Just saw it on deadspin.  McGee was heated and Shaq responded by lighting him on fire again.

I got McGee if they fight though.  I remember shaq throwing hands during his playing days and his punches were less accurate than his free throws.  Age hasn't fixed that.

God help the earths axis if Shaq ever connects on one of those, though. But id take Javale.

Shaq looks old af. Even in the league, as big as he was, he really couldn't fight. Barkley took him down rather easily in that one scrum.

Shaq these days would probably go the route of Suge Knight, messing with any athletic big

Is this from the skit Shaq did yesterday? It was funny lol

Started back in Dec/Jan...Shaq went at Javale for his haircut.  That was the straw that broke the camel's back.  Back then, Javale had some not-so-nice things to say abotu Shaq.  It was pretty low/ugly.

That game against the Rockets last night was a prelude of things to come with the Davis-Cousins construction.

Davis and Cousins scored a bunch of points, but Davis was inefficient and the game was a laugher as they couldn't keep up with a perimeter oriented Rockets team that dropped 129 points on them.

Having both Davis and Cousins is too many resources committed to guys who should both be playing center in small ball line ups.  What they need to do to maximize Davis is use Cousins to trade for a star perimeter player.  Either a ball handling forward like Paul George or a guard.  If they could swap Cousins for Damian Lillard, then I think that is the foundation for something special for New Orleans.

Considering what they gave up to get Cousins and assuming something else doesn't change, do you think any team is going to give up a star perimeter player for Cousins?

(I'm assuming that you'd agree didn't take star quality value to get Cousins.)

I wouldn't even chalk up last night's game vs. the Rockets as a sign of things to come for the Pelicans.  The ENTIRE team dynamic changed in a matter of days, so getting blown out by one of the better teams in the league should have been expected.  Now, by the 5th game of the Boogie/Davis pairing and we're seeing the same pattern of uneven play and blowouts, then by all means start forumlating the opinions of their future.  The offseason priority of the Pelicans will have to be getting some wings.  Trotting out guys like Moore/Hill ain't gonna cut it.

If he can't make it work they'd be better off trying to find a coach who can rather than assuming Davis and Boogie aren't a good fit.  Gentry needs to create an offense that works and convince these guys to play at least decent team defense.

They've got two guys that can dribble, shoot, and dominate inside at a time when the league has gone small and most teams lack the roster to match up with them.  These aren't old school bigs that need to get the ball in the low post and slowly go through a series of post up moves.  Some coach out there must know how to use that advantage.

Jay Bilas talked about the issue on Mike & Mike a couple of days ago--guys who shoot 40% from three score more points than guys who shoot %50 from two.

And DeMarcus Cousins doesn't shoot 50% from two.  And neither Cousins nor Davis are dominant defensive players, so they don't have that traditional advantage that stems from size either.

They have an inefficient roster construction.

What do people think is the upside here for Cousin and Davis pairing?  Houston is one of the best teams in the league.  Does anybody believe that pairing the two best players from bad teams together they are going to become on of the best teams in the league?

(This would like believing two Twolves-era Love together would make a great team to me and that doesn't work.  Putting Love with another good player on a bad team (Irvin) with the best player in the league created one of the best teams in the league.  But the key piece is the best player in the league.)

Davis and Cousins are more than just the two best players on bad teams.  Davis is already widely viewed as a top five player and the best player of his generation--meaning he'll be the best player in the league once LeBron, Durant, and Curry all get old.  And Cousins is widely viewed as the league's best center.

Top end talent is not New Orleans's issue any more.  The issue is going to be that they don't have a balanced and efficient roster construction in today's era.  There is a place for dominant bigs like them on a great team, but a team doesn't need two of them.

“Everybody can’t be Shaq. [McGee]’s trying to make his money and enjoy the game of basketball and [there’s] this perception of him that he’s a dumb player because he makes mistakes on the court. Shaq was a ****ty free throw shooter, missed dunks, airballed free throws and he couldn’t shoot outside the paint. He was bigger than everybody. He didn’t have no skills, but he was bigger and stronger than everybody. He was still a great player, but you had your flaws too.”

KD just laid into Shaq during a press conference.
