Anyone else tired of the endless ads for Draft Kings and other fantasy football gambling sites?

On sports radio, tv... Good lord. I'm so tired of hearing about it. I'm not opposed to gambling but it's just annoying at this point.

Yes. It's either these, or the sexy middle aged women in a football jersey selling viagra.

What I hate the most is that sports radio guys now tweet out stuff like they aren't just posting an ad for these gambling sites.

Man, I listen to sports radio a lot in the car and they come across as such shills. Do people really listen (or read tweets) from these guys and think they are non paid? It's almost insulting.

Gotta love the hypocrisy.

We'll advertise all the booze, gambling, and dick pills we can shove into extended timeouts, but GOD FORBID someone with a DVR might've been able to rewind and see the edge of Janet Jackson's nipple during a halftime show! Oh the horror! How do we explain that to the children?!?

Hearing about erections lasting more than 4 hours is one thing, but the outer edge of a nipple! Civilizations have crumbled from less!

It's not only making me hate fantasy football but football in general

I especially like the one with all the meathead fanboys high fiving each other because they won $1 million. Guess that job selling used cars is over

Yeah, makes it hard to watch if you have a rooting interest... impossible to watch if you hust want to catch a good game

I like to know when John Keim is going to be on any show. Then I'll tune in for the 5-10 min to hear what's really going on.

The ads that Cooley does are kind of funny. Meaning, I wonder if those companies paying him and for the air time think "Ugh, he's not taking this seriously at all". I've already told myself I'll never use Cropp Metcalf or Ackerman jut because of the people that push it.

YES! These two sites must make money hand over fist to pay for their advertising. So sick of seeing the ads.

From what I heard, these sites know that they will be shut down at some point, so they are advertising the hell out of it and trying to make as much money from it before that day happens.

What's more lame is that this "bonus" you get when you sign up? They don't flat out give it to you. You earn it from entering contests. Talk about false advertising. (EDIT: Just checked, you earn 4 cents of that bonus for every dollar entered)

If you put $100 in, you have to enter into something like $1000 or more worth of contests before you "earn" that "bonus".

The whole ****ing thing is a scam.

I have a hunch that they're filling out their large tourneys with ghost picks if they don't get to capacity. Ghost picks that are statistically more likely to pay out.

Possibly, but professional gamblers have also taken those sites over. They have controls to try to prevent that, but those were overcome at some point. The regular guy used to be able to make real money on those sites, but that is less likely now.

You can make money there, but they profit margin is usually pretty small. But when you are a gambler and do a few thousand entries every Sunday, that small profit margin adds up.

Looks like the fbi is currently investigating if they are legal now.

Yeah, the walls are crumbling down from a federal and a state level. But the number of users keeps going up.  So unfortunately, we can probably expect more commercials until the locks are put on the doors.

You mean you don't enjoy that moment when she opens her curtains? My wife and I crack up at that part every time. Almost as funny as the one years ago with the guy throwing the football through the tire.

As for these daily sites and their commercials, yes I am sick of them. They are all over the place. You cannot avoid them. What's sad is that story that came out last week about the possibility of there being a scandal, then I hear that they had their biggest week ever. That will mean even more commercials and more inundation.

I also wonder how all of the sponsorship and ads affects how the legality issue is covered. I mean, ESPN has ads and logos slapped on everything. NBC has FanDuel crap all over broadcasts. Fox has that stuff all over the place too.

The ownership of these sites is a little odd to me too. ESPN was in on DraftKings for a while, but they backed away, only to be replaced by Fox Sports. In addition to Fox, investors in the two main sites include the NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, NBC, Comcast, Time Warner/Turner Sports, Bob Kraft, Jerry Jones and other NBA and NFL owners. It just feels a little slimy...that team owners, entire leagues and broadcast partners are owners of a gambling site. Because it is a gambling site.

Do I expect an honest discourse over whether this stuff is actually legal when the sites are lining everyone's pockets? At least ESPN980 brings it up in the news updates...five minutes after Sheehan does a live read for DraftKings.

I love the one that plays on Hulu. The guy who tells me that there are 1 dollar games and 2 dollar games must be a real catch. Of course, can't forget about his friend, the guy who won $60,000.

At this point, the FanDuel ads are a running joke between my girlfriend and I.

The bigger problem for me is that there are entirely too many commercials on during a football game. It's become a commercial broadcast with football breaks. The fact that so many of the commercials are for stupid fantasy gambling makes it feel like an infomercial that keeps breaking into the broadcast I'm actually interested in.

I'm pretty much done with fantasy sports. It's like the whiskey, cigars, and poker trends combined into one.

That goes for all sports though. It's absurd. My DVR is a good friend of mine at this point. If its a game that I don't particularly need to see live, I will DVR it and start watching it about 45 minutes or an hour later.

It was funny to see the Australian newspaper's live blog of Jerryd Hayne's (former Australian rugby player) debut for the 49ers earlier this year. They were astonished by all of the breaks and wondered if the players actually broke a sweat.
