NFL.com per PFT: Redskins reportedly very concerned about RG3's knee

Too risky of an offense where Robert is doing designed runs at this point on that knee. Not interested in seeing him do it anymore

Peterson just carried the ball 348 times, I'm sure RG3 will be fine with designed runs (to note he wasn't hurt on designed runs). I don't mind if we scale it back from 8 times per game to 4 or 5 though, but if he is smart about running then we don't have to worry about these injuries so much. He needs to not always play the hero for the extra couple yards, as much as we love him for that bravery it just isn't a smart way to play.

I just feel Robert is good enough and will progress enough where he can be throwing for 30+ TDS, 4,000 yards and still a 100 rating. I think he's that talented. I know the read option is perfectly suited for him but I think his future is making the strides that Young did as a pocket passer

I'm to the point where I'm sick of hearing about RG3 and his knee. I don't think we will hear anything meaningful for a while and that means that we will have to see these types of speculative articles and opinions.

I'm with you.

I'm on the verge of doing something I've never done and that is just take an offseaon break from this board (with the exception of the NFL Draft and mini-camps) because I don't NOT want to go through SEVEN months of crying, whining, hand-wringing, and pouting.

What's done is done. All we can do is wait now. In that wait, we should get on with other Redskin news and just keep close tabs on any info about RG3's progress.

And I mean REAL info. From legitimate sources, with direct quotes from people directly involved with his re-hab or folks who are connected to those people. Not crap articles like this one.

You know everybody, there was a reason the late, great 'King of All Media', Bubba, didn't post PFT articles on ES when he was here, and this article is a perfect example why.

A sensationalist title that has nothing to do with the article, a bunch of gossip and innuendo fills the paragraphs of said article, and no info or quotes from anyone directly involved with the story.... just a bunch of BS "unnamed sources".

Keep PFT articles in the trash can, where they belong.

I've been tormented by years by my "Madden" buddies who occasionally used to text me things that contained harmful injury reports about my players in an attempt to strike fear in my fan heart. I realize the only way to play the game is to do it right back. I used to get texted things like "Clinton Portis broke his neck" .. "Landry needs toe amputation" ... "Campbell's knee is done"

Honestly, people around the country who hate the Redskins are eating all this bull**** up about RG3, because they're straight haters. RG3 is down and out currently and people are kicking him in the side. Let it be known, he's the kind of person that sits there and gets motivated through this stuff. I think this is a fire people shouldn't want to light...but they're just mediots trying to sound smart while they can. Because honestly, people will and can talk **** on us until next season or until the next good news comes out of RG3.

All we can do is chill, relax, and wait for it. Because it's coming.

Let's not forget, Mike Florio is a Steelers fan. They beat us this season, and they missed the Playoffs. Deep inside his heart, this is what Florio feels accomplished of out of this year and this is his attempt to make himself feel good while getting web site clicks.

And the simple fact that we're such a big deal, if it's in anyone's interest to do our fan base justice, then you all need to SHUT THE **** UP ON THE INTERNET MESSAGE BOARDS - OUTSIDE OF THIS WEBSITE AND OTHER REDSKIN SITES. WANT TO KNOW WHY!?

I want to go back to not being the center of attention. Maybe in the crowd somewhere off to the side. At least until we win the Super Bowl.

Dr. Andrews said full recovery and expects him to start next season....

Dr. Neal ElAttrache ( Tom Brady's orthopedic surgeon, Lakers and Dodgers consultant ) said he expects him to play next season and hopefully to start the season and be the same athlete.

Hhmmm.... whom to believe... Two world renowned surgeons or one PFT writer??????????????

The article isn't playing medical doctor making his own medical diagnosis, it's really only talking about what the Redskins feel about it internally and where that concern might be coming from. And if this is true, they have direct contact to the situation. Because we don't know exactly what Andrews is telling them specifically. He's most certainly not going to voice concerns about his future publically. All the statement said was that he'd be ready for 2013, nothing more, nothing less. That leaves a LOT unsaid.

And for every doctor that's gung ho about his immediate future, let's not act like we haven't heard any that were more cautious about it. It's not unreasonable.

Except the problem is the article doesn't cite a team source, it cites a league source. That could quite literally be anyone. They could have asked the Jets doctor about complications with multiple ACL repairs or asked the Broncos field turf specialist what he thought about playing with cartilage deterioration in your knee. Quite literally they could have taken it from anywhere.

Cartilage deterioration is not an immediate thing, if he was playing on bad knees it would have shown in his predraft examination (you don't run a 4.35 on bad knees). It can happen when you either continue on a severely injured knee (if his original injury was just a 1st degree tear then his joint was likely stable enough), or if you have actually torn your cartilage (which I don't believe Dr Andrews reported any cartilage damage).

Frank Gore is still playing on a knee where he tore his ACL 9 years ago. Check out the McGahee injury while he was in miami, it was BRUTAL, and required several surgeries to correct. He tore the ACL in that same knee 3 years prior to that as well. He tore his MCL in his other knee this year, but his left knee has been generally healthy. Despite those knee injuries he has had a solid career and is still playing at a high level for a 31 year old rb.

Can anyone recall the last starter whose career was cut short due to knee injuries? Not talking about a guy 30+ who retired after one, but a guy in his 20s who just never was his former self afterwards. Basically my thoughts is it would have to be an absolute anomaly for rg3 to have his career ended by this.

Here is a much more disturbing possible headline:

NFL.com per PFT: Redskins reportedly totally unconcerned with Robert Griffin III's knee injury.

"Huh? He was hurt? Oh, umm, that's gay. I hope he'll be back up and running in a couple of days, or years or whatever, I mean it doesn't really matter dude. C'est la vie as they say!" said Snyder on Tuesday.

Downside of being so good is attracting the attention of the media and the attention of other fans.

Everyone now is going to undermine his health b/c it's a way of taking a dig at the Skins and they're going to do it EVERY STEP OF THE WAY.

Let's all look out for each other as a fan base and squash all BS "RG3 knee issues" from singular, nebulous sources.

A little weird it's the first time we hear "cartilage."

Technically, it's a concern with any knee injury right? And bone on bone DOES suck but wtf does that have to do with RG3?

Take with a grain of salt news from an outfit that has no qualms about levying a claim of "career-ending" using no more than one anonymous "league source" to convey concern about a hypothetical injury from the Redskins proper.

We all have enough truth to worry about until next season.

This type of article really only serves to bring readers to their website. I've posted a few times in the comments sections mainly responding to Giant/Cowboy fans saying stuff like "he's done", "will never be the same" etc. They are loving this since neither team made it to the post season. But, i can say I've seen a lot of them wishing Robert the best. It's his nationwide appeal that is bringing so much attention.

I can only hope Robert and Mike take something away from all of this. They both share a good amount of responsibility.
