Found something more annoying: The constant, repetitive talk about Chase Young. Holy ****, how many days in a row can you say the same thing about the same player?? There are other topics to talk about in the area. These shows are less creative than Mike Nolan's defense.

Yesterday Sheehan and a caller were going at it and it got so off the rails that they reverted back to the RG3/Kirk Cousins saga of the mid 2010s.

I know they aren't worthy of daily talk, but the Wizards recent move should have been a bigger topic on the morning show today.

It goes to what I said about the Wizards, they couldn't be any lower in the local pecking order, and the national pecking order for that matter.  However, some of this has to do with the fact that NBA fans are more geared towards podcasts, then they are local sports radio.  Radio is terrestrial now, ancient to a lot of younger people.  The average age for a radio listener has to be 40's or higher.  That goes double for sports talk radio.  Since all radio skews older, the older demographic is NOT the primary demo for the NBA, so naturally older sports fans aren't going to be calling in to discuss NBA related topics.  That's why there's so much Commanders talk, because the older demographic likely watches the NFL, and nothing else.

Some of this could change, if the Wizards ever become a winning franchise.  Even then, the Commanders have such a grip on this town's attention, it's going to be difficult for another team to pierce that.  I think back to a few years ago, when the Nats & Caps were having winning seasons, and out-performing the football team in accomplishments by a WIDE margin, but all the callers ever wanted to talk about was the football team.

Because, by and large, sports talk radio is run by idiots, catered to idiots. The people calling in are SO beyond stupid--they can't comprehend anything beyond one sport. And like you said, if I want Nationals coverage, I'll listen to Nats Chat podcast, Galdi's podcast, or the like. The Junkies I still listen to because it's mainly mindless background chatter as I get started in the mornings, but the extent they ignore baseball entirely is really sad.

That's for DAMN sure.  It's one of the reasons I stopped listening to most sports talk radio a long time ago.  The callers are the absolute worst.  The hosts aren't much better either.  I can't stand the Junkies or Grant & Danny.  Those are the two worst sports talk radio shows, maybe ever.  I like Sheehan, but it's rough sledding as far as decent or competent sports talk radio goes.  One thing that absolutely annoys me about Sheehan, is that he loves giving the morons ample time on the air to spew their moronic garbage.  I can't stand Saba, or the other cast of stupid callers that ring into the show on a daily basis.  Sheehan's show would be so much better without callers.  I love Al Galdi, and listen to his podcast regularly.

The Junkies are familiar at this point--I do enjoy listening to them making fun of EB's dumbass. Grant and Danny are just a painful, vapid show that acts like it's smart, because they use words like "analytics" and "metrics"

Yeah, the Junkies are more tolerable than Grant & Danny.  Whoever made the decision to put those two together to do a Sports Talk show should be fired.  Listening to Grant is like nails on a chalk board.  Danny is the antithesis of non-funny comedian.  Just the worst.

Danny is a mouth-breathing idiot. He is all schtick and rants--he's a non-racist Chad Dukes. I caught some of Adam Epstein's show on Saturday--I was shocked, it was surprisingly tolerable. He wasn't screaming, or being the usual moron he was on The Junkies. JP and BMitch need to replace G&D in the evenings. They're great--great chemistry, not overly hot-takey, Ask BMitch is a great segment.

I really like the JP-B-Mitch show.  I don't get to listen to it as much, since I'm stuck at the office during their 10-2 slot, but I like what I hear from them.  I just want non-hot takey, competent and level headed.  Grant & Danny check none of those boxes.

Heard them discussing it on the Junks this morning so I'm not really sure what else you wanted.  That's the only show that has finished airing so far.

This is one thing I agree 1000000% with you.  He is so not funny yet he thinks he is so funny.  When he starts doing his impressions of people that is usually when I rage quite, if I happen to have it on.

I will say though his impression of Barkley is funny.  That's it though.

I turned them on at 8 and didn't hear a word mentioned from that point. I guess they mentioned it for a segment earlier, fair enough.

Yeah I believe it was like the 7:30 segment if I recall.

They are also literally talking about it right now on BMitch and Finley.

But barley a mention of the Nationals, who are currently playing, and exceeding all expectations...

I am fine with never hearing about the Nats on sports radio lol.

I mean let's be real - they know what gets listeners, and NFL is by FAR superior to anything else.  That is just the way it is.  And then around here it would be Caps, and then probably Nats then Wizards.

There are like 3000 games a season in baseball so if they miss talking about them today, they can talk about them another day.

Yeah I'd much rather have them blather on, playing wannabe sports psychologists about Chase Young and talkin' about practice, man. Not a game, not a game, not a game....they talkin' about practice.

Got in the car 10 after 2pm and realize there is nothing worth listening to on 106.7, 980 or 630 that moment. So, I'm not going to listen to Russell stumble over every sentence, and I flip on 106.7. 10 min into their show and they are listing foods they ate yesterday at dinner after the show. Realized I had about a 8-10min drive and wondered if they'd get to sports at all by the time I parked.

Nope. Just read their list and then talked about being food drunk. Brutal. Not sure what I missed in the 1st 10 min. But if it was either the Caps new HC intro or the Nats, or maybe OTAs. They finished that topic.

I have a new appreciation for the new lineup. It's not the greatest but I still get my Galdi in the mornings. I do wish I could switch back and forth between the junkies and Sheehan. They're such different podcasts that it's like Left brain right brain.

Galdi, Sheehan, Russell, and Hoffman all activate my intellect and curiosity. They do analytics and interesting insights. Sometimes they're completely wrong, but even then I have to prove that they're wrong.

Mitchell/JP is in a class of their own because they're not like the junkies but not intellectual like the other shows I mentioned. It's more of a bravado show though with two hosts going back and forth and more fact based talking about what happened not what might happen or theories. Mitchell hates theories.

Junkies are what they are.

I still don't get why Russell by himself without Medhurst was seen as the best move they could make.

This morning marks the second time EB has mentioned "paying off" native American groups with money for the name of a football team and compared it with a porn star getting money for some guy having sex with his wife.

He seriously needs to cut that disrespectful **** out, it's not funny or realistic if he's somehow being serious.

He literally thinks if you are rich enough you can buy anything. Including people. He asked JP once if he would be ok with his daughter doing porn if she made enough money....intimating that he would be ok with it if it was him. Dude is exactly what he says other people are. You might as well get used to it. He's going to die on that hill until his producers tell him its a problem.

Shame that we're kind of in a dark times for local sportstalk when the ownership change happened. I'd rather listen to replays of the Greaseman from the 90s over the Junkies. Actually, that does sound fun. I might look up some bits online. Sgt Fury, Hobbledoogee!

I listened to the opening of Sheehan today. He was fine. Not great. Just fine. Said the opening presser was spot on. Then he ripped the letter from Danya, which I agreed with. But after 20min I had enough and went to music.
