You're right now that I think about it. For some reason I associated that word with them

You know, I'm not sure Precursor Games has even done anything.  The original company behind Eternal Darkness was Silicon Knights.  And the only other games I recall from them were Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes and Too Human.

Anyways..if an eternal sonata (edit..darkness) sequel ever got made...I'd be disappointed if it was WiiU or Switch exclusive. I'm sure it will..which means I'd never play it..but whatever.

Also..that Scorpio model that you guys have been talking about..anyone get the feeling that it's going to be 2-3x the price of the normal One system?

Never played Eternal Sonata.  Is that the one where you play as Tchaikovsky or some such composer?

Also, curious why you'd expect a sequel to be a Nintendo exclusive.  Do you think it'll be a case of Bayonetta 2 where Nintendo is the only company that would publish it?

Damnit. I meant darkness.

Eternal Darkness.

http://www.gamespot.com/articles/nintendo-re-registers-eternal-darkness-trademark-a/1100-6446612/

"Nintendo has re-registered a trademark for its acclaimed 2002 horror title Eternal Darkness.

The application was submitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office on December 20, 2016, just three weeks before the Nintendo Switch is fully unveiledon January 12 / 13.

The application mentions "downloadable electronic game software," suggesting a virtual console re-release could be on the cards. There's no mention of any platform in the application, but it seems unlikely at this point for the game to be released on Wii U or 3DS and not Switch.

This isn't the first time that Eternal Darkness's trademark has been extended: Nintendo re-registered the game back in 2010, and again in 2013. No re-release has yet materialised, however.

There's also no mention of the successor to Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, Shadow of the Eternals. The semi-sequel was first teased in 2013, but the failure of its Kickstarter campaign put the project at risk. Creator Denis Dyack claimed in 2016 that the project was still alive, however."

That is the latest news on Eternal Darkness and a sequel. And yeah, I had McCulloch and Denis Dyack mixed up. McCulloch was the founder of Precursor Games which was the company trying to kickstart the sequel.

@Zazzaro703 I played the RE7 demo and thought it was awesome. Had a similar scary vibe to PT or Outlast but had the RE type puzzles, keys and inventory stuff.

Im looking forward to seeing how the final product is and how it relates to the rest of the series. That's been a big mystery so far.

For the record, I adore RE4. Its an amazing game and I think it had enough creepiness and RE tone to offset the increased action. Playing It for the GameCube just blew me away and it still holds up.

5 was bad and 6 was an abomination

The final battle against Wesker seemed way too overdone. One of the more frustrating boss battles ever.

The Leon portion of RE6 was well done, I thought, but the Jake/Chris portion was something that no one should ever have to pay top dollar for.

I still have no idea what they were thinking. But I thought they redeemed themselves with Revelations

I'm a huge resident evil fan. I have an umbrella corp tattoo. I am worried about this game. This isn't resident evil. They can label it as such but it doesn't follow the story line whatsoever. I really wish capcom would've called it something else instead of cashing in on the biohazard/RE name.

For any fans of Fire Emblem, Nintendo just had another Nintendo Direct for some news on that front.

They're remaking Fire Emblem Gaiden (second game in the series; never left Japan) for the 3DS.  They announced a new Fire Emblem was going to the Switch in 2018.  Smart phones will be getting a mobile Fire Emblem game.  And they briefly mentioned the Fire Emblem Warriors, which will be releasing on the Switch as well as the New 3DS.

No console over $400 will ever sell well. There aren't many sure bets in the video game industry, but that fact has stood the test of time. The Neo Geo, PS3, XBox One w/ Kinect. They all were priced at $500 or higher, and they didn't sell **** or didn't start selling until the price dropped. If Microsoft thinks they can sell Scorpio at a high price point just because the PC market has grown, they've got another thing coming. The "consoles only" gamers are different than the PC gamers, and there are more of them. Also, very few of PC gamers are going to buy a Sony or Microsoft system.

They need to just bite the bullet with a hard loss per unit sold and hope it pays off with strong sales(with games).

jk jk

Seriously tho, we don't know how 7 will connect to the RE storyline, if it all. Honestly, the storyline has gotten so ridiculous and convoluted, I'm ok if this is a complete reboot. I think the original story had run its course.

It also depends on how you define RE. If you define it and that specifically includes the fixed camera angles, then 7 probably won't be RE to you.

Other series traditions such as the occasional jump scare, environmental puzzles, inventory/item management, ammo conservation, exploration or backtracking to unlock new areas, hosts of monsters etc to fight or run from and campy/cheesiness...I'm thinking 7 will be right there with all those things except perhaps the level of cheesiness. It appears a bit more serious/scary  and less campy.

Im interested to see how it plays it.

I agree with this. Leon didn't have a bad portion until he got to China and was jumping motorcycles out of airplanes and **** with his blonde locks perfectly flowing in the wind
