how would you feel if your phone # was given to strangers?

I am curious of your opinions on this. Has to do with the game last night. Living a few hours from Seattle, I get a lot of trash talk when the Hawks play the skins.

Last night the amount of low class and mean spirited mocking of the QB’s injury was ridiculous. Really disappointed in a lot of people I know personally, as well as dozens of adults at the sports restaurant I was at who acted in the most mean spirited, profane way you can imagine (very similar to when they mocked ST's death in 07)

BUT then.....

I start getting random text messages from numbers I don't recognize. And the comments are not ones I would repeat on here. Quite frankly, as a woman, it really creeped me out, even without the low class comments on RGII's injury. I didn't find it funny at all.

I still am not sure who gave my number out. Nobody has fessed up.

Would that bother any of you? Or am I just being a sensitive female on this one?

PS- I have not been talking trash this week at all. I have purposely been quiet and not doing anything to bring on extra attention about the game.

I would be pissed if somebody gave out my number without my knowledge. It may not be, but it feels like a massive invasion of privacy. And what's to stop it from going wider? Sure, maybe whoever gave it out trusted the person they gave it to, but that person can give it to whoever and once it gets that far out there's no concern for the privacy/safety of somebody you don't know.

Not to try to freak you out, but I think you're justified in being upset about this.

Would bother the **** out of me. If I found out who gave out my number for any reason (much less for something like that) without my permission I'd be -1 friend in a heartbeat.

*Don't you work in law enforcement? Definitely keep all the messages in case they do continue and it could escalate into a legal issue.

I'd be one pissed off ************ if that happened to me. And yea, even as a guy it would concern me that someone would stoop so low or that those people had my number.

If it continues or you feel threatened enough already, file a report with the police.

My number must be popular to give out as a fake, cause I get random calls all the time. Car dealerships returning calls I never made, bill collectors, landlords, and who knows how many others. For like 2 years I got calls from people in the Midwest calling me thinking I was some dude named Pat.

I used to be a cop, but now work as a victim advocate I do have the messages, and number. Its a Virginia area code, 757. I don;t know many people personally who live in Virigina, but its obvious someone who has my number, knows Im a Skins fan does.

It would bug me something terrible, but what I would do with that person's number would be far worse. They started it, you END it.

Maliciously? Violated.

Now if some hot girl came into my bar when I wasn't working and asked my coworker for my number, because she was moving out of the country tomorrow and wanted to meet up with me that night (sexually)? Yeah that'd be cool in my book...

Best thing to do is take down all the phone numbers that sent you nasty texts, head on over to a library, or a place with WiFi access (not your home) and proceed to sign up those phone numbers for every online offer imaginable.

Use a generic email when necessary, and go ahead and sign them up for all types of beastiality porn, midget porn, ghey porn, and anything else you can think of that would make them get all types of phone calls from places they might not want to hear from.

Let me know how it goes ;)

We ban folks who do that and delete the thread.

oh I won't. Have to admit I thought about it, but I know better. Thats why I didn't. Plus, I don't want to stoop to that level. I have to believe I'm a better person than that.

Blast that number out here and serve up some revenge. hahahaa, no don't stoop to that, that is low and I hope you can get to the bottom of it.

I actually had to go to the Sherriffs Dept. to get a guy to stop harassing me. I had accidentally called his number and apologized. The guy keep leaving messages, calling as a blocked number, I called him back and asked him to stop and he didn't. My phone is my business number. I went and had the police call him and that was it, never heard from him again. I would think you could pull that off with one of your friends.
