skinsmarydu
I know it's old, but a goodie...Primal Fear. Richard Gere*yum*, Edward Norton, Frances McDormand, and a host of other greats like Andre Braugher & Maura Tierney. As much as I love law/courtroom movies, hubby couldn't believe I hadn't seen it, or that it was only rated 2 stars. Phenomenal performance by Norton. Highly recommend! Jumbo
I saw "The Wolverine" this morning. I liked it. It was far better than the last Wolverine movie they did. Also, you all will like the scene they stuck in the credits. I am a killer "predictor" with movie/TV plots/storylines in terms of figuring out where they're going ahead of time, and I had correctly guessed the characters and theme of the "sneak scene" at the end (had one detail wrong---so far, may yet be right). Per the movie---like many others, liked it much more than earlier flick, jackman's excellent, good movie but needed about 20 minutes of editing down. Not quite as good to me as the current leaders, but close enough to get a solid thumbs up, and a couple of absolutely excellent action sequences IMO. I'd rate it over the still-disappointing Supes effort (it had good stuff, but I got my hopes high on that one and knew better). I stopped reading comics before some of the character's storylines they draw from, but others say the role of Yukio is an amalgamation and there are other changes form the comics that parallel the "re-imagining" we see these movies regularly taking even when trying to do an "old school" or "authentic" take on a long-lived character. The two fans I was with (both younger) were bothered by that while watching it, but I was enjoying that "ignorance is bliss" experience, so she was no distraction to me and I thought she was great. Great casting, overall. They treated it like a serious movie about the fascinating personal history of a significant individual (who does happen to be a mutant "superhero") with plenty of action well-tailored to the story, but not of the continuous never-ending variety. They went heavy on "plot meat" in this one (as compared to the Avengers, for instance). Of course, as a character, Wolverine lends himself to that kind of "serious" treatment much better than some. Botched
I saw "The Wolverine" this morning. I liked it. It was far better than the last Wolverine movie they did. Also, you all will like the scene they stuck in the credits. I saw it too. Not a masterpiece or anything, but far better than the last Wolverine flick. It's funny how they can get away with extreme violence in a PG-13 movie as long as there isn't *much* blood shown. This movie has a seriously high body count. And of course Wolverine is on the receiving end of lots of gruesome ouchies. Best part of the movie: Logan hurls someone off a balcony and they fall into a swimming pool far below. Yukio: How did you know there was a pool down there? Logan: I didn't. Edited July 29, 2013 by Botched

CRobi21
The Nightmare Nanny (2013) Not bad for a Lifetime movie. Pregnant girl loses baby in car accident. Can no longer have kids, as a result. Goes into mental hospital for a few years for depression. After leaving hospital, takes job as nanny. Steals kid from mom. Jumps to death as kid is about to be taken away. Jesus! I also saw "Girl Fight" a couple of weeks ago on Lifetime. That one was actually based off a true story. And last night they had some movie on with Beyonce called "Obsessed". I only watched a few minutes of it (Braves were on), but it looked a little cheesy. But I would still watch it just to see her. They also had some hot blonde in it. You know you guys watch Lifetime. Especially if you have girls around. Thats all they watch lol.

