 percent, which was also reached in 2006). But while 2.9 pct growth is certainly healthy, it pales in comparison to some of the figures seen under Reagan, Clinton, and the younger Bush.

Pretty sure "boom" is not a technically defined term in economics :) , but certainly, the last 4 years have been quite good economically, particularly compared to 2007-2014.

Trump can (obviously) tweet whatever he wants.  All of the economic data and predictors show straight lines from the end of the Obama years to the Trump years.  His "policies" have had very little impact, other than exploding the budget.
