justice98
Sheehan seems to forget that in 3 of Mike's 4 years here, we had a losing record. And not just barely a losing record, we were awful. Zorn levels of awful. Oh and in 2 of those year's Griffin wasn't here to take the blame. You're right though, it's amazing how often history gets rewritten around here. It's not rewritten history, it's perspective. It was a rebuild when Shanny got here, the first couple years were always going to be rough. It was the last one that was problematic. Or how about the Texans with O'Brien? The perspective here is that Shanahan didn't get the job done. Outside of the magical 7-game run in 2012, he was not a good coach here, period. McNabb, Grossman, Beck, Griffin and Cousins all showed that.
lovetoaster
The second i drive up 95 the reception craps out and I can't hear anything lol Was listening to man cave and them I get reception issues and have to turn it off. They were talking about how the fans are dumb and the football people know what they're doing. Then all of a sudden static. I can't get the fan up there either. OK, you talk about how everyone has a smart phone and can listen to podcasts...well then if you don't have reception, you can download TuneIn Radio to listen to radio stations, or IHeartRadio, or the ESPN980 app... Gamebreaker
I barely give him credit for the 7 game run in 2012. He publicly quit on the team in the press conference before the bye week, and told the press he was just evaluating players for next season going forward.

McNabb, Grossman, Beck, Griffin and Cousins all showed that. Sitting in the stadium, where I get to watch the entire field instead of what the TV booth wants to show, I can attest that that under Kyle Shanahan's offense we had guys running wide open all over the field all of the time. Grossman had no arm to get them the ball, they always turned into toss ups. McNabb couldn't figure out where to go with the ball. Beck looked like a chicken with his head cut off. Griffin had a magical 2012 season. In 2013 things were a complete mess by the time Cousins came in. I'm not saying we would be counting rings, but competent QB play was a problem. A big problem. The one exception? When they ran the 2012 offense, an offense Griffin refused to run after 2012.
Spaceman Spiff
Walking out of the TV, they had ESPN on the TV with Chris Carter on Mike/Mike talking about the Skins. I thought two things. #1. How is Chris Carter not suspended right now for his NFL Rookie comments? #2. Opinions = Assholes. We all got them. Being a former player and current jerk doesn't make you any more qualified than my grandmother who passed almost 5 years ago. Give me stats, other examples of this type of thing, break it down with commonsense. Not emotion. I think I'm the only one who wasn't bothered by what Carter had to say. He made the mistake of saying it to an entire group of people that was being recorded, but it was the same thing he'd probably say to any one of those rookies in a private environment. I don't necessarily think it was bad advice, either. It amazes me how people just love to bash the DC sports talk radio. It's like a favorite past time. If you go by this thread, everyone on every station is a horrible asshole who should jump off a cliff, yet somehow people are paying attention and they're getting ratings. Chad Dukes must be like the Nickelback of DC sports talk radio. Everyone hates him, no one listens to him but apparently he's still getting ratings. I have shut off all sports talk radio, and I don't miss it. and like I said. There was a caller who complained about how negative they were. He said, don't be a homer. But its ok to talk about solutions and not focus on these stupid things. The response was "That wouldn't be good for our ratings". Well, 980.....I bet even for August you were around the same spot. Maybe a few ticks up because of Skins camp. But you should be way higher than 25 or 20...

I tried listening to grant and Danny online. They had a 10 minute commercial break! All they did was put those stupid ads all the time. I don't want cheap viagra and I'm not in danger of the irs garnishing my wages. These ads don't apply. The podcast has at least humorous ads and the whole structure is that the majority is conversation instead of ads and inflammatory rhetoric and callers. More DCRTV http://www.dcrtv.com So yesterday Squeaky floated out his proposition that Gruden will now sabotage Cousins so he can finally get to McCoy,, the guy he's wanted all along, but was unable to sell to management. And he's not joking. This is his new narrative. I was waiting for the punch line, but it never came. reid started on it this morning, saying there's plenty in the locker room who don't feel Colt got a fair chance.. opened up the phones o "colt fans" who feel Cousins is getting more than he deserves. Utterly ridiculous. Honestly,, they really don't know how to do anything else. Loverro will spend this season trying to convince us that Jay Gruden has a master plan to risk his entire coaching career by tanking two season in a row and wrecking two quarterbacks to get to a career backup as his starter. Gamebreaker
They literally don't know what else to talk about but drama filled nonsense, because that's all they know. They don't have any real insight, because although these are their jobs they barely know these sports or anything about the players that play on them. As soon as a caller goes on the air and calls them out on it, they absolve themselves of all blame. It's the team that is dysfunctional, only the team, we're just reporting on that dysfunction. Well this week has proven they are just throwing **** at the wall to see what sticks.
grego
Don't know why the hell lurch would try to stop eb and jp from arguing about Matt Williams. It's the best radio they've done in forever. Actual, genuine spontaneous non-agenda driven passion. Unless he thinks their bits and games like "George-______-Favre" is a ratings grabber. @DCGoldPants
Opening the phones.....the battle cry of the unprepared. Here, do our job for us. Especially with whoever is screening those calls. I almost wish they did a asshole Jim Rome move. Give the person a short amount of time to make their point or flush em. It is always "Let me start of by...." or "I'll make this quick" before rambling. They should just have a dial-in number where people leave a message. Then they can put on the best and more intelligent sounding ones.

@DCGoldPants
There aren't any intelligent sports callers Yes there are. Might be a small %. But that's why you ask for calls at the top of the show with comments or questions. Then your play the good ones in the next hour. Kind of how PTI does it. They play the audio that is a question or comment. Then talk about it.
grego
Grant Paulsen - "winners and losers", said Mike shanahan was a winner cuz he said it would take years for him to become an adequate pocket passer, and Bruce Allen was a loser cuz he was gm when the trade was made for Griff. Or so we were told when he was hired.