Oh and Obsessed was awesome, and that blonde chick is Ali Larter, whom you may or may not remember from movies such as House On Haunted Hill, Final Destination, and Varsity Blues. And might I say, she has definitely aged well (I'm assuming she's in her late 30's. I'd have caved immediately...kicked out of the house, marriage destroyed, everything. Going Commando
The hell happened in here? Lifetime is disaster/emotion porn for women and stoners who get stuck on the channel and are too high to change it. Its mission is to make single women fear and mistrust men. The movies are so amateurish and over the top they'd be hilarious if they didn't take themselves so seriously. I remember smoking with some female friends back in college at their house and watching a lifetime movie about AIDS with Queen Latifah. Don't remember anything about the movie except getting sucked into it because of my state of heightened sensitivity and impressionabilty. Spent the whole movie saying variations of, "man.... that's ****ed up." Thankfully my GF has zero interest in Lifetime. But she loves musicals so I'm not off the hook. In fact she's watching Mamma Mia while I sit here on the couch typing this post. I hate this movie. It actually troubles me how much I hate this movie. I don't even understand why it's so loathsome for me. I'm not anti-musical per se. And I usually don't have a problem with things meant solely for women and homosexuals. But Mamma Mia is an hour and 45 minute roller coaster going back and forth between intolerably boring to cringe inducing to desperately frustrating.
Mr. Sinister
I watched Lifetime as a little kid, back when there were only two tv's in the whole house. Usually my dad would have one all to himself, and I'd have to get up early in the morning to get in my tv time. My mother watched the hell out of Lifetime. There was always some chick that was getting beat up, or stabbed 20 times by her boyfriend/husband. One of, if not the most depressing channel ever. That, and I'm pretty sure that besides A Night At The Roxbury, that was the only time I'd ever seen Richard Grieco in a movie (or could at least remember seeing him in a movie) For the most part, every girl I've dated watched most of the same stuff I watched, besides stuff like Sex And The City and Keeping Up With The Kardashians and a few other completely forgettable shows, . I cannot recall ever watching Lifetime. The closest I ever get to watching something similar to your average Lifetime flick these days, is the show Stalked, but you can only watch only maybe one or two episodes before you have turn. ........ Keeping with the the theme of the op... A pair of brothers stumble upon a mysterious hole in their basement that leads to the darkest corridors of their fears and nightmares. This movie wasn't what I was expecting I thought it would be loosely based on the story from Coast To Coast AM With Art Bell, featuring the story of Mel's Hole, or at least be the inspiration It kind of was, but it was more of a preteen Disturbia meets The Goonies meets Snick type of deal. Good movie though. Kind of reminds you of the old school adventure kids movies of the 80's and 90's. Edited July 30, 2013 by Mr. Sinister

Maxito
Just finished watching Man with an Iron Fist. Good thing I rented it on Redbox, cause I just thought it was a strange movie. Good fighting scenes, alright acting, and plot was eh. Just copied and paste the synopsis "On the hunt for a fabled treasure of gold, a band of warriors, assassins, and a rogue British soldier descend upon a village in feudal China, where a humble blacksmith looks to defend himself and his fellow villagers." Momma There Goes That Man
Finally saw Star Trek: Into Darkness at the local $1 theater. I loved it and appreciated it for what it was. Sure there were plot holes but its not like the science fiction genre in general isn't full of material with plot holes. These are still good movies even if they are a little too action oriented as opposed to the more thematic human focused TOS and movies. Spoilers: I also somehow stayed away from any spoilers this whole time and had no idea Khan was going to be in it. What I appreciate about these last two movies is the whole altered timeline/universe which gives them a chance to tell familiar stories/events in different ways and for characters to be altered. It really opens up alot of possibilities in the universe for them to take their own direction while not being tied to all the canon that has previously been established. I'm ok with that. I liked the Kirk death scene and the role reversal between Kirk and Spock in those key moments. It didn't have the same impact in this movie because it was obvious he was going to be revived and it wasn't built on decades of friendship. it worked for these movies/timeline. Going Commando
Christ Paula Patton is hot. Robin Thicke is a lucky man: 1.) Married to Paula Patton. 2.) Got to be in a music video and look at Emily Ratajkowski's amazing boobs the whole shoot. 3.) Probably lots of other great stuff, but at this point he's just running up the score.
CrabR
I just watched Chasing Mavericks on HBO, a film that flopped last summer. I thought it was a pretty good movie specifically because it was true and pretty much stayed true to the Guys life. I cant believe people would even try to surf 30-50+ waves let alone live to tell about it. Several have died trying. One of the lead actors almost died while filming it. I was in S.Cal in summer of 69 and the first time to the beach they had a sign as you went into the parking lot saying surf today 7-10. I We get to the beach and look at the waves and it looks like the beginning of Hawaii 5-0. e were used to body surfing in O.C. but there was not way I was going out there. The wave would break and break again on on the 3rd break is where we body surfed and that was bigger than anything in O.C. They said it was the biggest surf at Huntington Beach in 3 yrs. If that was 7-10 I cant imagine 30-50 On a side note I seen where a surfer at a place off of Portugal rode a 100ft wave to set a world record. I seen the interview and he said he really did not expect to live trough it. Most of these big wave surfers never expect to live a long life as they live on the edge video here
The Evil Genius
Saw "The Wolverine" last night. Loved it. DaGoonie55
Watched Evil Dead and the new GI Joe Movie. Evil Dead. "Groovy" pretty much sums it up. Gore, demon, chainsaw, attacks with syringes. Epic. Can't wait for the follow on movies. GI Joe. Leaps and bounds better than the first. The dialogue wasn't riddled with cheesy "YO JOE"s every 15 seconds. They moved tactically, which is something I appreciate. Many key players not in this movie, which struck me as odd, but still pretty good.
